  1. The past two weeks have been horrible. School has gotten so horribly busy and then with a mini-vacation and my sister visiting, my entire schedule has been thrown off. I would give you updates, but there's nothing to say besides I've fallen off the bandwagon and it's going to take some work to get back on. Goals this week: -Go back to eating right and not eating out -Get to the gym at least 3 times Wish me luck. I need to turn this failure into some sort of success...
  2. Week 1: 1) Gym - I've been 5 times this week and am hoping to either go again today for a run or do a bit extra tomorrow to make up for yesterday's miss. 2) I've been doing really well with food! I've only had two outside meals (one lunch meeting and a bit of food at an event last night). 3) The running I am very behind on. To clarify, I want to be able to get to two miles on a treadmill...running outside has always been a lot tougher and I will focus on that in another challenge, I think. I gave the treadmill a shot this week and I got in a mile, but I had to take breaks after every quarter-mile. I'm hoping next week I can cut down the breaks and eventually get to a full mile and then build from there. 4) My sleeping schedule has been consistent and I've gotten a decent amount of research done this week. However, I am still not saying prayers as regularly as I should and these past two days have consisted of little sleep and even less work. I guess I needed a couple days off as a weekend, but I need to get back on track. Big week ahead. One more update: I started tracking my weight the week before this challenge. When I did my weekly check-in on Wednesday, I found I had lost two lbs! Let's hope that pattern continues throughout the 6 weeks!
  3. Hey! So I decided to update once a week rather than everyday. Here it comes...
  4. That's what I'm hoping! Thanks citabean!
  5. I'm in London until August. Am planning on visiting Cambridge at some point and I love Scotland, so will definitely be up there before I leave in August.
  6. I guess I was responding to you as you were responding to me. I think I've found my NF soulmate! Thanks for the encouragement; it's much needed!
  7. You've got some awesome goals and I am totally jealous I didn't think of water nymphs! Good luck and I look forward to seeing your progress!
  8. Hello! I'm a total newbie at Nerd Fitness, but excited to start on a journey I should've taken a while ago. Basically, due to varied reasons, I have spent the last year or so gaining a lot of weight and losing all sense of health and fitness (as well as a lot of self-confidence). I've spent a lot of time trying to make health a routine in my life, but unfortunately, I have no willpower when it comes to junk food (especially when I'm upset...typical girl, right?). I started reading the Nerd Fitness blog a while back and have recently bought the Rebel Fitness Guide (RFG). Today was my first official day starting the workouts. So, here goes... Race: Human, for now, although I'd like to metamorphose into something cooler at some point. Class: Adventurer Starting Attributes: STR - 2 DEX - 2 STA - 2 CON - 1 WIS - 5 CHA - 3 Goals: 1) Get to the gym 6 times a week (alternating between structured and unstructured workouts, as shown in RFG) ---> STR+2, STA+1 2) Eat healthy. I know this is a broad goal, but I aim to stay away from my "comfort foods" (i.e. pizza, doner kebab, ice cream) completely, limit eating out to Subway or a once-a-week cheat meal. ---> CON+4 3) Run 2 miles straight without a break ---> DEX+2, STA+2 4) Get into a consistent routine with life. I'd like to start sleeping well, eating well, working out, practicing my faith more regularly and being able to balance work/school and having some semblance of a life. ---> CHA+2 Note: I wanted to put in a weight goal, but it seemed too daunting to hold myself to it. I hope that the above actions will naturally result in some weight loss. I also think self-confidence is something I could work on, but again, I think the above will increase that as time goes on. Height: 5'2" Starting Weight: 175 lbs *Don't have access to a measuring tape currently... The Plan: As mentioned above, I'm working off of Steve's Rebel Fitness Guide workout plan. I won't be following a full Paleo diet, but I have been doing a decent amount better watching what I eat in the past few weeks and have been tracking calories and exercise through MyFitnessPal and FitBit. Consistency is my biggest concern. I suck at keeping up with workouts and eating healthy. I'm hoping that being part of this challenge will keep me accountable for everything I do and will help me stay on track with working out and eating right. Here's to making change happen! Good luck to everyone!
