1. Ran about 1.25 miles to the grocery today with an empty-ish backpack, loaded up food, and ran home. Will see what other kinds of things I can come up with.
2. Awesome job on the barefoot run! I have yet to be brave enough to try that. Definitely rest and ice that shoulder - I've tweaked my shoulder a couple times over the years and it never heals as fast as I think it will. Go easy on it!
3. Update, Day 9, 6.26.12 1. No running today. Biked a total of about 30 minutes to and from rehearsal though. 2. Light bodyweight workout today – pushups, squats, planks, etc. Was pretty sore from moving all day yesterday, so I didn’t push it too hard. 3. Ate pretty well. Still need to eat more earlier, and probably space things out a little better. 1. Spent no money! Woot! Today’s goals: Upper body/core workout of some sort, eat healthy, record theater sounds and finish sound design, theater planning meeting, call bank, prep job apps and alumni association contact form. Tomorrow: Run 2 miles, do 40 pushups and 100 bicycle crunches, work on job apps and alumni association contact form, work on theater lighting plans.
4. Better late than never indeed! Welcome to the party!
5. Update, Day 8, 6.25.12 1. Ran 1 mile in 6:37. I am ridiculously happy about this. Decided to try to beat a 7:00 for a Fitocracy quest, and lo and behold, it worked out. My legs will hurt tomorrow though… Also got in about an hour of biking, to and from a job site. 2. No bodyweight or lifting today. Helped a client move furniture and boxes for six hours, though, so in that sense I did a ton of lifting today. 3. Kept up the healthy eating pretty well. Client provided an amazingly healthy and delicious lunch – deviled eggs, chicken salad sandwich, and beef and black bean chili – but my eating was ridiculously backloaded today. As in, Dinner #1, Dinner #2, and Dessert. Oh well. Still ate reasonably healthy, and I’m sure I needed the food to rebuild the muscles I wrecked today. 1. Made money! Got paid! Spent no money! Woot! Today’s goals: Run a sub-7:00 minute mile and bike 20 minutes (hooray Fitocracy quests - this week will be full of them), continue healthy eating, help neighbor with a project ($ Day 2!), record theater sounds and finish sound design, call bank, floss, prep job apps and alumni association contact form. Tomorrow: Upper body/core workout of some sort, eat healthy, record theater sounds and finish sound design, theater planning meeting, call bank, prep job apps and alumni association contact form.
6. We should get organized - this could be a Friday or Saturday night mini challenge. The stories would be epic.
7. This Wookie Ranger prefers steak. And these.
8. Way to go finding the good in and amongst the crappy. You got a bunch of Action Plan stuff done, including stuff from the day before. Keep up the good work, tomorrow will be better!
9. Thanks! I know just what you mean with the gnats - went running once and went through a cloud of them. Got home, wiped off all the bugs that got stuck on my sweaty arms and legs, which was gross enough, but once I got to the bathroom for a shower, I found that one had somehow lodged itself in the inside corner of my eye. Didn't do any damage, but man oh man that was gross. Needless to say, I wear sunglasses every time I run now. And flossing is just one of those things that, without a reminder, I inevitably forget to do. Best of luck with your goals as well. They look excellent - simple and straightforward but challenging as well. Go get 'em!
10. Gotta leave a little love and laughter to come back to!
11. Wicked awesome goals - I'll definitely be following this thread from here on out. Nice progress, keep it up!
12. Nice goals - that one handed pushup one is especially badass. Welcome to the Rangers!
13. Update, Day 7, 6.24.12 1. No running today. 2. No bodyweight or lifting today. Did help a neighbor move furniture for a couple hours up and down stairs, though - worked up a decent sweat with that. 3. Kept up the healthy eating pretty well today - actually made a legitimate salad today, don't know how long it's been since I did that. 1. Made some money from the furniture moving. Spent a bit of money on a new bicycle tube – annoying but necessary. Today’s goals: Rest day, keep eating healthy, help a neighbor with a project ($!), clean room thoroughly. Tomorrow: Run a sub-7:00 minute mile and bike 20 minutes (hooray Fitocracy quests - this week will be full of them), continue healthy eating, help neighbor with a project ($ Day 2!), record theater sounds and finish sound design, call bank, floss, prep job apps and alumni association contact form.

DC Area?

Ah, crap. Didn't see this until too late. Hope you had fun, looking forward to more meet ups in the near future!
15. That Rochester Wegman's mention has made me extremely jealous and nostalgic. Ahhhh, Wegman's... you should be the only grocery store in the world.
16. Update, Day 6, 6.23.12 1. No running today. 2. 100 pushups and 5 minutes of planking/side planking, plus a bunch of other bodyweight exercises that got me a bunch of Quest points on Fitocracy. Feel like a dork. Guess I’m in the right place. Didn’t stretch as much as I should have at the end of the workout, though – hopefully I’m not too sore tomorrow. 3. Kept up the healthy eating pretty well today. Had another small piece of cake that my roommate made, but otherwise did well. That omelet this morning really hit the spot. 1. No expenditures. Today’s goals: Circuit/lifting workout, grocery shop, keep the healthy eating going, clean my room, actually finish the sound design, work on a commissioned woodworking project, stop procrastinating on job apps, patch bike tire, pack for upcoming 4th of July weekend trip. Tomorrow: Rest day, keep eating healthy, help a neighbor with a project ($!), clean room thoroughly.
17. I've got one of these from Amazon and it's definitely helped. The whole bed shakes and it's pretty much impossible to stay asleep. For me, the best way to make sure I STAY up is to walk to the bathroom, turn on the lights, and brush my teeth. Standing there in the bright light for a couple minutes always helps clear the cobwebs out. Then I go back, make my bed so getting back in isn't an option (at least in my head) and start the day. Best of luck!
18. Loren, I'm guessing Starting Weight and Goal Weight, from the looks of it. Good goals - I especially like your plan for an archaeological dig. Best of luck!
19. I'm definitely going to be following this thread. You've got some worthy goals, and more importantly, a small drill seargent in your head to kick you around a bit when you need that extra push. Plus you've got the NF community. Keep after it, you're on a roll now!
20. I'd try a banana, or microwave a sweet potato for 5 minutes. I do know the feeling - I usually just sip water for a while until the idea of food isn't completely revolting.
21. I'm going to go ahead and call this morning a success. Woke up, did some pull ups, biked to the grocery store, biked home (and got a flat on the way, grrrr...), then did 100 push-ups over 7 sets, and some other bodyweight exercises. And then I made this: 3 egg omelet with sauteed onion, chicken breast, a little cheddar cheese, some homemade pineapple salsa, and half an avacado, with grapes and a bunch of water on the side. Life is good.
22. Update, Day 5, 6.22.12 1. Ran just over 2 miles today in 17:19. Pretty pleased with the time, more pleased that nothing hurt during or after the run. I’m doing a much better job than usual of stretching properly and I think that’s helping – hoping to keep it up! 2. 15 pushups at the end of the run. 3. Kept up the healthy eating pretty well today. Had a tiny piece of gingerbread that my roommate made, but otherwise, staying pretty well on track. Still need to work on eating earlier so I’m not as hungry late at night. Also am going to need to mix up the meat a bit - chicken and tuna are getting sorta boring. 1. No expenditures. Today’s goals: Run, work on learning theater light board operation, lighting design, finish sound work completely, complete four job apps. Tomorrow: Circuit/lifting workout, grocery shop, keep the healthy eating going, clean my room, actually finish the sound design, work on a commissioned woodworking project, stop procrastinating on job apps.
23. Anybody have days like this? Image credit to the unceasingly funny TextFromDog website.
24. We might need to change that to "we absolutely positively will make fun of you." While simultaneously being very impressed by your goals and everything you're doing to meet them. Best of luck!
25. Nice progress thus far! The pull ups are always tough - don't hesitate to switch to assisted pull ups once you max out on unassisted ones. It's one of those exercises (like push ups) for which the best way to do more... is to do more. Keep up the good work!
