  1. These are the best I've ever tried. Eastbay Vapor I also have a few pairs of the Deluth Buck Naked boxer briefs that I like, but the Eastbay's are a fair bit better to me.
  2. I'm in the western piedmont area, pretty much half-way between Winston and Statesville. I'll be in the RTP area for work in early January.

  5. Tues. 6-13-17 Was pouring down rain this evening, along with thunder and lightning, so no run. Went to the gym and did 20:00 on the elliptical and some mobility work.

Had planned to go to the gym before work this morning, but I didn't wake up until after 5.
  7. I used a cheap set of stands for a while and they worked fine. Granted, at the time my work sets were generally at, or below, 300. If I were squatting 4-500 they would likely be a bit wobbly. I can't remember exactly, but I don't think they went low enough to bench out of them, so if that's something you're looking for you might want to research them closely. Before I got the stands I actually just used those saw horses and did all my squats starting from the bottom.
  8. Keep scouring craigslist, one will pop up there eventually. Additionally, you can get a set of squat stands much cheaper than a full rack. If you want safety pins (which is always a good idea) use a set of heavy-duty saw horses.

  11. Mon. 6-5-17 Puppy woke me up at about 5:15 am, so I figured since I was up I might as well do something productive. Went for a walk, but it started raining a little over 1/4 mile in. Came back to the house, grabbed an umbrella, and walked around the cul-de-sac enough to get 20:00 in. The clouds cleared enough by lunch that I decided to go out and walk again. I opted to go for a ruck since I was supposed to have a game this evening and wouldn't be able to get a run in. Made it a little over a mile and the humidity was killing me. I was dripping with sweat, and really didn't want to go back in the office soaking wet, so I dropped the pack and walked just a little more to try and cool down. Game ended up getting cancelled, but since it was raining again and I had plenty to do around the house I didn't try to go for a run.

  13. ^^^ Yep, that. Unless you're at the very top competitively of either there is no reason to worry about it. I go through phases where I will focus more on strength and maintain conditioning, and then go through a phase that's opposite. They both stay in the mix at all times, though.
  14. Sat. 6-3-17 Played around on the slackline for a while and did some movement drills and stretching.

  16. Thurs. 6-1-17 3 mile fartlek, averaged about 10 minutes per mile. Trying to improve my pace.
  17. The recipe I use most often is: Dry rub 1 tbs salt 1 tbs black pepper 1 tbs paprika 1 tbs brown sugar 1 tsp chilli powder 1/4 tsp red pepper Coat shoulder in yellow mustard, then apply dry rub and let sit overnight. Next morning put in on the smoker at around 250 for 8-10 hours, until internal temperature reaches 200. Once I hit that mark I pull it off, wrap in aluminum foil and sit in a cooler or the oven for an hour or so to let the meat rest before I start pulling. After pulling I put a little sauce on and mix it in well. Sauce: 1 cup cider vinegar 1 cup ketchup 1 tbs paprika 1 tbs chilli powder 1 tbs salt 1 tbs black pepper 1 tsp red pepper and a pinch of cinnamon Bring to a boil and wisk all the ingredients together well, then let it simmer if you want a thicker sauce.

  22. Some low intensity stuff, especially on the bike, should be fine. I'd stay clear of the high intensity stuff on that day, though.
  23. Thurs. 5-25-17 2.5 mile run Pace was pretty 'meh', but good enough for now
  24. No, I'm afraid not. I gave up the sport in 2009. Like you said, life is all about compromise, and I just couldn't continue to justify the time I had to dedicate to training for this, or the costs associated with the shows, to win plastic trophies. I miss it, but I would have missed a lot more with my family if I had stuck with it.
  25. I've had a pretty bad case of anterior pelvic tilt for a while now, and never took the time to try and permanently fix it. I let it get so out of hand that it started causing real issues, pain in my hips and shoulders. In seeking ways to finally correct the issue I ran across the Bow Tie by Donnie Thompson. Bow Tie Its pretty much a postural correction brace, made from the heavy duty elastic you find in knee wraps. I've been wearing it here and there for about a week now, and I can already see some serious improvement. My shoulders have drifted back, close to proper alignment, and the pain I had when benching, pressing, or throwing a ball is all but gone. The price is a little steep for what it is, but I tried a few different ways to rig something up and never could get the feeling I get with this tool. For anyone dealing with shoulder issues I highly recommend this product.
