  1. Well it rained all day today....Except for the 20 minute period when I set out to do my run! 20 minute Jog/Walk. Close to 50% jogged. 2, 5 minute rounds on the heavy bag. 2, 5 Minute rounds shadow boxing. 1, 5 minute round conditioning. Stretches, with pulley stretches,
  2. Hooray for strength day! Lifting is becoming one of my favorite forms of exercise, especially curls. IDK why. Also, I decided to join Rising Heroes today, and I am very excited about it! Warm up. Squats: Warm Up Sets at 50% and 75%. 3 sets of 8 at 95lbs. Deadlift: 3 sets of 6 at 95lbs. Incline Bench Press: 3 sets of 6 at 85lbs. Standing Military Press: 3 sets of 6 at 55lbs. Barbell Curls: 3 sets of 6 at 50lbs. Barbell Row: 3 sets of 6 at 60lbs. Stretches: Same as yesterday, minus the pulley stretches.
  3. Finally over the flu and back at it! This morning I Jog/Walked 1 mile, managing to Jog for about half of it, which is great progress for me, and even did some sprinting. This evening I did forms for 20 minutes, followed by 1 5 minute round on the heavy bag, and 2 rounds shadow boxing. I did my usual cardio day stretching routine: Upper arm stretch, shoulder stretch, pulley stretches, splits, and hamstrings.
  4. This is "before," taken at my heaviest just before I started exercising.
  5. Thank you both! I didn't like taking pictures when I was bigger, but I'll see what I can dig up tonight.
  6. Hello all! This is where I'll be posting my workouts for at least the next few weeks. My current workout schedule was inspired by Bruce Lee, and some of his workouts as described in "The Art of Expressing the Human Body." Mon, Wed, and Fridays are cardio days. I'll either run/walk 1 mile, or jump rope for 10 minutes if the weather is not cooperating, followed by a HIIT/Cardio workout (usually from DareBee) or a few to several rounds on my heavy bag or shadow boxing. Tues, Thurs, and Saturdays are strength days, and as of the end of December, I am doing a weight training program inspired by Bruce Lee, and by the book "The Purposeful Primitive," by power-lifting champion Marty Gallagher. Purposeful Primitive has been especially influential on my decisions regarding weight training and nutrition, and I highly recommend it. Unfortunately I have come down with the flu. I am going to be skipping tomorrow's Cardio workout, at least, until my lungs clear up.
  7. Hello everyone! My name is Drew, and I have found this place as part of my ongoing fitness journey, and I like everything I see! As a lifelong nerd, it all greatly appeals to me. I've been watching my diet and exercising regularly for a little under a year now, and since April I have gone from 323lbs, to 243lbs, which I think is great progress. However, I still have much more work to do! I's like to get down to 223 by this April, if possible, and down to 200 or lower by the end of the year. I took martial arts lessons when I was young, and despite only being able to do occasional lessons as an adult I have always been fascinated with martial arts. I have found a JKD instructor in my area, and intend to start taking lessons next month. For these reasons, I am primarily a Monk. In addition, I intend to strive for as long as possible to become as physically fit as possible. Right now, my fitness regimen includes running (as much as I can at the moment), HIIT workouts, and weight training. I want to eventually work up to CrossFit, or a close approximation thereof. For these reasons, I will also take levels as a Ranger. Really looking forward to working with and learning from all of you!
