  1. Yeah, I thought that one might be enough. "Too much" isn't bad for you. It occurs naturally in foods, but my original point was the caloric defecits some people go on. It's a necessary acid to produce bile. I was talking about farts. Why not talk about farts?
  2. http://www.japha.org/article.aspx?doi=10.1331/JAPhA.2008.07055 http://www.springerlink.com/content/m4467644l7738uw7/ http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/4563760.stm
  3. I was honestly rambling about the potassium/taurine bit. I'm a rambler.Too little potassium over an amount of time does cause hypokalemia, though, which is characterized by weakened muscles and myalgia (I love the word myalgia, it's so fancy for something that just means unexplained muscle pain..) But this can only really happen if you've starved yourself, have diabetes, or use an ECA stack. Which you shouldn't, because it's bad for you. Silly. As for taurine, a red bull a day keeps cirrhosis away. It's a part of digesting things. And it's been used to reduce blood pressure successfully. I guess what I'm really getting at with the water : protein is a well known issue found in the gym. Protein farts. I drink so much water a day and it keeps that gross high protein diet side effect completely away. Personally. If you're having digestive issues and a high protein diet, consider drinking more water. But I don't know. I haven't done/researched paleo long enough to see how much I'd get without a shake or two a day.
  4. I know what I'm doing right now isn't exactly Paleo, but it works for me. I usually get about 175g of protein a day and I drink at least two gallons of water. I've read on fitness sites that 1 gallon of water per 100g of protein is ideal for absorbtion, but I want to know what you all think about this. I'm on the run right now, and I have a soft spot in my heart for RTD protein shakes. There's a lactose free one called "Oh yeah!" made by Integrated Sports Science that I'm particularly fond of. It's a 220cal 32g protein drink with 3g sugar, 350mg potasssium and 4g carbs. It's pretty much the "best" one I can find for my needs, other that the ABB PurePro 50. The human body generally needs 4700mg potassium and 3000mg taurine daily, which I only want to point out because a lot of people do calorie defecit diets when they start out. But potassium and taurine are the two nutrients that keep your mitochondria producing energy on a cellular level, and if you aren't getting enough, then you feel sluggish. People who calorie defecit diet for too long can cause long term damage without these vitamins, especially if you're a fan of those thermogenics. Bllaaaahhhhh.... Anyway, this is about water. I personally feel that 2gal is right for me as a 158lb girl. What are your thoughts?
  5. Weigh yourself in your "morning". Oh, and the bathroom scale is effed by more than five pounds. Get a digital one, or I'll give you the one I got for this travel interim when I get home.
  6. Oh, please. Forums are a 90's thing. Stats Today Height 66in Weight 158lbs Neck 14 in Waist 30 in Hips/butt 41 in I'm a little concerned with how I generally stay the same measurements around the waist as I lose weight. It wouldn't even be an issue if we didn't have height/weight standards. Archaic height/weight standards, but they're a rule nonetheless. I think if I keep up this workout routine though, I'll see results before I know it. Yesterday I swam a mile, not nonstop. The place I'm staying has no freeweights, just stupid machines, so I did the advanced bodyweight circuit 3x sans real pullups. I also changed a tire and taught everyone I know how to do it. Because things with air in them will eventually pop. And I changed the oil in my friend's car. Sweaty/greasy. Also, I'm on vacation.
  7. Yeah, bari wasn't as bad as the contra though. Those are the marching tubas you hold out straight and set on your shoulder to play. Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I may need a kick in the butt sometime down the road.
  8. How is it that your SRT stuff is immediately cooler than "hey I'm a Marine"? Scouts FTW. Challenge accepted. Get mom on here.
  9. That's really great progress man, way to go. Keep it up!
  10. I started my challenge thread and plan to update it everyday. It's in my signature if you would like to see it, but if you don't like pushing buttons then I'll give you a lowdown. I'm Kayleigh and I'm built like a small bear. I ran cross country in high school, PR'd at 20:21 for a 5k at 155lbs and did marching band at the same time where I carried either of the two heaviest instruments for hours on end (bari sax and contra). That was a few years ago and now I do military type things and shoot guns. When I'm not playing tinker tailor soldier spy, I'm at the gym. I love kettlebell workouts, I love deadlifting, I like to pick up real heavy stuff and put it back down. I also enjoy carrying and squatting other people. I just need to get better at it. Being honest with myself, I'm in pretty good shape as is. This is an opportunity to push myself over the edge and get in killer shape. Half my PT scores are perfect, and the other half could use a little work. I need to get faster and stronger, build lats, and start doing pullups. I have pretty poor back strength compared to the rest of me. All my power comes from monster thighs. My goal in this challenge is to do all this things, lose weight, and look awesome. If anyone has suggestions, or wants help (because I know a thing or two as well...), I'm mostly ears and a little mouth. Hit me, Nerds. Pumped to join the Rebellion. STATS as of yesterday Height 66 in Weight 159lbs Neck 14in Waist 30in Hips 40in
  11. I'm pretty sure everyonje has these problems from time to time. I know, personally, that I'm never really satisfied with whatever I'm doing. But I generally don't like people in numbers in any capacity. I have two friends and they are more than I could ever ask for. I think people get dissatified with social situations because of the sensory overload that comes with having lots of people around at one time. I'm into language. So, in Russian, their word for friend is taken in a completely different way than English speakers. A friend is closer to your blood than real relatives, and you would die for each other if need be. I know a lot of people who get upset about their social life when they realize they've drifted away from those crazy tight connections, but suddenly discovered everyone around them is a "bar friend" or a "friend of circumstance". It's a little depressing, but maybe you should strengthen your ties with the people who matter and are really out for your welfare instead of the circumstantial people who float in and out of your life. As far as the creative part, it's totally natural to want to walk away and maybe even set your work on fire. I'm a writer and experiencing blocks like that are frustrating but for growth, maybe you could try little projects. Like little pinterest challenges, easy stuff that still stimulates your brain and helps you learn things, but isn't so mind consuming that you want to rip your hair out when you reach a block. I hope that helps.
  12. Dad. You're supposed to make your own thread.
  13. I'll update fully later with the attribute points, just making sure I get signed up now. I'm an over achiever, but I'm also in the Marine Corps and I have a lot of areas I can improve upon. Scratch that. NEED and really should improve upon. Current Stats Female 159lbs Height: 66in Neck: 14in Waist: 30in Butt: 41in (at widest) There's already a lot I can do and have done, but the scout profile will benefit me and my life in general for the next few years. Sans Pull ups, I can do the Advanced Bodyweight routine, I've ran a half marathon, my fastest 5k was 20:21, my current 3 mile is 22:15. I eat pretty healthy, but I want to go full Paleo and I drink 2 - 2.5 gallons of water daily. Hydrate or die. I did the Tough Mudder in Tahoe last year. I can't think of other achievements one would characteristically put on here, so I'll go ahead with the goals Fitness goals Full Paleo Continue drinking that much water Lose 15lbs or lose a significant amount of inches on waist/hips. Back to sub 7 miles Break 21 minutes on my next three mile Catch the elusive and magical female unassisted pullup Develop lats Swim a mile without stopping Life goals Improve foreign language skills Read a book that isn't crap Quit smoking So I know a lot of those goals are strength and agility related, but since I'm normally a distance girl, I definitely fit into scout. I need to improve my mile time. My twelve year old sister runs 6:30 miles. So, I improve my mile time or I break her legs. I will assign points a little later. Tonight.
