  1. I had to stop looking at eschergirls! It's funny for a while but then just looking at all those pictures started to get physically painful. And I started to just want to see girls who didn't look like they were made of play-doh. I also like http://dcwomenkickingass.tumblr.com/
  2. I deal with everyday misogyny by getting a good dose of feminism online. Some good websites I've found are: http://malefeminists.com/ http://itspronouncedmetrosexual.com/ http://finallyfeminism101.wordpress.com/ and the (sadly no longer updated) http://girl-wonder.org/girlsreadcomics/ I'll probably come by and add more as I think of them.
  3. Unicorn, could you tell me what you heard about quorn? I was going to buy some today but I'm wondering if I should.
  4. Has anyone ever heard of quorn? It's high in protein but I don't know how well it does in other areas. Thoughts?
  5. My mother inspires me. She's incredibly strong and fiercely independent. And she's pretty much the greatest mother I've ever met. She raised my sister and I alone, along with taking care of our ridiculous number of pets. And I'd mention how my sister inspires me too but that seems a bit redundant since if she didn't I wouldn't have joined this site. She works on improving herself every day, and that's awesome. Also she took care of me when our mom couldn't.
  6. If I were your boss, I would have kept it up. That's brilliant. I think that sounds like an excellent little easter egg.
  7. I always figured it was because they were rotting and they prefer non-rotting food. It would be the equivalent to someone offering you a fresh juicy burger and you saying, "No thanks, I'll have this burger that's been sitting out on the sidewalk in the hot sun for five days instead."
  8. Longsword vs. Lightsaber. Round one. FIGHT.
  9. I can't help but interject that if this does not happen I will be extremely disappointed. Okay, leaving now.
  10. I would get dizzy while doing it in class (the class was a full semester long) and then I pretty much stopped doing yoga at all for a year - I only just got back into it. So no, I haven't continued to do it. Unicorn, that's a great suggestion. Next time I'll try it with my head on a rolled up towel, see if I still get dizzy. And I actually do yoga at all times of day, so sometimes it's on an empty stomach, but sometimes it's right after I've eaten. (Probably not the best idea, but it seems to work out all right for me.) Other than that, I guess I'll keep it up and not drop the pose out of my practice entirely or anything. Thanks for the comments!
  11. Hello all. This is my first post outside of my introductory post, so please let me know if I do anything wrong. A year ago I took a yoga class, and that is when I first noticed this problem. I know the child's pose is suppose to be this deeply relaxing thing, but for me it never is, because I feel so dizzy when I do it. I get the same feeling on some other poses too, that require the head to be downward and lower than the heart. I'm not a giraffe, I can't just dip my head below my heart and not have blood rush into it! Am I doing something wrong? Am I just defective? Is this a problem that will go away if I keep practicing? Thanks in advance for any insight.
  12. At this point congratulating you on your academic achievements has become so mainstream... I'm way too much of a hipster to be proud of you now. I'd just like it to be noted that I was proud of you before it was cool...
  13. The best thing about the Yoda Yoga is that Yoda isn't even doing yoga. He's just there, looking patronizing.
  14. Yeah, I would have to agree with that. And how could you ask anyone to pick just ONE favorite Labyrinth character?
  15. No, I said "'Ello", but that's close enough. Thanks for the welcome!
