  1. I got home today. Worked out. The work out nearly kicked my ass. I'm already sore and I was basically praying for strength through my last rep (which is a big deal since I'm not super religious anymore). I watched Netflix until 9 o clock. Then I read for about an hour in my new book Dataclysm. I'm gonna try and be a good kid and go to sleep now so I can maybe get my day without an energy drink out of the way tomorrow. Good night all! Tomorrow is another day, and I'm thinking getting swimming in on my off day before the pool closes.
  2. So...I found the absolute best way for me to do this, if it works for you, is to write down with pen and paper at the beginning of the day all of the things I need to get done. I then go through and mark the top 3 and do them first. Also, I keep my lists in a notebook, and if something has been on my list for more than 3 days and IS NOT a long term project, I immediately give it first priority. I also give myself the rule that once I start a task, I complete it to the furthest point I can, because if I skip around less gets done. I've tweaked this more and more over time (now I print off a trifold weekly agenda from outlook so I have my appointments and my hourly, I list my tasks in the middle, and track my time on the left, and can see my full week on the right). But I've been able to measure how much I've gotten done looking back at my lists. Also, if you (like me) have some things that HAVE to get done a certain day or that day, mark it, and don't quit until it's done. This is just what works for me. Listing SEEMS like it takes a lot of time at first, but the amount of time and brain space it saves you in the long run, and the tracking benefits, are well worth it in my my opinion. Also, crossing things off a list gives me a major boost. And ending the day with a long list when I haven't completed much else pushes me harder.
  3. This is the most relatable line I've read in any NF forum. Sounds like you are having fun! I've done SCUBA and kayaking....the kayak flip is a...special skill....that I still hate to ever have to do. But it's better to know than not know, you know?
  4. I love the challenge repeat, refocus, and glance back at the past. They all seem like great strategies. WHY DID YOU NOT STEAL A BABY GOAT? We were all counting on that...I was going to suggest naming it, feeding it for a while, then devouring it. (Cause that's just who I am)
  5. That's so exciting! I'm so happy for you. Also, your file folder story was like a dual inspiration about how even if you can blame someone else that doesn't change anything (really made me think about my own work life and blame placement) and to look in the second most obvious place, even if it doesn't seem like the second most obvious place. I've loved reading all this good news, and hope things keep going well. Seems like even if they don't you are thinking positively about them.
  6. Your challenge looks awesome! I'm glad someone else has the "this doesn't work for my health, CHANGE IT" instinct/action I do. Following here, gonna find the grinding log later.
  7. So I kinda stopped updating and visiting the forums during the last challenge. I went through a breakup, and kind of shut down all forms of communication as part of the healing process. I did really well with my last challenge (minus the dancing daily part because I realized I hate being required to dance) despite disappearing on the forums, and am overall quite proud of myself. I'm still getting over the break-up and I'm having a hard time, but I have another challenge planned. Last time I exceeded my goals, so I plan to make my challenge slightly tougher, but not too much. Exercise: -BW Workout every MWF, no skipping. -Do something active for at least 20 minutes 2 times a week on off days. Diet: -Since I quit Dr. Pepper/soda last time, I want to phase out 0 calorie energy drinks that I've replaced with. Similar phase out plan, only 4 first week, 3 second week, 2 third week, 1 fourth week. -Since I lowered (and basically quit) fast food last time, meal prep 1 time a week for lunches, cook dinner 2 times a week. Personal: -Since the breakup, I've been reading more, so I'd like to read 20 minutes a night, 5x a week. -Since the breakup, I've obviously become a bit of a hermit, so I'd like to make sure I get out of the house and do something with someone else at least once a week. That's what I've got. Most of these habits I got started on in the last week or two. I plan to take BC Powder to help with headaches if I have any caffeine withdrawal. And as always drink TONS of water, which I'm pretty good at as long as I keep a filled water bottle by me. I've had a rough couple of weeks guys, but I'm super proud of myself. I plan to keep fighting through this challenge. I really appreciate that a lot of y'all still checked in after I disappeared. Anyway, onwards and upwards!
  8. NOPE! I am alllll better. I did my first bodyweight workout from the NerdFitness Academy, and it was tough. I'm noticing a distinct improvement in my overall mood though, which I really didn't expect despite all the pop culture references and articles that would have warned me. I'm also logging my food every day. I've found the challenge to be pretty easy honestly, especially now that I got back on track with the 10 minutes a day even if it's just around my apartment or office. I'm gonna finish out strong, and hopefully be done with soda and down on fast food and making movement a habit by the end of this.
  9. So I had a two day lapse from the soda thing because I got a stomach bug, and Sprite was literally the only fluid I was capable of retaining. I'm definitely not beating myself up for that especially because I ONLY drink Sprite when I am sick, and I needed to hydrate. I actually went swimming the other night, which was really nice. I think I'm going to do that more, except I'm going to put my friendship ring from my left middle to my left ring finger so I can brush off the guys in my apartment complex more easily. I'm doing pretty well despite the whole sick thing.
  10. I'm doing well on everything except the fitness. I've been working so many hours, I slacked off during the week. I'm literally debating going swimming right now (because everything hurts), but also feel super exhausted.
  11. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I hurt myself ALL the time. It's part of my motivation to get in shape because if I strengthen the muscles surrounding the joints they will have less problems. I walked/danced around WalMart for like 30 minutes and got all the stuff I needed to start cooking in my kitchen (except a fudging can opener). I have lunch stuff for the week. I had only 1 can of soda today because it just wasn't worth it to go get one.
  12. Omg I love the innovation of the idea and hope the kids respect it.
  13. Good luck! And get some non wall painting art time too. I believe in you.
  14. I respect the change for the Sabbath! I'm glad you are taking that rest day and getting some extra spiritual focus in there.
