  1. Definitely counts as a workout! Even when I was way fitter and trained with free weights I've never been as sore as I've been after moving! The most stressful thing I can think of is moving. I'm always freaking out mostly while packing and trying to organize help and best systems and when can I pack what so I can still get my daily life working while my stuff is in boxes and..and..and I feel a bit sorry for you now It's great when it's over though and you can explore the new neighbourhood to figure out nice routes to take walks and where the best coffee places are and such!
  2. Hi fellow poor student I have a few favourites that I'm going to revisit and then there's just so many that I've never been too. I'm definitely going to the Design Museum and then our minister of culture and churches holds a yearly christmas concert in one of the churches. It's free and public but the space is limited. I need to search my options a bit more for the other weeks - there's bound to be lot's of interesting things going on!
  3. Ohh forgot I also voted yesterday! That definitely counts as a culture thing! I love voting days but the actual day is on tuesday I'm just not able to then...
  4. Things are going great for me after the slow beginning! Since the challenge started I've had great dinners - on tuesday i was super close to forgetting it because it's knit night and time had just flown by that day. At the last minute I remembered and made kale and egg timbales in the microwave.. Very simple but filling and nutricius and i would have snacked on the cafe's delicous cakes otherwise. Now I only had a cookie which is fine. My next challenge will involve more restricting on snacks but this one is about setting up systems and routines. It turns out that I'm doing most of my challenge travelling by bike but I suspect I'll do more walking on the weekends. Tonight I'm off to the Tivoli garden which will count as culture in my Life Side Quest. I'm very curious as to how the moves app will track the rollercoasters... Fortunately I can correct it when it mis-tracks something. Today it had cheated me of 4.5km biking and had tracked them as travelling (bus, train, car and such). I'm going to use Apfelstrudil's idea of allocating kilometers to time doing chores; 20min chores = 1km closer to Bree I went to the library yeaterday but had to go back today because I've already finished one of the books I borrowed. I took two more home with me. So so far my Life Side Quest is going splendid as well! Progress: Km: 22/216 Bbww: 0/12 Dinner: 3/36 LSQ: 1 book 2 culture
  5. It has a website but the things are actually happening on the tumblr. It's far less strict than flylady - including the language so it's probaby not for everybody. How's today going? I'm about to do steve's bodyweight workout...
  6. Yay for a clean, organized kitchen! I can definately relate to a small kitchen- being in Copenhagen and such. Fortunately my dad has rebuild mine and has made it very functional and surprisingly spacious. He owns a boat and has done for many years so I can recognize some nautical thinking in it. In my bathroom as well which is about 1m^2!! It's an excellent idea to allocate km to cleaning/household time. I'm stealing that since I'm trying to change habits in that department as well. I follow 'unf*** your habitat' instead of flylady and she has a system of 20/10 - 20min cleaning and then 10min of relaxing! Maybe 20min doing "chores" could be 1km for me??
  7. I'm on from the phone so this is going to be quick (and probably auto-failed a bit). It IS indeed a mish mash of the black dog, anxiety and also evasiveness... I'll be happy to talk further - one of the things I don't have is social anxiety Today I came back strong! Biked for 15km in a strong head wind but at least it was sunny which is rare here this time of year. I've downloaded an app, Moves, which can track my biking and number of steps without me doing anything, perfect! At the end of the week I'm going to accumulate the steps and figure out how far I've walked. I'm also thinking of adding some house- and homework to my km travelled. Maybe 30min work can give 1km travelled? Edit: I'm about to stop under some birches to eat a simple supper. Hobbitton has just become out of sight due to the undulating landscape.
  8. Oh Ice cream is one of my vices as well among all the others though well done on keeping a sensible portion today! And great walk!
  9. Yay! I took a chance and borrowed it on the library on my way home today. I could only get the Danish version but have ordered the English one.
  10. We have almost completely the same stats! (I last weighed myself 4 years ago but can again fit the clothes from back then) The measurements fit too except that I'm a teensy bit more pear shaped than you. Yay for our curvy, hourglassy, and proportional bodies The fun thing is that our goals aren't that different either! Walking, bodyweight or other floorstuff, something food-related, and something literatic (you write, I read...). It's super late where I am so in my tiredness I might be a bit too happy by this, sorry for that - I'm following anyways
  11. I'm already in a slump! It seems like I'm not very comfortable with adapting when my plans kilt a little... I had a little logistical problem yesterday as i was planning to bike to a body awareness sort of class - 7km each way. A little too late I remembered that my bike was parked at the station instead of home. In hindsight I could just have walked to the station and biked from there (rendering me on time) but somehow I thought that my only option now was to speedwalk to the station, take the train and be a little late... At least i made an awesome dinner of ovenbaked salmon and a sauteed red cabbage salad. I've also finished the book I'd only started yesterday and joined the NF bookclub. We're planning on readig a book during this challenge. Come and join the poll is still up on which one and we have 4 great books in the pool!
  12. I really like your approach and am looking forward to see what the Jester is putting you through! It seems like a great way to deal with us procrastinators out there - especially since you've also made up the system based on theory! Which leads me to... I better get a hold on the two books! I definately recognize myself in your description with the model. Following
  13. Me too! I've yearned for a book club for a long time now! I've never actually tried one before so I don't really know what to expect and what others expect of me. But since it's you guys (I'm thinking of all rebels as my posse = not-scary) It can't go bad.
  14. Thank you! it does help. When I first read your starting post I couldn't for the life of me figure out what those tardys was at your job. Kept thinking it was something to eat and kept pictureing it as the Dr Who Tardis. Ten of those would be a lot! And where would you get them from? Was there some kind of epic bisquit I'd missed all these years? ...and then I read on to find that it was being late Thanks for the mental image though, I had fun in the mean time.
  15. I'm putting Baudolino by Umberto Eco in the mix to spice things up a bit. It's been sitting unopened on my bookshelf for 13 years! The poor book. I have goodreads. I only started it last month and am actually forgetting it too often still. Would love to use it more!
  16. I can get them all on my library and havn't read any of the nominated so I'm in for whatever we decide! According to laurabzz's post we should apparently have a poll? I'm not really a deciderer..
  17. Wonderful! Seems like the nerds will fill up the inn's rooms in 6 weeks time.. I'd love a fitbit but for my wallet's sake I'd better stick with runkeeper and a spreadsheet.
  18. Welcome! I'm super confused here as well My guess is that we're not the only one since this IS the Level 1 Club after all . Isn't it pretty much mandatory? I think you've made some great goals. Measurable, attainable and helpful in getting you to where you want to be. Best of luck with the challenge!
  19. Wow, your story is very inspirational! Congratulations on the first 100+lbs! I'm working up to actually doing some weightlifting in a gym. Earlier on I've done some starting strength but fell out of it. Would you mind explain your workout a little more? I'm super apprehensive about going back and both not knowing precisely what to do and/or looking like a fool... I think i need to set up grading on my goals as well - what a neat idea.
  20. Happy challenge! About the bruises... if you only just started biking much more than before you might get a sore butt in the beginning. I once had a gel cover for my saddle and it did help but after a while I'd still bruise. Slowly that faded away and now I'm completely sore free. Yay Hope the nomoresorebutt mini-quest is over soon
  21. I'm starting over this time as well Have you seen Melissa Joulwan's book 'Well Fed'? She outlines a different kind of meal plan (available in the free sample) where you prepare your meat and veg in the weekend and then can make a bunch of different things in the following week. It's follows the paleo diet, but if you don't want that the principle is really interesting I think. http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/about-well-fed/ Here's to a great challenge!
  22. Yay! I'm looking forward to a celebration party at 'the Pony' I do a bit of transportational biking but would like to keep up the habit now winter is coming - I'm in Copenhagen, Denmark. So Bree shouldn't be that difficult with my magic backpack that can hold everything from bike to rollerskates and all the gear needed. I'm mainly reading fluff at the moment. Right now it's 'The No. 1 Ladies detective agency' series. And just because maps are awesome 'On the map' which I'm reading in English to help me getting back to reading more notfluff in English. What are you reading (and crafting - I love crafts)?
  23. Main quest: In a few months time I'd like to be in Rivendell fresh and healthy. I have a history of making my goals too large and judge myself too heavily so for this challenge I'm trying something a little different and make some more attainable goals of... Specific goals 1) Walking to Bree and the Prancing Pony (135mi/217km - about 5k a day) I may walk, bike, run, rollerskate and other woman powered activities. 2) Do the Beginner bodyweight workout 3 times a week and 3) Eat a healthy dinner 6 nights a week Life side quest I'm working hard to overcome some mental difficulties which I've struggled with for years. I'm finally at a place where there is light at the end of the tunnel but my life is still not where I want it to be. In this process it's been hard to keep up with things that interests me. A few weeks ago I went on a trip where my passion for reading and culture in general was rekindled. With a lot of enthusiasm for life in return. Reading (no set amount) and museum visits or other (at least once a week - can be grouped if necessary)
  24. Nooo... I've just (re-)joined and am setting reading as a life goal. it would be fun to have a reading squad but maybe next time
  25. Velkommen til! I have this image of the super secret scandi underground of nerdy gnomes popping up like mushrooms whenever i see one around here . Makes me smile. Are you in Malmö?
