  2. Hey Everyone, This is my first challenge in the Warrior Guild, for the last challenge I started stronglifts 5x5 and now I'm at SQ-55kg, OHP-30kg, DL-80, BP-42.5, and Row 40kg. I've been incredibly proud of my progress and I was really looking forward to getting in on this challenge, and then Finals got in the way. So now that I only have 3 exams left I'm back to the Rebellion. Since this challenge only has bit left I just thought I'd add some extra time on to mine to make up for it. Goal #1 Pillars of Olympus Work on form for all of the 5 SL lifts I haven't been hurting yet, but I know that if I don't get this right I'm going to feel it down the line. So Ima buckle down do my homework on form and upload them sweet formchecks, even if it means I have to take down the weight a bit to practice. Goal #2 Unwavering Focus Restart a daily meditation practice I used to have one, idk where it went or why I stopped so I may as well get back to it. Goal #3 Cornucopia Track food intake and get up to 2300cal a day minimum I'm really bad at remembering to eat... yeah... Goal #4 Library of Alexandria Finish a god-damn book! There we go!

In other news I just proposed a study group for my course (making those accountability systems yo!) and the idea is really popular I was pretty nervous to post the idea on the facebook group, I'm one of the few foreign students in the class and I get kinda nervous for them to see my written french. Though I'm glad it was well received and I'm looking forward to having an IRL accountability group

  7. Oh I see that sounds interesting, it almost sounds like dancing haha I'd imagine it works a fair amount of balance and stuff
  8. I'm not really familiar with "walk away the pounds" what does it entail? I mean so long as your challenge helps cultivate a habit I think anything goes really
  9. Perhaps something like dedicate 20 minutes a day to make sure everything is clean and in it's correct place per day and an hour one day a week? How much are you going to do walk away from those pounds? when? How much are you going to reduce your smoking, over what time frame? Etc... Hope that helped
  10. Oooh I like your version a lot more. The other idea I had was to specifically design a fakemon to represent each stat. I had invented Spartoi->Achillio->Herculon for Strength and a Monkey doing tricks for Dexterity haha But I much prefer your system although perhaps it fits raising a single pokemon better? and you need to raise exp in multiple stats for it to lvl up?
  11. I just found this thread My girlfriend and I have been doing our own Walk to Mordor for a while, although we did occasionally go a month or so without updating... The link is my signature, I believe we are somewhere around a combined 700 miles. It's been good though, since we have a long distance relationship (Washington and France) it feels like we're doing something together!

  13. Oooh I'm interested! And I love one arm rows , seeing as I've been having a hard time with barbell rows maybe working one arm at a time some more might do me well I will get started as soon as I get back to my regular gym (seeing as my parent's gym doesn't... have free weights )
  14. What a beautiful descriptor I mean so far the strength training people, such as yourself, have been extremely welcoming. I think a lot of it has to do with the lifelong aversion to sport I've had until about a year or so... (typical nerd problem hehehe... ) and weight training seems to be accompanied by the most severe of those stereotypes

I've been thinking about what guild to aim for after this challenge and I figure Warrior is the natural progression, but that's causing a weird identity crisis; I've never thought of myself as someone who is strong and now I'm getting there it's freaky, I almost want to retreat to my endurance sports that I was doing before... but I'm really enjoying the strength a lot more. Really it's that, an identity thing. I need to get around to this weeks novel experience, but as someone who really likes my routine and comfort zone I figured it would really help. In the financial goal I had, I've blasted through it, I have saved €240 and i just opened a high interest locked account at the bank that should let my savings grow for 4 years (the time it will take me to finish my studies) and if I understood correctly it will give me credit, which is something I've never dealt with before ☺ If anyone knows about that stuff I'll be happy for some advice
  16. I like your goals William, I'm glad that you'll be joining us on our collective adventure! I think a few of the goals might need to be quantified and measurable so that you can track yourself, just some advice I also really like the smoking related goal, I've almost entirely quit casual smoking except for nights on the town. I'm down to like ~3 a week. I need to get around to properly planning my groceries too. I'm looking forward to your updates

  18. Thank you so much @Deckard Gainz I really feel a lot better, I'll try and get comfortable on video and then I'll send a few to the form check, also it's a great comfort to know that I have this whole rebel community backing me up

Yeah the last guy I used to go with (the one who strained a hamstring cos "warmups are for wimps") was filled with bro-science (sprinkled with a fair amount of sexism) and constantly mocked my work-out for either not being manly enough or for being way too difficult for "someone like me" Looking back I have no clue why I went to the gym with him? He's nice outside of the gym but he's a real pain in there. And if I think I need help I'll just ask whoever seems knowledgeable and approachable
  20. So with my friend, I went to the branch of the gym I go to in my parents' town. Though we ended up doing a bunch of 20kg squats to practice form and then a few basic sets of bodyweight instead of my standard Workout A of SL5x5, so I think I'll go again tomorrow to actually do my SL5x5 A cos I really don't feel like I did enough today to merit a rest day. Also this guy kept giving us pointers on squats, but most were pointed at my friend (who is a cute girl so I think he had other motives), and none were really pointed at me, so either my form is fine or he was just hitting on my friend and couldn't care less about what I do. But what I found is that afterwards I couldn't land any squats properly, no straining or anything, just I wasn't feeling any one the right muscle groups in action and it kinda frustrated me tbh... I think I was thinking too much? Or was self-conscious that my friend was watching me? Idk... In any case, I think I might stick to going to the gym alone cos other people seem to distract me, and make me not follow my plan. What do you guys think? In other news I'm making chicken and avocado wraps for lunch and I'm very excited
  21. My brother cosplayed Link from LoZ recently and he used chaps as opposed to riding boots, it also helped with the cold as he wore short pants over them

  23. My team would be: Machop for Strength, with my progress at StrongLifts5x5 as his measure Aipom for Dexterity, I'm not too sure what I could use to measure progress there? Geodude for Constitution? Porygon for Intelligence, using good grades, or reading books to add to exp? Charisma would be Skitty Slowpoke for Wisdom? It seems like I haven't thought this through as much as I thought I had
  24. So I was thinking of a way to make my character in the NerdFitness sense, and I was trying to take inspiration from my favourite franchises and what not and then I had an idea. And seeing as my biggest nerdy interest is Pokemon, I stuck with that. What if we made a leveling up system based on Pokemon: We make a team of 6 Pokemon each one representing each skill; STR, CON, INT, DEX, WIS, CHA, (or speed, endurance, etc) Come up with a system for leveling them up, based on our own real life progress in that skill. And then we evolve them when we have made a certain amount of progress. So for example, I might choose Machop to represent my strength skill. So whenever I make measurable progress in my strength, using my squat 5rm as a measure, I give exp to Machop, and then at 100kg he could evolve into Machoke. etc etc Only a draft of an idea I had floating around, if anyone is interested we could work on developing it further. What do you guys think?
  25. Hey I really like your last goal in particular, keeping The Rebellion updated frequently is one of my own issues, and it's like a self-perpetuating loop; post more, get more buddies, more buddies, more support, more progress, more reasons to post. Following
