  1. It sounds like you've done a bit of introspection to evaluate where you are - that's a great start. I'm many years past being a university student, but I think a lot of folks struggle with some of the same things. I have a particularly hard time with the 'self-forgiveness' part. I hope you find the motivation and encouragement you need here. I'm new to the journey myself, so I'm afraid I don't have much solid advice to offer, so I'll simply say welcome.
  2. Congrats on taking the first steps back to health. Great family photo, BTW.
  3. Good on you for starting, O'Neofus. I'm mid-40s with two youngish kids and enough extra weight to make up the weight of another. I'm just starting too with the hopes of being more active with the kids in the coming years than I have been in the recent past. Kids can be great motivators.
  4. Hi Jason. My weight is sitting around 310lbs right now. I've just recently started watching my diet and making sure to walk everyday, along with some occasional cardio (via a DVD). I just joined (with hesitation and trepidation) after researching bodyweight exercises on the site and am also a bit intimidated by the forums - but joining is a first step too, right?
  5. Been reading NF blogs for a few days and thought I'd go ahead and join the forums - maybe even participate in the next 4-week challenge. I read the post about figuring our which 'race' I am based on my own real life - I think I'm an ogre. But I started improving my diet and doing some walking about 2-1/2 weeks ago, and I'm down from 330lbs to ~310. I know a lot of that is water weight, but I'm still hoping to lose 10+ pounds a month and be down another 50lbs by July, then maybe even down to 200 by 2018. I added the Basic Bodyweight Workout Circuit this morning - it kicked my @ss even with just one circuit (and even then I couldn't finish all the rep for each exercise), but I guess that's to be expected when my muscles aren't developed and my bodyweight is high. One nice thing about starting out in my condition is that there will be plenty of opportunities to LEVEL UP!
