  1. Week 2 Recap Goal 1: Diet Sweets Week 2 - 6/28 misses = 21% = C Cumulative - 13/56 = 23% = C+ Gluten Week 2 - 5/28 misses = 18% = B Cumulative - 11/56 = 20% = C+ Goal 2: Exercise 4 workouts = 133% = A. One of these was yoga, which felt good, but didn't feel like a "workout." Goal 3: Clean Daily 15 minutes 6/7 - The kindergarten teacher did a "home visit" on Friday, so I did lots of extra picking up, dusting, etc. to get ready for that. Cleaned my bathroom too. Somehow I feel like I'm constantly cleaning, but never get very far ahead. Big Projects 1/3 - No progress this week.
  2. Friday - 1 Gluten, 0 Sugar, 0 Workout, 1 Cleaning Saturday - 0 Gluten, 3 Sugar, 1 Workout (Yoga), 1 Cleaning Sunday - 2 Gluten, 2 Sugar, 1 Workout (Run), 1 Cleaning
  3. Small town street dances are the best, especially with a live band! I don't think I could pass that up either. Any chance you could have something other than beer? BYOB? Have fun, but definitely get caught up on the sleeps. The sickness sounds yuck, and you probably need the rest to get over it. Have a great weekend, whatever it ends up entailing!
  4. Thursday - 0 Gluten, 0 Sugar, 0 Workout, 1 Cleaning Yoga or BodyPump tomorrow morning? Both classes are at the same time.
  5. Could you call back to the doc (or his nurse or whatever), and tell them that you'll run out before the appointment? Usually if I do that with my thyroid med, they'll write a prescription to cover the days you're missing. Considering it's only 5 days, maybe that's more hassle than it's worth, but maybe not? If you miss a few days, are you likely to start calling into work, missing workouts, feeling like crap, etc?
  6. Wednesday - 0 Gluten, 0 Sugar, 1 Workout, 1 Cleaning. Totally rocked yesterday! I was way under calories. It wasn't really on purpose, but was just super busy at work, and because I had to teach Zumba in the evening, so I didn't have time for the mindless snacking. This morning, my weight was almost back to where I ended my last challenge. Made a conscious decision to do some cleaning, and took out the garbage before plopping on the couch to watch my DVR'd episode of So You Think You Can Dance. I was ridiculously good, made me cry a few times, and made me ache to dance like that... Plus, Kenny Ortega was the guest judge (choreographer for Dirty Dancing, and director for High School Musicals, and tons of other big credits). Gotta keep this rolling!
  7. Tuesday - 1 Gluten, 1 Sugar (stupid dessert I made this weekend), 0 Workout, 1 Cleaning. So I put away a bunch of junk on the kitchen counter, and "caught up" on dishes. Made supper, and got the pans dirty again. SMH. On the positive side, my work trip got postponed, so instead of traveling this weekend, I can hopefully catch up on some cleaning (especially dishes and laundry), and be able to tackle additional jobs next week.
  8. My oldest is 5, and he really wants to help, and can be helpful at times. But honestly, trying to clean with kids is like brushing your teeth while eating Oreos. Also this: I'm the same way with gluten. and sugar. Mostly, I know that I need to reign things in if I think I'm going to lose weight. My reaction isn't near as bad as yours, so that's part of why I have trouble staying away. If I heard you shout "ALL ABOARD!" I'd be first in line with my ticket!
  9. Monday - 1Gluten, 0 Sugar, 1 Workout, 0 Cleaning
  10. Just got caught up on your body image posts, and I am loving it all. I looked at some photos from college recently (sorority reunion coming up!). I thought I was "fat" then. I was maybe 10lbs less than I am now. I realized that I look about the same, if not better now. My body shape has changed from having kids (and lifting weights!), but size-wise, I'm not far off from where I was 10 years ago. When I find myself wishing I looked more like someone else, I consider the "whole package"... Would I trade lives with someone to have their good looks? I had a dear friend that I thought was gorgeous, and I'd give anything to have her looks. I later found out that she had been sexually abused as a child, which lead to body image issues. I also have 2 co-workers that have lost a lot of weight lately. Turns out they both have cancer. It's made me think much harder before getting jealous of someone's body. SS, your story is great! Confidence is so key. And, I see your numbers and want to do pull ups so badly... maybe a next challenge goal?
  11. Here I am! http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/topic/34844-ifitplugsin-same-trailer-different-park/ Not much happening so far, so feel free to spice up my thread!
  12. Congrats!!! Loved the gifs The Nic Cage stuff made me snort/giggle. Challenge recap rocks too.
  13. Aw yeah! They sell it here...I will definitely look for Lawrence Elk next time I'm at the store. Thanks, PH! Yeah, I like to think he's a bro making fun of bro's... but I couldn't help but think if any of that stuff works, when taking progress pics. May have to experiment.
  14. Is pea protein ok? My mom has been using this http://www.amazon.com/Fat-Flush-Body-Protein-Dairy-free/dp/B002QXZVWQ for protein powder. GF, dairy-free, vegan. Tastes ok with fruit mixed in. To be honest, you workouts look pretty bad-ass to me! Never attempted some of the stuff you do... good mornings, GRH?, etc. I'm a squat, DL, bench, row, OHP girl... nothing fancy.
  15. Good for you on the dairy! Ice cream and cheese and butter would be so hard to give up! I don't drink straight milk much either, but I know it can be hidden in things so easily. I'm sure I've told you before, but my husband's had good luck with organic milk, so maybe organic sour cream or chocolate would help? Keep up the good work! Max - your search made ma lol!
  16. Week 1 Recap Goal 1: Diet Sweets Week 1 - 7/28 misses = 25% = C Cumulative - 7/28 = 25% = C Gluten Week 1 - 6/28 misses = 21% = C+ Cumulative - 6/28 = 21% = C+ Goal 2: Exercise Only 1 workout = 33% = F. This should be 1 of 2 busy weeks for me, so I think things will only go up from here. Goal 3: Clean Daily 15 minutes 1/5 - I made a conscious effort 1 day. Again, I think things will go up from here. Big Projects 1/3 - Yesterday, we moved our boys' bunk beds upstairs. They were constantly getting scared at night, and ended up in our bed or on the couch upstairs. All 3 boys are sleeping in one room. Leaving the toys in the "guest room" downstairs. Hopefully it works out for the best! While things didn't go perfectly, I don't feel like the week was a total failure. I was super stressed, and crazy busy with work. I consciously made some bad choices, but I also consciously made good ones. Room for improvement, but getting back into the challenge is what I needed to get me motivated to get back in gear. Thanks to the friends stopping by! Your comments help keep me going!!
  17. So, 4 days in, things aren't going so hot. Food has been craptastic. I'm pretty sure I've had 4 meals this week that pass my rules. 1 workout so far, and 1 cleaning (a load of laundry and extra dishes last night). I've been so tired lately that I just don't care about anything. I think it's the mental drain of work, plus 3 kids. Trying to work myself up to doing better. I packed a good breakfast and lunch, so I should be able to stay on track today. Deep breaths, and taking things one minute at a time.
  18. For whatever reason, I feel this is appropriate here.
  19. I did this too, only I didn't have a vacation as an excuse. I pretty much just fell off the wagon and got run over by it. Having a hard time getting back to it, but gotta make it happen. I'm kinda sad you're leaving SD. You're the only other SD nerd I know, and now I'll be all alone. Seriously, AK is gonna rock! Yay deadlift day!
  20. So happy you're sticking with the DSAL goal! I've got 15 minutes of cleaning as a goal too, and so far, not happening. Stealing "vag up" to get my ass in gear and do it. Hugs to ya, lady!
  21. 1. Spaceballs gifs... OMG! Love it! 2. Excellent challenge goals. 3. I just watched an episode of Iron Chef America, where the secret ingredient was plantains...It was amazing what those guys could do with plantains! 4. Hi, Laura!
  22. Those that have known me in the Warriors, have seen most of these goals before. I took the last 6-week challenge off because of work busy-ness. Seeing as that isn’t going to ease up anytime soon, and the fact that I didn’t like what happened to myself without the accountability of the challenge, I’m back! I’m joining the Rangers this time, because I just like my cardio too much. I know weights are key, but I’m not going to feel like a failure because danced my ass of for an hour at Zumba, instead of lifting. Main Goal: Control the Crazy! - When life gets a little exciting, I tend to let things slip. I need to keep a grip on my diet and exercise habits, and gain control in my home. Goal 1 - Diet: I’m not going all-out with restricting my diet, but it’s gotten a little out of control. I’ll continue to track my calories at myfitnesspal, but focus on these 2 goals: Naughty Sweets – Fruit is ok, healthified treats are ok in moderation (no white sugar allowed). Cookies, cake, ice cream, candy (including chocolate chips) are all off the table. Gluten Free – Stay as gluten free as possible. Avoid all grains as much as possible, but some corn and rice are allowed. For both diet goals (graded individually), each serving of a restricted food counts as a “miss.†Each meal (4 meals per day x 42 days = 168) is an “opportunity.†10% misses or better = A 20% = B 30% = C 40% = D More than 40% = F Goal 2: Exercise 3 Workouts – This seems to be a realistic number of workouts to aim for each week. Ideally, more strength than cardio, but I enjoy my Zumba and occasional runs, so they’re happening. Goal 3: Clean House – With the craziness at work, and just being tired in general, my house is a mess. I see plans on Pinterest all the time about keeping your house clean with just 15 minutes of work a day. That’s my goal: 15 minutes of cleaning per day, plus 3 big weekend jobs over the course of the challenge. I’m going to aim to work in loads of laundry during the week, instead of leaving it all for the weekend, and let my “big job†be something that doesn’t have to happen repeatedly – organizing a closet, clean up my scrapbooking desk, etc. 25+ days = A 20+ days = B 15+ days = C 10+ days = D Less than 10 days = F For each big job missed, drop a letter. The first week or two are going to be a little chaotic. ERP conversion and traveling for work, so I'll do my best to update and be a supportive member of the community, but might be sporadic at first.
  23. Was all pumped for the new challenge to start today, and then ... oh yeah, we take a week off between.
