  1. I'm really terrible at writing on this thread, it's week 4 of the challenge and i've written sweet FA...but i promise i will write something useful during the week! All i wanted to say now is that this has been the most welcoming and supportive group that i've ever come across!!! seriously, every one of you guys are awesome, simply for being there for others and working hard at your goals! You're all truly inspirational! Even if i don't achieve all my goals, it's only half way and i've already got a start on most of them!! I didn't do last weeks challenge because i actually made it to Prague!! Whoop whoop!!! granted i did get on the wrong train and end up in the middle of Hungary's most remote countryside ....but i got there in the end and had a fabulous time!! Also i've been passing my exams...which is so uplifting! it gives you that boost of confidence when you feel like you've a hundred more to go!!! My fitness and diet haven't been going as well as i'd hoped but the fact that i'm actually getting a swim in twice a week and walking the dog for an hour a day is a major improvement! I'm not sure just yet on how much physical improvement there is but i'm feeling happier about myself, which i feel is just as important as dropping that dress size ( although that would be f*cking awesome too!!) My diet has been atrocious..i'll admit...i haven't quite drawn myself away from the fizzy drinks (even though they are diet) but i have cut down a considerable amount!!! also this week i need to cook more and eat more stone-age kinds of produce!! My days in Prague consisted of a lot of drinking and hangover foods so that wasn't great on my part!!! Anyways i'm looking forward to the weeks to come and to leveling up my life!!! The little improvements add up and by the end of this i'm hoping to have put a dent in my fitness malfunctions! Good luck fellow scouts!! you're already rocking it!! xXx
  2. Swim was 00:06:39...nearly died...forgot how much i hated distance!! =] Well done on all the great times guys!!! =]
  3. Did my 100m swim...got 1.19...which is nowhere near my PB! =( ah well...next time!
  4. You should set yourself out a program for an hours swim especially if you're not sure where you're at or if you haven't done much before! I find just doing laps repetitively for an hour is probably the most boring thing in the world! All you have is your mind and the scenery of the pool for company. But if you want to push yourself you should have a program with a warm up, timed sets, and a cool down! You'll find you'll be able to concentrate more on the particular set your doing and push yourself while building your fitness and also getting in the number of lengths! I just find that you can see your improvement more if you have a set time (eg. 10x100m on 1.30) because you'll start to notice you wont need as much rest after each 100m and you can decrease your time and push your fitness harder!! it works for long distance too and it'll get your endurance up! It's also good, as various other people have said, to try different strokes! You'll be working different muscles and it'll keep it interesting! Joining a local masters group is also a great idea! Good luck with it!! I'm sure you'll do great!! =]
  5. Thanks so much!! =] Fingers crossed i'll get there! And thanks for the support!! Good luck with your own goals!! I'm sure you'll kick a$$ =]
  6. I'm sure you're getting there!! I saw your times for the 1mile challenge honestly they were really good and a great start for swimming =] keep it up you're only going to kick more a$$ in it!! Good luck with the challenge!
  7. Hey! Thanks so much for the support =] I really enjoy walking the dog and i'm so lucky to have an amazing park on my doorstep!! Having to walk the dog at least twice a day always motivates me to get going and i've been taking him for longer walks these days! As much as it's benefiting me...the dog is loving it!! =D
  8. Wow good going!! Seriously that's impressive!!! Thanks for your support and i hope i can manage it!! I've a terrible sweet tooth...and as for the boozy goodness...let's not push it That's a milestone i'm definitely not ready for yet =] but i'm cutting back a lot!!
  9. I'm game for the swimming!! Won't be getting to a pool until Saturday though!!
  10. First attempt at a challenge!! Looking forward to the next six weeks and now that i've signed up...there's no going back now!! =]
  11. Let's just say my life has dramatically decreased it's levels. To put it simply...i'm a water baby who somehow (through her own fault) became stranded on land with a massive weight gain, a terrible diet and a new found talent at procrastinating! I was a competitive swimmer, training 5 times a week with competitions at the weekends. I used to do open water swimming and surf rescue during the summer! I had a healthy diet but also was able to indulge (with moderation) in all the calorific foods that i love!! I was healthy and fit and it was my life! What kills me the most is my use of the "past tense"...i was...i used to...i had... This is not what i should be saying! I know i mightn't ever get back to where i was, and honestly i won't miss the 5am training but i want to find the old fit and healthy me...the girl that I've done such a good job smothering with pizza and sweet drinks! The freshman 15 had nothing on what i'd done to myself (56lbs since the start of college =/ *gulp* ) I'm not after a simple weight loss fix..i'm here to find my new lifestyle! I've made a start-since the summer of 2011 I've lost 21lbs however it's just not enough and no where near my long term goal. So m'dears...it's time for me to nut up, shut up and level the fuck up. NAME: Roz RACE: Selkie (Creature of Irish folklore, said to live at sea as a seal but shed their skin to become human on land while ever longing to return to the water.) CLASS: Scout ATTRIBUTES (i'm applying this to swimming...because i'm a useless runner!!) Strength:3 Dexterity:2 Stamina:3 Constitution:3 Wisdom:2 Charisma:2 **OVERALL TOP 4 GOALS** (1) Transition more into the Paleo way of eating. (2) Lose at least another 14lbs. (3) Get my sprint times at least 5 seconds away from my PBs (4) Save up to travel to Prague And a few others that i'm hoping to apply to my life even if it doesn't all happen in the next 6 weeks!! DIET GOALS (1) Quit the fizzy drinks!!! (2) Transition more into the Paelo way of eating. (3) Get my a$$ in gear and cook more and be more adventurous with my recipes! FITNESS GOALS (1) Walk for an hour a day with the doggy! (2) Swim at least once a week. (3) Get my sprint times at least 5 seconds away from my PBs. (4) Lose at least another 14lbs. STATE OF MIND GOALS (1) Stop holding myself back. (2) Pass my bloody exams. (3) Save up to travel to Prague. I know my goals aren't as hardcore as other but it's a start!!I'm really looking forward to doing this challenge and i'm hopefully not too late to sign up!! Starting from right now i'm taking my life up a notch and i'm going to work my a$$ off (literally) to get this done!!! Fingers crossed!! x "That's my secret Captain...I'm always angry"- Bruce Banner aka. The Hulk
  12. Hey Guys!!! So happy to see some swimmers on here! I'm a newbie at this and i'm going to sign up for my first six week challenge today. Was slightly worried when i saw the amount of running peeps but whoop whoop I've found the water babies!!! =D Cannot wait to get back to swimming, while i know i probably won't make it back to my competitive level i'm going to damn well try!!! Used to do a lot of competitive pool swimming, open water swimming and surf rescue...But at this stage I've been trapped on land for far too long!! Hope i still remember how to float! =]
