  1. Following! I like your challenge title... so true. I'm interested in your Japanese progress, especially since I totally get that its the language of your soul. I feel the same way and I'm in the same boat where I don't have any one to practice with so I get discouraged and lose interest. You're inspiring me to pick it up again. I used Remember the Kanji and an SRS, but WaniKani looks really cool. I'll have to check it out! Douzo yoroshiku
  2. something partner related, I'm guessing? Oooh or piano or dancing or scythe twirling or maybe getting a cat?
  3. Wow, that looks busy! Aviation medicine and finishing your pilot license sounds so cool! Following
  4. Yesterday - did the pushups, ate all the food and really pushed into that allowance. Medium day is 135p/217c/54f and I did 143/223/55. Did our walk, boys had to bribed with cookies but it got done. Didn't read, passed out early. Highlight - noticed some definition in my quads while doing bicep curls, of all things. I'm clearly doing them wrong. Today - rest day. Low day is 135p/134c/71f and I'm on track to hit 137/135/72. Reading and walking will happen tonight...probably
  5. Hahaha, thanks i needed that! That place sounds amazing! My trainer highly recommended this guy I'm going to and so i thought he would be in the cool club. I told him what i do in the gym weeks ago and he was fine with it, but apparently there is such a thing as an unweighted deadlift? Thanks for the advice! Sorry you had some awkwardness with your technician.
  6. Rest day, no pushups. Low back is sore from yesterday. I kinda mentioned it to my chiropractor and he just thought i had no reason to be deadlifting 160 and he wouldn't even deadlift that much and blah blah blah. Talk about killing my joy, i left dazed and feeling down on myself. That voice in my head that tells me I'm weak and frail and have no idea what I'm doing really pounced on that comment. It took about 2 hours to shake it off, but I'm better and refocused now. Medium day macros were 135p/217c/54f and I did 135/212/56. I can't believe the walking has been so easy! Granted we haven't hit our first 100 degree day yet, but I'm pretty confident about continuing this all summer. Making good progress in my bible reading. Having all that in my system definitely helped me through my anxiety this afternoon.
  7. Did my pushups. Finally finally FINALLY got that body weight deadlift! 160 x3! Today was my high day so my macros were 135p/54f/229c and i got 135/54/228 so pretty perfect. I kinda crashed at 3pm and realized that i had 42 packets of Splenda accounted for when i only had 2 (at some point i was trying to change it from 4 to 2 thus 42) so i got a decent carb hit before dinner. Walking, check. Bible study, check. Phew.
  8. Yikes, it's been awhile! Here's a recap of my week: Pushups 3/3. Keto 3/7, ETP 3/7 nutrition goal updated. See below. Walking 5/5. Bible study 6/7. Completed keto experiment earlier than expected. Moving directly into experiment #002 - eating all the things to increase awesomeness. Joined Eat To Perform to get some freakin nutrition coaching. It's only been a few days, but i like it so far. Happiness and energy returned!! My nutrition goal will be to hit my macros within 10 for carbs and protein and 5 for fat.
  9. Thanks for the fix! yeah it doesn't make much sense, does it? None of those aesthetics matter when you're able to use your body well doing the things you love. I agree!
  10. You could move a box into the squat rack thats right at your proper depth and do box squats for your warm up set to feel the right depth when you're on your own? I don't know, that's what I'd do. I saw a video on starting strength where Rippetoe talked about box squats if you're knees are bad, but he advised against novices doing it so they can learn to feel the bounce at the proper depth. Way to go on all your progression! And for not giving up when you realized you left your book.
  11. Majoring in strong, I like that! If you didnt know your body fat %, do you think you'd be happier? Before I knew my numbers I'd be super pleased that I'm 155, but now I know I have 30% body fat so that keeps me from eating at a surplus. Yay! Kill all the calories! Thats a good idea to just reframe my goals. Failing is also painful to me, and I honestly dont really feel like I failed. It was all just an experiment anyway. But I thought if I was a bit dramatic I could trick myself into maybe accepting that not completing a goal isnt the end of the world. Gah! Thank you guys for all the encouragement! I have a bad habit of feeling like trash because I cant commit to gainz or fat loss. Thanks for sharing your struggles!
  12. I'm soooo about to quit this keto business. I just kinda keep hanging on though, thinking I just need to tough it out a bit longer. I wasnt counting calories and then I found what keto.me thought I should be eating 1400 on rest days 1900 on training days. Had 2 1400 calorie days back to back. aaaaand I'm sure you could guess that Monday gym day was brutal. I'm just in this weird state of indecision that Im sure everyone goes through. Fat loss or performance. After doing this experiment, I'd say the number on the bar is more important to me than the one on the scale. I think. I think I mean that. I'm going to add 25g of carbs before my workout tomorrow and see how that feel and then friday I might do 50g before and cut the cream from my coffee. So im probably going to fail my diet goal. Oh well. Maybe i'm on the road to being less of a perfectionist. Ha! Walking, push ups and Bible reading are great, tho. Gave the boys a break today since one forgot to wipe their butt and he seemed in enough pain that I shouldnt push the walk, butt otherwise they've stopped complaining and might actually enjoy the "adventures." Poop jokes over here, too! I started reading the book of Judges with the intention of making it through David's life so I've got a good reading game plan for the next few weeks. When I did my push ups yesterday I was only aiming for 8, but I went on to do 10 each set! Very happy with that progress.
  13. I like all the music you're sharing (<3 Me first)! Yay for no zombie brain!
  14. I cant do bulletproof coffee, coconut is one of my sensitivities. When I saw you called it Rambo instead of bulletproof I was hoping it was a different recipe. I do put heavy creame in my coffee
  15. Here's my weekly wrap up: Pushups 4/4 Diet 7/7 Walking 5/5 Bible 6/7 Not so bad! I'm dropping down to push ups 3x a week, tho, just keeping it on my workout days. Yesterday we walked the whole neighborhood and today we walked 45 minutes. I was so proud of their scrawny little legs, haha. Ate a lot of beef last week, so ill probably go back to chicken most of the week. I just feel better with chicken, but I'm already having trouble getting even 60% of my calorie from fat. Eating brats and steak was really helping my macros! Butter the chicken, i guess. Bible study is good, but i still wait until the last minute. I'd like to do better about that this week.
  16. Do you like chicken breast? I used to not like chicken or salad and then i put them together and i magically like both now. Anyway, i can easily hit 125g of protein on days I've got chicken to eat up. What is rambo coffee?
  17. Welcome! Sorry for your loss. Do you have specific goals for communicating with family/friends? Like a list of who you absolutely want to reach out to? My cousin committed suicide 2 years ago April and i was surprised at how many of my other family members admitted depression and suicidal thoughts that they've been quietly dealing with. I live in a different state and no one really keeps in touch. Your life goal is a good goal, i dig it the most.
  18. Rest Day. Diet is good, weight is stable and I think I'm in the zone so now I'm going to track and see how all my numbers are falling. Walked for 15 minutes yesterday with only a slight complaint at 9 minutes. About to head out again before dinner. Skipped bible study yesterday, but made it today! Gifs are hard for me~! Too much overthinking!
  19. I have an app that is a year long reading plan that has three passages and it started in the beginning, middle and then new testament. I'm trying to keep up with that now. Proverbs is always a great place to start since there's 31 days in a month and you can just read that "day's" chapter. When I first started doing bible study I did Ephesians and spent 3 months in that book, so I'm partial to that one most. I also recommend 2 Corinthians. Ive dealt with a lot of chronic pain, illness and physical weakness and this book helps me with attitude adjustments and insights: 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. If you have verses that you like, read the whole chapter for context then maybe the whole book. I've had a lot of guidance and accountability in bible study classes, that probably helped me the most. Depending on you level of interest and your area, I'd recommend finding a Precept upon Precept class at a local church. I liked the classroom setting and having homework. Like crazy hardcore homework, but worth it as it was all very interesting. But I'm in the south and I have 10 churches near me and they're probably doing a book I'm interested in studying. Hope that helps? Also, I got to spend some time reading that passage in 2 Corinthians, so I can check off bible study for today, thanks!
  20. Nice! Also, congrats on advancing to the blue band!
  21. Did you do anything to make it better other than time? I feel like squatting properly is helping strengthen the posterior chain. Yeah, if i'm not careful i'll do that same rotation, too. Doing box squats helps know Im coming down and going up evenly.
