  1. So, I am just trying out this paleo thing and have (for two days) been sticking to it. My biggest problem is that I have a sweet tooth. Does anyone know of any paleo-friendly dessert foods, or good rich tasting snacks that would not kill this lifestyle? Also recipes for them would be nice Thanks, -Wkj
  2. I scramble my eggs with carrots, celery, and spinach. Add some ham or bacon for the meat and you got your self a breakfast worthy of making your day a good one. -Wkj
  3. Thanks Everyone for your advice. I do not have a smartphone, but I do have an Ipod touch, so I will be looking into runkeeper by the end of the day. I will also add in a slight incline as well as running outdoors once a week to get used to it. I do know for a fact that I was going faster outdoors than I should have. On the return run, I slowed myself way down, but it felt much slower than I treadmill run. I will definitely stick with it and give it some time. Thanks again, -Wkj
  4. I have my first 5K coming up in late June. I am currently doing the C25K on a treadmill. Today I decided to run outside, not a C25K run, but a recreational run. I was dead after four minutes of running. Does anyone have any advice for transitioning from treadmill/indoor running to outdoor running? The reason I use the treadmill is that I can regulate my speed as well as keep track of the time for interval running. At the end of next week, I stop interval running and start running the entire workout of C25K. Thanks all, -Wkj
  5. <-------- THIS GUY!! hello diablo, goodbye life -Wkj
  6. My wife and I love Dave Ramsey's advice. Though we don't agree with everything he says, his advice has helped us turn around from living pay check to pay check to now having an emergency fund (Baby Step 1), and paying off most of our debt. We liked the class so much that we are facilitating the class (Financial Peace University, very similar to Total Money Makeover) for the third time. -Wkj
  7. Currently working my way through the C25K plan, on week four. All my run speeds on a treadmill are 6.0. I am hoping to keep this up so my first 5K (Color Run) in June will be at a 30min pace. Though being pelted with the "Color" may slow me down. Go go action race day adrenaline! -Wkj
  8. Excellent, you all rock! I will give each of these suggestions a shot and keep you all updated with my progress. Thanks, Wkj
  9. Thanks for all your support! I plan to post in the workout battle logs starting today. Thanks again, Wkj
  10. Hello and thanks in advance for any advice you can give. Quick background story: When i was a child, i was diagnosed as having an allergy. I kid you not, I was allergic to "Green Growing Things"...So needless to say, i rarely ate my veggies, as they would a) cause a reaction and i would throw up anything and everything. (Before I was diagnosed, my parents fed me over the toilet because they knew what was coming). Now, who knows if the Doc was a quack or what, but since that time, 20 some odd years later, I still don't eat veggies, but I (to my knowledge) do not have this allergy anymore. The problem is I still tend to have a gag reflex to most vegetables, mostly due to the texture, and not the taste. I have even experienced this when eating an apple, though rarely. I want to get into the Paleo Diet, but have no idea how, or where to begin with such a limited palette. My question to the Rebellion is what vegetables will be the easiest to disguise when cooked into other foods? Usually the crunch gives it away and sends a shock to my brain to close my throat and refuse to swallow any food coming its way. Again, any help would be appreciated. -Wkj Edit: I guess it is too early for me, but I just noticed there is a forum for Paleo. If it's possible for a mod to move this, that would be great.
  11. Hello all on NF! I have always struggled with weight, but was never considered fat. I guess I hide it all too well. At my last doc checkup, i was told i am obese, have high blood pressure, elevated levels of sodium and blood pressure, and to add insult to injury, my family has a history of heart problems as well as diabetes. Again, by the US standards I am about 30-50 pounds overweight and into the obese category. My uncle is an award winning body builder and my father is built like a brick wall. Despite having the look for someone to lift weights, I spent my recreational hours in front of the TV playing FFIII as a kid. Now, sadly, I am built like a wall made of moist clay. My wife and I are training for our first 5k but I have seen little results in either of us. I stumbled upon this website, and apart from the nerdiness that I share with the community, love the information found within. Tomorrow (later today) i will start the beginner workout that Steve has posted and go from there. Wish me luck, and I hope to get to know you all as i begin my transformation to a healthier me. -Wkj
