  1. They start out great...kids...what ya gonna do? No one has work ethics anymore...

No kidding, there's a girl at my office, she's 24 years old and this is the first real job she's ever had.  I feel like a babysitter half the time.

  2. I'm glad you brought this up yesterday, I was planning on moving to a four day split of 5/3/1 next week, but I was worried that I wasn't going to get enough volume over the week. I think this is exactly the program I need right now.  Thanks!

  3. So yes. You get swampy heaty time too. Blaaarrgggg.

Yup, this is me from mid June til the end of September.

Oh and a yoke is this.

Everyone feel free to assume that's me!

On the few occassions I have ever made my bed as an adult, I took pictures of it and sent them to people as proof.

TKD on top of Puppy running on top of pregnant friend running!  This is acceptable, carry on.

  4. Max is back!  WOO!

Following here while I wait for a current challenge thread ;)

I think I'm going to use this as my primary source of info for this challenge. It'll be my penitence for dropping my last few challenges half way through.

I woke up around 4:00 this morning unintentionally, I went ahead and got up at 4:30, made some coffee and did a little cleaning around the house before I went out to the garage.

    6/10/15:

    DL:

    75 X 5

    165 X 5

    215 X 5

    255 X 3

    255 X 3

    255 X 3

    255 X 3

    255 X 3

These went up easy enough, but something felt off about my setup, I think my cheap bar has different knurling than I'm used to.  That's something I'll have to remember for the future.

After that I had a nice big breakfast.  I was hungry most of the day yesterday, my body isn't used to expending that much energy early in the mornings anymore.  I'm going to try and up my meals today so I'm not scrambling to put some snack together at 8:00 at night to help me hit my macros.

  5. Well!

I am so honored that you'd come back in my little thread in the Monk Corner. :D

Also, concerning the Popeye Punch, I think you wouldn't get as much meat out if you punched me.

So clearly we'd all win a little bit if you were the Punchee ;)

    Mmmmmmmmm. Max Steak.

Also you have a garage gym!?! NOICE. I'm jelly. I've been wanting to make a Garaojo for years, buuuuuut I have too much junk to store in my garage. :/

Is it 90+ where you are too? (I forget where you are located :(  ) Do you ever step in your Garagym and burn your hands on your bar?

    CAUTERIZED CALLUSES. BAD. ASS.

I googled Max steak, apparently I turn into steak flavored Ruffles potato chips when punched.

My garage gym is a recent addition, so I'm not sure on the bar scorching my hands yet or not.  I've got a yoke, a couple of farmer's walk handles, and a couple of other projects coming out of the Max Power workshop right now.

I'm in Jackson, MS, so far we've had a couple of 90 degree days, nothing in excess of that yet though.

  6. I certainly hope you're the Puncher.  If you were the Punchee, you'd be, you know, dead.    Which would make us all very sad.   :(

Nah, I'm sure I could brush off getting punched so hard that the nature of my being is changed.  I'm surprisingly resilient!

  7. I have a friend who has already beat the main story... I know it's possible. But there's like 300 hours of possible content, and I LOVE side quests.  And these side quests are awesome compared to the usual 'go find 10 griffin feathers and one mysterious other thing you wont be able to find and will have to buy from a merchant for an insane amount of gold, then I'll give you a potion recipe'. So I'm a little addicted.

I'll keep you guys updated :)

There's an author I follow on twitter and he's always talking about his sidequests, things like "I'm currently plotting an assassination and promoting a local play, this game is great!"   The Witcher is definitely going in my game library as soon as I get a new computer.

  8. You sir, are a true gentleman.

    A-Classy-Scotch-Filled-Toast-On-The-News

kind of. except way more manly. i knew i needed to step up my warrior game but sheesh! that's some next level shit.

Nah, it's really kind of the best option, beer gets all sloshy when you're moving around too mcuh.  Sipping on a scotch is the perfect alternative.  Gotta skip the post workout protein shake though (best substituted with steak).

    MAXIMILLLION J. POWERTON!!!

    :D

Good to see you on the threads! *huuuuuugs*

Yeah, this is actually me stepping back a bit. I tend to have a million things in a challenge.... >.>

Which I really thrive in when I'm on, but I've had a hard time keeping up lately, so I'm taking it slow and steady this time. Better a little to get back in the habit than overwhelm myself.

Hope everything is going well with you!

Here's one to hit you into starting off your challenge strong:

    5032_cartoons-comics-animation-punching-

(I'm pretty sure this is what happens when you punch Max power)

I am doing very well, thanks for asking! I'm easing myself back into the threads by just posting in my battle log for this challenge.  I've had too many failed challenges of challenges past.

Question, in your Popeye based scenario, am I the puncher or punchee?  Both ways seem plausible to me.

Now the slips will grow more roots and be ready to plant in the soil in about 3-4 weeks.

SO EXCITE FOR SWEET POTATO PLANTS!!!

They LOVE the heat so Im really hoping they do well in this Houston weather.

    SPPPPPEAAAKKKING of Houston weather...

I went on a Puppeh run tis evening before TKD!

    e6Io3J6.png?1

    GOOD GOD I ALMOST DIED!!!

I only made it 2.5 miles. It was 91F. Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.

Puppeh was happy though. :) That's the important part.

Your sweet potato plants remind me that I need to plant my tomatoes this weekend.  Thanks sweet potato plants.

90+ degrees in extreme humidity, summer has arrived in the south.  True story, I walked into my garage last night to lift, and immediately decided to move my workouts back to mornings.

  10. Lots of awesome going on in this thread, good luck on the challenge!

Yeah. I mediate after every skirmish, every fight. I've also spent a good amount of time hunting dogs and slaying cows for food. Worst part of a boss fight is running out of food to restore health. Prior to Witcher I'd been playing Bloodborne which has a vastly different (and in many ways superior) combat system that rewards you for being aggressive. The muscle memory in my fingers haven't been reprogrammed to the slower more patient style of Witcher yet. So, lots of deaths so far. :)

I kept having that problem after Dark Souls 2.  My mind wanted me to roll out of the way of every enemy in every game.

I started playing rpgs with Assassin's creed, where you really can't be aggressive.

I then transitioned into Dragon Age, where I really never play as a warrior so I have a npc tank companion that is aggressive.

The Witcher is the first game I've really played where I have to be aggressive lol.

Once I finish the witcher, I'll have to look at Bloodborne.  People keep telling me about it!

From everything I've heard about the game those could be famous last words.

  11. It's funny you say that....

Because I read this challenge and my immediate thought was "Oh, she finally pulled back a bit.  Nice." Like I've been telling her to do for months....

I have this bad habit of highlighting stuff as I read it.  Sometimes that pays off.

That made me laugh so hard, one of my bosses had to come out of his office to investigate.

Haha, glad I could help! Bill Murray strikes again!

  12. Cheechoeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! (did I just extend a silent letter, that's strange)

    crazy-funny-gifs-groundhog-day-punch.gif

Your thread is already too much fun, and your goals are too good.  Try stepping it back a notch, think of how us lesser people feel.  Nope, scratch that comment, I'd rather just bask in the glory of it all.

I'm with you on how easy a habit tacking food is to break.  I'll track everything for a month, then wake up some Saturday and think "I'm gonna skip tracking today" then six weeks later I'll start tracking again.  Good luck!

  13. This is a great challenge.  No matter how young or old you are it is hard to face your own mortality, whether it is the 18 year old soldier making a will before going to war (I was 21 when I did this) or a grandparent with a plethora of family.  It takes a lot of courage to not only recognize that some day we all die but to step up and stare death in the face and decide to live a life worth dying for instead of living in denial.

The All-Father wove the skein of your life a long time ago. Go and hide in a hole if you wish, but you won't live one instant longer. Your fate is fixed. Fear profits a man nothing. -13th Warrior

The 13th Warrior is a very quotable movie, good choice! It should probably become the official movie of the Warriors.

Maaaaaax!  Speaking of hanging - you and Mrs. need to come visit her sister soon coughsoicanhijackyallcough.  And hey, the pants gif works.  If I put on (non workout) pants on a weekend, I call it a win... sooo... multifaceted there.

Ha, yeah.  I was trying not to get too deep, but EFF it.  It is what it is.  New mantra thingy:  "how will i feel about this on my deathbed?"  Seriously, though...

We are actually coming for Father's day weekend, but I don't think we will be hijackable that weekend, since FMP's whole family is coming down too.  But as I was reading your opening post yesterday, I was thinking, "we should just drive over some random weekend this challenge, so I can hand out with HG" because I need to start living my life more too!
