  1. So the up side of teaching night classes is that I have more time in the morning for exercise. Today I got a full weight session in - bench, squats, deadlifts. I also took a walk on the treadmill for 20 min. I feel really good today. You know, other than being tired.
  2. So, here's something fun. I'll be teaching night classes for the next 6 weeks.

  5. Today I did some bench pressing. The soreness is real.
  6. Today I took a walk around the neighborhood. It was gray and spitting rain, but it was a good walk anyway. My boy went with me, which is also not bad.
  7. Today I lifted weights, bench press and squats, for the first time in forever. It felt really good. I also took a walk around the neighborhood.
  8. For those of you who didn't know, which is basically no one at this point, I have bipolar disorder. Feel free to ask questions. I am sliding into a depression cycle. I can tell when this is coming on because I lose interest in pretty much everything. There are other symptoms, but that's the first big clue. I have decided that this time I am actively fighting back by doing things that help my mood to stabilize, like getting exercise and writing and playing my ukulele. You know, good self care stuff. I will do my best to record my efforts here.
  9. Work has exploded on me. Lunch walks are out. Dumbells at work are out. Oh, hey, what's that there? Let's see..... oh, it's just Square One. Yeah, we've been here before.
  10. Cats are always a mistake. Mine woke me up at 5, screaming in my face for no apparent reason.
  11. Very good goals. We have the same experience here of going straight from summer to winter and back, although we do get random pockets of spring and autumn, but only a couple of days at a time. Happy Challenge!
  12. I walked 1 mile today. It's a bit warm out. Midwest be like that. I have walked 6 out of the last 7 days. I'm pretty happy with that.
  13. I walked 1.5 miles today. The weather is lovely.
  14. Foxes, raccoons, possums, weasels and all of their cousins (the Pine Marten is my favorite), coyotes, all manner of snakes and lizards, a shocking variety of spiders and other insects, and the birds of prey that you mentioned, are all woodland predators. Possums are always very hungry. "Hungry like the Possum" wouldn't have sold as many records, I think. But I'd have bought one. Keep up the good work!
  15. I just had a well-duh moment. I was talking with some nerds on the NF discord, and as usual I was complaining about not being able to lift because I can't get home fast enough at lunch, and mornings and evenings are right out. And all of I sudden I was like, wait.... I could just leave some dumbbells in my office, and get a quick light lift during lunch time. I don't sweat much and no one would care. Then, to put the icing on the duh, I actually already have a 10-lb DB in my office. So I just knocked out 3 sets of curl-presses and 3 sets of chair squats. It felt really good. I may be on to something here.
  16. I walked at lunch today. I got some good advice from two co-workers today. It was nice to have sincere, positive conversations with people who all have the same goals and are doing their best to help each other. It reminded me of NF and made me happy.
