  1. Ha, took me a second to wrap my head around the Mr. Bean one. I'd like the wheat is murder, but I feel like 75% of my day would be devoted to explaining it every time I wore it.
  2. I play by the theory that if I'm up, everyone else should be too. Would it be any quieter to load the blender up and take it to another part of the house and run it?
  3. Hi there, I just saw your signature on one of the boards, and I have to say, that might be my new mantra in life, ha!

  4. I keep mine in a little metal container, just so I don't have to look at it all the time.
  5. I'll look around town for a rack before I start building, but these wouldn't take up much room, so they'd probably be better for apartment life.
  6. Does anybody use equipment that they made themselves? I'm thinking about building this... http://homemadestrength.blogspot.com/2011/04/more-than-just-squat-stands.html My gym only has one squat rack and it's usually covered up with people waiting on it. I got to thinking that I could drop my membership and buy a set of weights, that would cover squats/bench/deadlift and if I build this, it wouldn't take up that much room. Anywho, just wanted to get some opinions on it.
  7. I would not fault anyone for making the assumption that someone already has bacon. Random Simpsons quote. "If you like bacon, you're gonna love it! If you don't like bacon, then to hell wit ya!" I use that one on occasions.
  8. I read an article a few years ago about the Amish and it boils down to the same thing, they walked on average around 18,000 steps a day (if I remember correctly) as opposed to most non-Amish Americans who are doing good to get 10,000 steps.
  9. I went to my parents house for the weekend and my mother kept telling me how much weight I had lost and she kept asking what I was eating, so instead of trying to explain the paleo thing and have her freak out that I was on a "low carb" diet, I just jokingly said "You know those unhealthy foods that everyone tells you not to eat, I don't eat those anymore. And you know those healthy foods they tell you to eat more of, I don't eat those either" I figured this would be the best way to dance around the subject.
  10. This is an artist's rendition of what I would look like wearing suspenders. The bear thing happens almost daily. Actually, I stole it from some t-shirt site, but I do feel like punching a bear on occasions.
  11. I experienced this a few weeks ago, me and a buddy ate the Blazin wings at Buffalo Wild Wings, the wings sucked but they were hot, I had two beers with it but when we left I felt like I had drank a six pack. Spicy foods cause your brain to release endorphins, which leads to good times. And about 80% of what I cook will end up with red chili flakes in it. And some Sriracha and a few packs of tuna and I'm good for a weekend of camping.
  12. Hi there Rocktavius (I like the explanation on your name ha) I'm just starting paleo too, so I'm not exactly the expert, but from what I've read and tried so far is not to really worry about the calories, but at the same time don't go wild with it. But you seem to have the gist of it, go big with protein and veggies, and nuts, avocados, and the like are perfectly fine, just don't base your diet on them. I've also heard a lot of people say to go easy on the fruits if you're in it for weight loss. Not sure if any of that helped, but welcome aboard either way.
  13. Nice job fella! Always good to see people making progress!
  14. I've been doing paleo for a few weeks now, and I spend a good bit of time on the road. So I'm taking a lot of these ideas for myself. I like the packets of tuna, they taste much better to me than anything canned, and no can opener required. The frozen vegetables sounds like a really good plan too, I spent time in towns last year that you couldn't buy a fresh vegetable in to save your life. And there's the ever ready beef jerky if you can find some without sugar in it.
  15. I've gotten to where I just make a big dish at the beginning of the week and package them for the rest of the weeks lunches. But without even a microwave, I could see where you're limited.
  16. I think you just planned my supper for me! Thanks!
  17. Hi, My goal isn't really specific, I was shooting for 275, so I'll probably aim for 260 now. I've always thought if I ever saw 230 I would just be a brick wall ha. But I figure between eating paleo and working out, I'll just end up at a nice healthy weight, whatever it may be. My workout is a little complicated. My new years resolution was to work out everyday this year (so far so good). For the first six weeks or so, I was doing circuits alternating days between upper body (pushups, curls, standing flys, tricep dips) and lower body (dumbell squats, lunges, crunches, mountain climbers)I would do 10 sets counting down so first set 10 reps, second 9, third 8, etc. When I got tired of this I started more into lifting and breaking my days down even more, so it would be shoulders, chest, bis & tris, legs, abs. And I've started adding a little road work / cardio into the mix here lately. I even did yoga for the first time a couple of weeks ago. But yeah, that's the gist of it. Maybe it's not too confusing. Anywho, have fun
  18. I hate olives, and anything creamy/foamy (whip cream, cool whip, sour cream) it's a texture thing I can't give up biscuits and good craft beer. They're the only things keeping me from going full paleo
  19. It's the easiest way to put weight on them, in the end it comes down to money. I'm in the same boat though, looking for good grass fed beef around here. There are plenty of grass fed cattle, but finding the meat is hard, it's irritating.
  20. Thanks folks, and yes, it's definitely a Homer reference haha.
  21. I'm the new guy and here's a little info about me. I'm 29 years old, I was born and raised in Mississippi, and I'm a nerd (wouldn't have it any other way ha). I've always been a big guy, bigger, stronger, just generally built to hurt, I was always over weight, but I never really had a problem with it. Until last year that is, I had just graduated with my masters in geology, and I got a job in west Texas to start paying off those student loans. It was a scrub job, I was living in a town that I didn't know another soul in and working 24 hour shifts. So my days consisted of working / sleeping and if I wasn't doing one of those things, I was probably eating pizza or fast food. Needless to say, I packed on the pounds pretty fast. I clearly was not happy, but I stuck with it for a full year and last November I ended up getting an opportunity to come back to Mississippi, which I jumped on. But I still wasn't happy with my weight, so as of new years I decided to do something about it. Jan 1, 2012, I weighed in at 300lbs (299.9 really, but I think its safe to round that one up) now I'm down to 275lbs, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. Anywho, that's the qucik of it, thanks for listening! (reading?)
