  1. That was kind of my thought. I mean, if I craved cookies after working out, I'd ignore it, but milk? I never have craved milk prior to doing Crossfit, so I figure that those two things we related and it was something my body needed.
  2. Ooh, awesome! Good to know. Well, I missed the blog entry for last week. All of a sudden it was Monday. However, I did manage everything else last week, so at least only one thing instead of many slipped through the cracks. Today is a new week full of goals to be met!
  3. Ok, managed to make everything last week as far as goals, although walking in this heat has become a challenge. Getting super early is about the only thing that works, really. This week I am on track to complete my goals for the week, but I still need to read 20 pages of nonfiction and make a blog entry. The 4 of July totally screwed up my diet. Oh, the bread.... So I am back on doing strict Paleo/Primal for the foreseeable future, the only exception being milk, as I seem to crave milk after working out. Hope everyone else is doing well - I hope to catch up with everyone else's threads more tomorrow.
  4. Have met all of my goals so far this week but the blog entry. I need to write a blog today or tomorrow and then run tomorrow and I should be good.
  5. Wow, crickets! I am guesing not such a large population of NF in the SoIl area!
  6. Officially hit all of my goals last week, so I am pretty happy with that. This week I have managed to get in a swim and walk 45 minutes, plus run once. Hooray on that front. The downside is I went out to eat with my family and had bread AND pasta, which was not smart. However, I am looking at it as one meal out of a week of healthy meals, so I figure i will not beat myself up over it. My digestive system has already taken me to task for this so lesson learned!
  7. Great goals - I have a similar yarn problem, but with cats I had to give up knitting - just wasn't worth the scratches. I ended up giving a lot of yarn to my younger sister and her daughter. Also, your pics show great results so far - keep up the excellent work!
  8. Well, I have to run today and tomorrow because I've only run once this week so far and I have to run three times a week. I did get my walking in yesterday, but it was light walking, only 45 minutes. I was still sore from the barefoot hike the night before - walking barefoot uses different muscles apparently! Yowza.
  9. Yesterday did a two hour hike, which I am counting for both the hiking once a week portion of things as well as walk more than 45 minutes portion of things, too.
  10. I will either use the foreman grill for steaks, or put them in the oven on broil. Steaks do not need to cook for very long if you like them slightly rare. I have found that 3 minutes on the Foreman usually gets them done all the way through, with no smoke. 5 minutes on each side in the oven on broil does the same. My trouble is I cannot really effectively use the crockpot without turning all of the contents brown. Not sure why that happens.
  11. Great goals and such thorough planning! I lookforward to reading your blog as well as keeping up with your progress! Way to be ambitious!
  12. Loren, Will do! I will have to keep up with what you are doing, too. Maybe we can both find excellent recipes to swap. Yesterday I walked for well over 45 minutes, more like 90 minutes in addition I kept up with Crossfit in the morning and managed to read the 20 pages I am allotted this week. Actually I read over 48 pages this week and the book is interesting enough I might even have it finished here pretty soon, so I picked a good one for the first week. To make walking easier I am trying to walk to do errands. I have to go to the post office today, so the plan is to just walk there and back. Yesterday I walked to the pharmacy and back and the pharmacy is a bit further away than I anticipated, but that just meant I went to bed early and slept really well!
  13. Lots of sun and hot days here in Southern Illinois, too. I used to drink tons of water - almost a couple of gallons a day as I do not drink coffee or soda or anything else really. Since losing 50 pounds it has been harder to consume water. I know part of it is with the weight loss I probably need less fluids, but I just am not as thirsty. Thanks for the reminder and I will make sure to do my best to keep up with water needs.
  14. Today I made a new salad. I've been putting chicken in salad and using the homemade pico de gallo or guacamole for a dressing, today I made a dressing out of vinegar, olive oil, garlic, basil, oregano, and thyme instead. I mixed it in with the salad along with some broiled steak instead of chicken. It is pretty good. Lettuce is in season here, so it is tasty with lettuce, broccoli, green pepper, onions, and steak.
