  1. Thank you, I will try to keep everyone posted on my progress. Yes! Exactly! Splitting up to mini-goals for each quest, each with it's own reward. Now I just need to figure out how to measure progress in things like Parkour and language-learning etc... Let me know if I can help you with your list in any way!
  2. Thanks azsf, what you're saying makes sense. Separating technique and flow is precisely what I'm after! Treating it like strength training is logical. Doing reps. I like it. Where do I find exact types of those basic movements?
  3. Greetings followers of the night, As part of my quest I need to learn to Move as Shadow. Meaning, I need to move quickly, efficiently, and quietly. Enter parkour! Now, with most my other goals - particularly the ones with fittness - I have very clear idea of where I'm at. "50 pushups", "20 pullups". And where I'm going. "50 one hand pushups", "1,000,000 one hand pullups". It's clear and easy to know where I am, where I'm going, and how to get there. As I'm just starting to wrap my head around parkour, I was hoping for your help in getting systematic about leveling up. What are clearly defined goals one can have practicing parkour? How does one get there? And may the ever glowing moon lead your path.
  4. Awesomer than, I really liked that! I'm glad you guys liked my change too, it made more sense to me having a slogen that is a vision of where we hope to be.
  5. One handed muscle-up to handstand? What evil magic is this? Great find! Will totally be used for my quests!
  6. ETFnerd, do I get the girl and the boat by handstanding???
  7. Looking forward for this! The test is very similar to the Bar-Or tests we have at the IDF. Only the scoring is for pushup, situps and 2km run - and the score is 15 points for 86+ situps, 15 points for 75+ pushup and 70 points for 2km run under 6:48 minutes. Total 100, the score you need varies by where you are (or are headed).
  8. This, but how about we change it to causality? "My thoughts are free, therefore my body is the same."
  9. Great job mate! Pics or it didn't happen.
  10. Rowing or not, awesome job man! Keep up the good work, and keep us posted on that 10k!
  11. Hi everyone! So I stumbled onto NF.com yesterday, as I started taking my workouts more seriously. Until now it was mostly only pullups and pushups, maybe a little running from time to time. NF's philosophy of treating life as a game where you can level really clicked with me - probably because I love games so much, and my day to day life is oh-so-serious (I'm a soldier at the IDF). So today I worked on my life quest. It's still a draft, it's rough, and it need a lot of work to satisfy me (hey, maybe level 1 is making a proper life quest!) - but I wanted to post it here anyways because I feel this community here is amazing, and hopefully you can help me with the things I'm lacking. Onto the game! My Epic Quest of Ultimate Infinity has 5 main skills: * The Greek God * World Embracer * Survivor of the Apocalypse * Brain Hunger of a Zombie * Monopoly Master The breakdown is as follows: The Greek God - My quest to prime fitness. Stronger, faster, better. The Greek god is stronger than steel, faster than the wind and more flexible than water (ouch?). As a believer in bodyweight training, most quests will involve bodyweight skills. I level this skill by completing quests such as "Perform a one-hand handstand pushup" or "Run 2 km in less than 7 minutes". Each quest will have its own training program with the end being a test to complete the quest. World Embracer – My quest to travel, to learn, to explore. The world embracer is the skill that levels by learning a language, or visiting a new country. Also by meeting a new community, religion, idea or philosophy. One of my biggest quests here is to see the northern lights. Another is to learn 5 languages (currently mastered 2). Survivor of the Apocalypse – The zombies are coming, and so we must prepare. Combat skills, parkour and off grid living skills all fit in here. New belt in Krav Maga? Awesome skill level boost. Managed to climb that insane building? That's your skill right there. Learnt how to build a shelter in the wild and protect it? You WILL be the survivor of the apocalypse. Brain Hunger of a Zombie – Unlike want you might expect, I'm not talking about literally eating brains. I'm talking about knowledge. More of the academic type this time, though not exclusively. Hopefully I'm starting my B.Sc in Biology soon and there is so much to go from there. More degrees to earn, more books to read, more brain to eat… Umm… Scratch that last one. Monopoly Master – We all live in this awesome game, and we need gold. Or simoleons. Or whatever currency this game is using. So let the money-making begin! Invest, invent, profit! Then put all that money to good use (no raw gold toilets here). So these are my skills. I'm working on quests for them now. Any quest suggestion you feel is appropriate will be greatly appreciated! But I do not stop here, oh no! There are side quests to boot! • Publish my on book (working on one really) • Plant a tree • Tie a note to a balloon and let it go • Do a skydiving course And many more to come! Plus, inspired by the great Master Quests of Steve, I shall have Ultra-Mega Achievements: • Speak at the Google/Facebook/Microsoft/etc conference • Win a noble prize • Go to outer space (Yes, I'm coping some from Steve, he did a good job!) • Sit for a talk with 2 world leaders • Save a person's live • Create a new life (I mean literally. Part of why I want to learn biology) And this is what I have so far. I hope you like it, I sure do. Any help forming measurable quests (measurable being my weakest point) and forming a rough order of difficulty for them for any skill will be rewarded with karma points and smiles. Also, have an awesome weekend!
