  1. @Guzzi Yes thanks! I think I'm getting the hang of it
  2. I guess I never really thought about it, but I also assumed that the troop numbers were unique to each troop. I suppose if that were the case there would be much larger troop numbers.
  3. Oh man I only got to go to Philmont once, but it is an experience I will never forget! I hope I can take my boys one day when they are old enough. Made some of my best memories as a kid back in troop 461 enroute to earning my Eagle scout. This makes me want to seek out a local cub scout pack for my boys!
  4. Welcome! That's really great that you want to set a good example for your kids. I know for myself my two boys are a huge motivator for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and passing down good eating/training habits. Unfortunately I cannot help much with navigation since I am also a noob here but Ill be paying attention to the thread to learn along with you. Keep up the good work!
  5. I know right? The big lifts are what I wake up for every morning. After I'm done with them I really have to dig deep to make myself do all the accessory stuff.
  6. Haha thanks. No worries. I'm pretty disciplined with my training already so I'll be doing it either way, the format of these forums just speaks to the MUD playing addict still hiding inside of me.
  7. I've competed in local AAU and USPA meets. I'd like to eventually compete in USAPL meets and the IPF when I get better numbers. I'd have to go to a different state though because USAPL doesn't have meets in my state.
  8. Flarg was a random name that I came up with back in high school when I used to play a Multi User Dungeon called Carrion Fields. Ah the memories that game evokes lol. And Longarms is as you might suspect, due to the fact that I have un-characteristically long arms for my height.
  9. Sounds great man. I'm brand new here so I have no idea what's going on but welcome!
  10. Hi fellow OK people. I live in Moore, and I train pretty exclusively on Tinker AFB at the Annex gym. Any other Tinkerites on the forums? I've competed in the AAU Christmas powerlifting meet in Tulsa the past two years and the USPA one healthy bod fit expo meet last year. Love powerlifting type training, and just trying to bring my total up to a respectable level.
  11. so I'm dumb and just realized that there is only a day left on the timeline for this. I suppose I'll do this starting this month.
  12. My challenge to myself for this next cycle is to work on bringing up my weak points and focusing on things I've been neglecting. I feel like in order to take my lifts to the next level I need to do the following: 1. Put more emphasis on back development. A. Include horizontal rowing exercises in at least two of my training sessions per week. (typically on my bench press day after my main sets) B. Work up to being able to perform 15 dead hang chin ups per set. C. Include farmer's walks and shrugs at least twice per week. (On squat day and deadlift day after the main sets) D. Include lower back isolation work on a GHR at least once a week. 2. Bring my Hamstring and glute strength up. I've always been a quad dominant squatter and deadlifter and my posterior chain is lacking. A. Perform hip thrusts twice a week. B. Perform RDL's and good mornings once each per week after squats and deadlifts. 3. Fine tune my sumo deadlift form. I tend to set up with my shoulders fwd of the bar which causes the bar to drift fwd as soon as it breaks the ground. A. Utilize and practice Chris Duffin's deadlift setup cues. B. Keep my weight low enough to ensure I don't revert to my old habits just to complete a set. 4. Maintain good warm up and mobility habits. A. Ensure I go through a good enough warm up to prevent any new injuries when lifting heavy. B. Continue to improve hip mobility in order to achieve better leverages. I am new here so I just want to say hi and I am really excited about this forum. I've needed a community like this for a long time.
  13. Hi all just discovered this community and it looks pretty neat. Im a fledgling powerlifter in the 198lb class with 375/240/430 currentmeet lifts as of December. Just looking to get stronger and meet like minded people.
