  1. Work commitments are starting to get in the way of goals. At least I can honestly say I literally don't have time rather than using that as a way of saying "I can't be bothered" and my calendar has 3-5 goal-related activities per day, so if I miss the odd one on my current schedule it's probably not the end of the world. I am meant to have my first portuguese lesson of the year today but I haven't a cat in hell's chance of getting back from Chatham to Chiswick in time for 6PM so I've arranged to do uma aula dupla na terça-feira da próxima semana* instead and I'll do some work on the train to make up for it. Th' short fast run might be tricky tomorrow too but I am pretty sure I can squeeze it in if I'm up at the crack of dawn! All in all, I am managing to keep myself on the straight and narrow so far. *="a double lesson on Tuesday of next week"
  2. All good stuff as ever. Pardon my ignunce but what does mean?
  3. *Considers Fist-bump* *Remembers is British* *Smiles warmly instead*

    Game on, McC!

Er... How literally should we take that? You've got me a bit worried now! (subject to reservations above) Go!
  5. Endurance, knowledge, vegetables. There's no doubt about it - you're a scout! The raw veg thing is interesting. I wonder what would help there - maybe finding the right combinations or ways of presenting the food (say with a light but tasty dressing?) I find chopping them finely helps since it makes the business of getting them from plate to fork to mouth a lot less fiddly. The running plan sounds like a good way to go, and so does the 30 min a day of refreshing your wisdom. Yes - I think was originally coined (in latin) by Francis Bacon who was of the English persuasion and also had a surname which is paleo-friendly. I often think it's a shame he never got to meet the American civil rights activist Malcolm Eggs, because I have a feeling they would have got on well together.
  6. Yay for variety! Thanks for not minding my cheekiness and as I said, feel free to counterchallenge me - I deserve it!
  7. Mm, it's like a million degrees everywhere at the moment with danger of bush fires. If I was in his shoes (not that he owns shoes, but you know what I mean...) I'd be indoors all day with my feet in the fridge and a large icy drink in my hand.

    Game on, McC!

Great goals, and yeah, you can do that run!
  9. Yeesh! Someone has just tweeted me a weather map of Australia... and suddenly your 8km run seems a hundred times more badass than it did before!
  10. Mm, I think he suggests this progression: Bent over rows (use a toolbox, dumbell, brick or overwight puppy, as circumstances allow) Bodyweight rows (use a bike stand) Negative pull-ups (use a high up thing) Pull ups (use the same high up thing) The trouble with bodyweight rows on a bike stand is that you looks absolutely ridiculous and a bit mad doing them, but luckily I don't care and you seem like the sort of chap who wouldn't much care either. It does use all the right muscles though, and it's good practice for the real thing... any day now... any day now...
  11. I know this is a challenge thread not a phone-in request show, but... well, maybe it's my faulty memory but I seem to remember your last reading challenge involved a lot of fantasy fictiony type stuff, which is cool (speaking as someone who's reading Mockingjay now...) but if that's the case can I *throws down gauntlet* challenge you to add in a little non-fiction this time around? Your +4 WIS points will be made shinier and you will be entitled to write them in gold in your sig file if you so choose. Sorry if the whole "you only read fiction" thing is just my imagination... and feel free to do a counterchallenge if I am being unreasonably cheeky by barging in here and trying to seize control of your reading list!
  12. Well, that booze one seems like the key one there. It sounds like it would help with so many of the other goals. I'm not one to talk though, so please don't take this as preachiness. I too am a drinker of the milk of the merlot cow. Good luck with the challenge, Kiwi!
  13. Oh hello - I wondered where you'd got to! Nice - it sounds like a good plan for a new PR
  14. It's true it's hard to get started but if you look in the right places you can usually find someone. There are quite a few sites where people will meet up and talk to each other online. My big problem is the only people who want to speak to me are brazilians, and I don't really need the distraction of having different words and accents, which is a shame because I'm sure they'd be interesting to speak to otherwise! 19. Do I lose points for not really understanding how accountabilibuddies works? I thought it was pairs or something but it looks more like teams now. Sincerely yours, Confused of Kew
