  1. Thanks! We got back last night and it was amazing. When I get time this week I'm going to get my Battlelog started and write about it there. So, considering the craziness involved with the wedding and honeymoon I'm going to chalk this challenge up to a trial run. I didn't hit very many targets and completely fell off the wagon the last two or three weeks. Now that I'll have more time and mental bandwidth on my hands it's time to pick myself up and get back at it.
  2. Day 17 Quest 1: Fail Quest 2: Fail Quest 3: Pass Life Quest: Fail Horray! I finally passed a quest for the first time in almost two weeks haha. 3. Thanks! Sounds like I have found my home!
  4. Sooo.... It's been almost two weeks since my last post and I'm fairly certain I haven't achieved any daily goal since. Between an overdue project at work and the final stretch of wedding planning (less than two weeks!) my mental bandwidth and willpower have been zapped. Getting my sleep and workouts in have been my priority, even if I haven't met any targets, and will continue through the rest of the challenge.
  5. Day 5 Quest 1: Fail Quest 2: Fail Quest 3: Rest day Life Quest: Fail It's a good thing these aren't scores counting towards a degree haha... Anyway I almost hit my getting out of and into bed targets, missing each by less than 25 minutes so I'm at least getting closer to hitting those goals. Yesterday should have been a workout day, but some of the people helping with our wedding were available to have a meeting to go over some stuff. Legs today and arms/shoulders tomorrow to finish out the week.
  6. I just wanted to drop in and say hello to everyone. For the current challenge as a newbie I'm participating as a Rebel, but for the next challenge I'll be moving over here to become a mighty warrior. See everyone around!
  7. I understand the struggles of a flexible work schedule, especially being fairly new to it. This week has forced me get to the office much earlier than normal though and I'm finding that the days seem longer and more productive. Definitely worth it once the sleep adjustment becomes a habit, just keep on scaling back the time little by little and you will get there.
  8. This is an excellent set of SMART goals for your first challenge. Good luck!
  9. I'm right with you on the sleep, but great job hitting your other targets!
  10. When it comes to vegetables I've found that the microwavable steam bags tend to work best as far as ensuring you have enough available. I cannot count the number of times I've put a tray-full of broccoli in the oven thinking it'll last for 2-3 days and not after any left over after dinner.
  11. Day 4 Quest 1: 50% Quest 2: Fail Quest 3: Rest day Life Quest: Fail I actually managed to get out of bed on time, but due to work (I had to clean install Windows 10 and setup my dev environment) I was up until around 1:00 AM. Nothing else was accomplished. Blah, hopefully I can refocus this weekend and get on track.
  12. Day 3 Quest 1: Fail Quest 2: Pass Quest 3: Pass Life Quest: Fail Workout Deadlift 15 x 61.2 kg (warm-up) 6 x 93 kg (warm-up) 3 x 124.7 kg 3 x 124.7 kg 3 x 124.7 kg 3 x 124.7 kg 3 x 129.2 kg 3 x 129.2 kg 3 x 129.2 kg Reverse-Grip Bent-over Row 10 x 61.2 kg 10 x 61.2 kg 10 x 61.2 kg 10 x 61.2 kg Wide-Grip Cable Row 12 x 54.4 kg 10 x 54.4 kg 10 x 54.4 kg Straight-arm Pushdown 10 x 49.9 kg 10 x 54.4 kg 8 x 54.4 kg Lat Pulldown 10 x 54.4 kg 10 x 54.4 kg 10 x 54.4 kg Basically the same result as yesterday. I'm considering updating the Life Quest to something that doesn't require as much of a time commitment.
  13. This is good to know, thanks for the advice. I may be modifying my Life Quest then because with wedding plan and such over the course of the next few weeks it's looking less likely I'll have a full hour block to dedicate to course work.
  14. Very nice! Keep on keeping on!
  15. At my old job we used to have a few vendors who would gift us some of the sugariest sugar candy that ever sugared... and they always put them out on the cabinets right beside my cubicle.
  16. Day 2 Quest 1: Fail Quest 2: Pass Quest 3: Pass Life Quest: Fail Workout Bench Press 15 x bar (warm-up) 15 x 61.2 kg (warm-up) 6 x 83.9 kg (warm-up) 3 x 93 kg 3 x 93 kg 3 x 93 kg 3 x 93 kg 3 x 93 kg 3 x 93 kg 3 x 93 kg Incline Dumbbell Press 10 x 24.9 kg 10 x 24.9 kg 10 x 24.9 kg 8 x 24.9 kg Incline Dumbbell Fly 10 x 11.3 kg 10 x 11.3 kg 10 x 11.3 kg Dips (chest variation) 10 10 10 Pec Deck 10 x 27.2 kg 10 x 27.2 kg 10 x 27.2 kg So the second day wasn't quite as bad as the first. Sleep is still an issue as is making time to work on the Android Development course (I played Destiny for most of the evening after the gym). I did manage to get my eggs cooked and coffee set to brew this morning and tracked my workout so there's progress at least.
  17. I didn't know that haha, thanks for the heads up. I agree, it would be easier to start on a Monday which is usually when my focus is at its best.
  18. This is exactly my problem. I'm starting to discover, for myself at least, that the availability of all these distractions is enough to curtail the time I have available for working towards actual goals. I've recently began taking steps to mitigate the issue, starting by doing a digital audit of all the social media/online accounts I have and deleting the ones I don't use while at the same time uninstalling all unnecessary apps from my phone. This has definitely cleared up some mental bandwidth and I would recommend this to you or anyone as a start.
  19. Awesome start to the challenge!
  20. I can definitely relate. My weekdays are very routine-oriented but once Friday evening hits all bets are off. I can usually stick to some semblance of a routine on most of Saturday, but come Sunday my willpower is mostly nonexistent.
  21. I'm weird in the sense that I eat my big dessert WITH my dinner haha. Good luck on your challenge!
  22. Day 1 Quest 1: Fail Quest 2: Fail Quest 3: Rest day Life Quest: Fail Many factors played into this rough start. My son woke up in the middle of the night presumably from a nightmare so waking up on time did not happen. His birthday party was also Sunday and in the midst of preparing for it I forgot to prep breakfast. We had a bunch to do after and it was probably 1:00 AM before we finished and got to bed. Needless to say breakfast didn't get made again and I slept late. It's a workout day today though so I'll get back on the rails with tracking it and starting my Android course this evening.
  23. I actually have tried those and they were delicious. The problem was they didn't taste so awesome the next day even though I stored them in Tupperware in the refrigerator. I may need to try them in the freezer to see if they keep better for me.
