  1. I'm late! Don't leave on the adventure without me! Hey everyone! My name's Breona, and I'm a hobbit who is just starting to look outside her front door for the first time. As Bilbo did in The Hobbit, I took my time trying to decide whether or not to join in on this particular adventure or if I should wait until the next challenge. Then, I realized that if I don't start now, I might never actually get going! The timing is a little rough for me. I am a teacher at a brand new charter school which is in its second year of being open. We are understaffed (I am one of four teachers serving 76 students in grades 7-12), and one of my fellow teachers will be on parental leave any day now (his wife was due yesterday), which means that I'll be also taking over some of his responsibilities for two weeks. Did I mention that we are also a teacher-led school? That means that the teachers are also in charge of the administrative responsibilities that would normally fall to a principal and other administrative positions. Oh, and I am the vice-chair of a committee trying to start a similar school in another town, and I have to spend time this week conducting phone interviews of teacher candidates for the new school. All this, and I'm only 24 years old... Haha, this all sounds crazy now that I read it. The truth is, I really levelled up my life by taking this job! I was miserable in my last teaching position. I was always bogged down by grading papers (as a high school English teacher) and constantly trying to construct the perfect lesson plan, only to have to create another one for the next day and the next one after that. I absolutely LOVE my job (we are a project-based school, which means that students get to individually decide what topics they want to learn and create meaningful learning experiences based on their interests. SO much better than being force-fed information that is either uninteresting or irrelevant to their goals and passions.), though there are days when I question whether I can do everything that is required of me. Anyways, onto the challenge! Even though I have decided that I would like to join the Ranger guild in the long run, I want to use my first challenge to just level up my life in different areas to help me have the stamina to be successful at my job. I decided that I may as well start off among the Rebels. So, here goes! 1. Be in bed by 8:45pm. (This is only about an hour earlier than normal. I've been listening to the audiobook of Dune for the past week or so before I sleep, and it has been amazing to read for fun again! I want to keep it up, but still have time for restful sleep.) 2. Wake up by 5:30am. (I need to STOP pressing the snooze button.) 3. Spend 10 minutes each morning in prayer. (My life has been out of whack since I stopped spending the first part of my day in prayer, and I want to get back into the habit!) 4. Complete a yoga session or work-out each morning. (Neither takes more than 20 minutes.) If I can successfully form these habits, then I can get enough rest each night and have time to actually cook breakfast, get a solid workout in, pray, shower, and relax a bit before the day begins! Wish me luck! I'm going to try to post updates on my progress a couple of times a week! As I said though, things are going to be very crazy for me very soon. I appreciate all the support I can get!
