  7. Day Three! I was really fiending to weigh myself. It's been 16 days since I last stepped on a scale. So I decided if I was going to cater to my neurotic self, I would just measure myself. In the last 16 days I've lost 2.2" off my waist (at belly button) and 1.1" off my hips (at widest point). Well shit. N Brekkie: 2 scrambled eggs, ~125 g cottage cheese, 1/2 peach Lunch: 1.5 roasted chicken breast, ~1.5 c nuked frozen vegg, ~1 oz emmentaler cheese, ~14 raw almonds PreWOD: 2 oz vanilla whey protein in water PostWOD/Supper: 1/8 spinach and potato frittata (<1 white potato, some spinach?, and ~1 whole egg), a shit ton of steamed brussels sprouts, ~12 oz coconut water, ~1 oz emmentaler cheese S Got in a 20 minute walk later in the day. Good work Kari. F No intentional big fun, but I sure had fun at crossfit. I even chatted it up yo! W Today was insanesies. I felt GOOD at the end of this. The trainer today asked at the end, "How did you do? Get to 15, 18?" I was very happy to tell him I made it through 21 and was working on the 24 rep round. Oh yeah, and I ripped a callus open. It hurts like balls. Warm up hamstring mobility lower back mobility 2 rounds 10 air squat 10 jump squat 10 sit ups 10 mountain climbers Strength deadlift 6 x 35 kg 4 x 45 kg 2 x 55 kg 1 x 65 kg PR (since 2006) straight leg deadlift 6 x 45 kg 4 x 55 kg 2 x 60 kg PR It was supposed to be % of one rep max but I have no idea what that is right now, so I winged it and kept my ego in check so I didn't hurt myself. The 1 x 65 kg was supposed to be 90% and felt about right based on effort. WOD 20 minute timer 3 x box jump 3 x ring rows 3 x kb swing (16 kg) Repeat for 6, 9, 12, etc etc Made it through 21 + 20 box jumps towards 24 round. 104 box jumps and 84 everything else. YEAH MAN. Cool down pigeon stretch upper back/shoulder stretch foam rolling Bonus Mission: 3/30....I've ticked off 10/30 minutes, and I know I'm going to knock the rest out watching The Walking Dead because today it feels GOOD. GOOD GOOD RECOVERY AFTER CROSSFITS. If I don't complete (I will) I'll tell you tomorrow, promise.

  12. Everyone finally seems to be recovered from colds. Moods have been much improved this week--much more giggling and playing and less grumping. We will figure out this nutrition thing. Since I'm coming off whole42, I am reintroducing things and trying to really see how it affects me. Things I know are gluten is a no-go, dairy is tolerable, peas and lentils are tolerable but not other beans (kidney/pinto/chickpeas/etc). They are such sillyheads. LOOOOL I did not know this. Something new every day....

Decided that forcing myself up after five hours of sleep to go walking isn't the best approach for gaining serenity now. In fact, sounds kind of stressful right? So I'm changing my goal to include walks I take any time of day, as well as other activities that help provide serenity. Today I felt super shits about myself, so I played wow with my hasbond and ate comfort food for dinner. F I don't know how this is going to work out for me. I don't know how to have fun anymore. I don't know how to plan for it. I feel like I need it but I don't care enough about it to pursue it. This is my bad day talking. W No WOD today, but I did go online last night and sign up for classes Wednesday and Friday. Looks like I'm going MWF instead of TThSa. I can officially mark "become a crossfitter" off my 30 before 30 list! Bonus Mission: 2/30 completed. Knocked most of it out after the kids went to bed.

  17. Day One! N I didn't skip any meals. I think I probably ate enough but not too much. The rest of the week will be gluten free. No sweeties! Breakfast: small bowl of creamy wheat because Erik made it and lack of groceries, 2 cups black coffee Lunch: 1 cervelas, ~1 oz emmentaler cheese, ~1.5 c mixed vegg Pre WOD: 2 scoops vanilla whey protein Post WOD/Supper: homemade pho with thinly sliced pork, homemade bone broth, basil, cilantro, hot sauce, and rice noodles, and a bite of cheese S Didn't get up early to do my walk before breakfast, didn't knock it out later in teh day. Oh well. F Nothing majorly fun. Like, intentional fun. It was an okay day. W Went to crossfit. My first WOD since finishing the fundamentals class. Warm up 2 min jump rope 20 kb swings 10 air squat shoulder dislocates sampson stretch Skill kb snatch power snatch w/ bar (only 20 kg) WOD 12 min AMRAP 5 kb snatch right (3 kg both sides) 5 kb snatch left 15 hand raise push ups (on knees) 20 air squats Completed 5.5 rounds Cooldown Pigeon pose Butterfly sit ups Bonus mission: 1/30 completed. I spent 30 cumulative minutes in deep squat position throughout the day. Me knees hurt.
  18. I'm definitely on a mission to prove to both my daughter and son that women should not be judged by their relationship with gravity. And if I am 20 lbs "overweight" someday...who gives a fuck if I can kill a crossfit wod? Also, down with thigh gap. I mean, I have nothing against women who have thigh gap. But I'm pretty sure I never will, and that is okay.

  21. So I've been on a mission to ditch my scale and move to biweekly progress pics and monthly weigh ins. I had Urkle take pictures this morning and my kids got in on the fun. I haven't really been trying to do anything, but I can see some small changes from last pics two weeks ago. It feels weird because I have no damn clue what I weigh. Undies fit a little better, and the area under my bra band looks smaller. Erik thinks my tum looks different as well but I don't see it. My last weigh in was two weeks ago, and I haven't lost any weight this year. I do think my body comp is slightly changing though. I honestly don't know. I'm feeling like I'll never look like Scarjo so I'm trying to learn to love the body I have. But it's hard, because this body sucks. Not just because of the way it looks, but it's far too old and beat up for as young as I am. Since today is also day one of the challenge, I'm going to put today's pics up in spoiler tags. They are NSFW (there you go Devyn!), and I'm in some underwear hasbond got me for my birthday. I'm taking all of my progress pics in this same bra/undie combo because I want to feel/see the undies fit better. But be warned...the back panel is lace so yeah my butt. Ignore stoner face, I just woke up. I'll be taking more pics in two weeks (plus a weigh in) and then again two weeks after that. The end.
