  1. I'm pretty good at respawning... lol. This is my 4th time. I'd really like to not be doing this again. I always get so ramped up and then I just forget about it. Life gets in the way. But, after a move back to Vermont (from sunny Florida) about a year ago, I am realizing more and more how I need to take care of my mental health more than anything. I had forgotten how dark and dreary it gets in the winter up North. And how easily I can slip into depression. I want to do something about it. More than just medication. And to take care of my brain, I know that I need to take care of my body. So here I am again... respawning... and planning on some real adventures to keep me active physically and possibly to keep me more interested in this dark world around me.
  2. In Highgate, Vermont.... anyone in this area?
  3. It seems that we may have some similar goals (and a love of fantasy and anime). I used to run and enjoyed it immensly. Not only that I enjoyed it, but it improved my mental health. I haven't run in years. I also feel the pull to run but just don't. Maybe I'm scared. Afraid that I will be too out of shape at this point. I'm not sure. But I could really use an accountabilibuddy and wondered if you'd be interested in keeping in touch every few days to help each motivate each other and encourage each other to make some SMART goals?
  4. I agree. Sad emoji doesn't cut it. There's just nothing except a hug and an "I'm here for you."
  5. Holy crap! Congratulations! That's quite the hike!
  6. Hey Hazard! Reviewing my very old posts and I now realize you're the guild leader for the 1st time challengers. Are you still walking to Modor? I have lost my previous log so it looks like I'm starting at the beginning again. *excited and motivated*
  7. Respawn time! Been a few years since I've been active in this group. Let's see how far I can take this!
  8. So it's been awhile since I've been on but I've been a member for a few years now. Recently, I have seen my wife get very excited about getting herself into shape and eating better. It's very contagious and I'm ready to give this another shot. Possibly my 3rd respawn. (But hey, how many characters have I created in World of Warcraft? And I enjoy each one and learn something new each time) My main goal is going to be to lose 50 lbs. I do not have a SMART goal for that yet, but the subgoals will be SMART. - Eat 2 home-cooked meals at home, each with 2 vegetables and 1 lean meat. No "extras" (ex. bread or starches) -Play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) for a total of 1 hour throughout the week (At least 2 half hour sessions) -Small workout (3x a week) - 3 Sets of 10 reps (squats) - 3 Sets of 5 reps (Pushups) These are super small goals, but I think a big part of my past failure of staying in the Academy is that I chose goals too high for me because I am too darn excited and ambitious and then I realize how out-of-shape I am and how terrible my eating is and I feel terrible about myself and give up. Let's go!!
  9. Started making the smoothies I planned on making. In the past, when I have made green smoothies, I have felt a major change in my body and my energy levels and ability to focus. But also, in the past, I have had only smoothies and I believe that was too strict for me to follow because I always look forward to yummy greasy food too much and once I have a taste of it, I forget the smoothies completely and gain all of the weight back and feel terrible again. This time, my approach is to have one green smoothie a day and then whatever I want for supper. That way the temptation part is eliminated. I've also found that if I start the day off right with a green smoothie, that I tend to make better meal choices in the evening. I feel like I'm getting my life on track... slowly but surely. I've noticed a boost in my confidence and a major boost in my energy with these small changes. 12. Long day at work. Inventory. So the bosses bought us pizza and brought in donuts for breakfast. I was able to use my will power and skip the donuts, but I should have brought my own lunch and not count on them to bring in a healthy food. So i caved on Pizza. Going out for my walk/Pokemon adventure with my wife and to see the Christmas lights in the local park. 14. Ate really badly today. Broke Steve's never miss two in a row rule. So tomorrow will be better. Added another thing to my challenge, which won't be hard for me because I do it naturally, but will help me acquire some influence points for my team on Rising Heroes! Go Havik! The chart below is really helping me focus on what I need to do and I feel that it is a way to hold myself accountable. 15. Today was pretty busy at work and then I didn't eat that great for any of my meals today, but despite that, I still made myself go for a walk and get the rest of my quests completed. 16. Today the only thing I worked on physically was to go for my walk and I followed along with Jim Bathurst on the Rising Heroes site (Is anyone else here a part of it? If so, which team are you? How are you liking it?). Anyway, the video I followed along with was just the warm up (approximately 8 minutes long), and I struggled. It wasn't even the workout!! JUST THE STINKING WARM UP!! Really shows me how far I've let my heath go over the years. I was frustrated and didn't even complete all of the steps he did. I just walked in place while he showed the rest of them. It was around the 5 minute mark that I had to just walk in place, so I guess I know my starting area. The rest of the week, I will practice with it until I can complete it. Overall, not a bad night. I know where I'm at and i know where I'm heading. I don't feel as discouraged as I have in the past. 17. Fellow Xena fan here too! I will be following your adventure. I usually keep Gabrielle and Xena in mind for my fitness as well. I'm much farther behind than you are, as I am just leaving Potedia to follow Xena, but I can't wait to be wielding a staff and not watching from the sidelines. And I can't wait for Xena to let me ride the horse too!!! I'm sick of walking while she rides. Ha ha. Anyway. I spotted your user name and had to check out your post. As I said.. looking forward to following your adventure!
  18. Wow! Some really great stuff on your Pinterest board! I followed!
  19. I know this was posted quite a few months ago, but I'm looking for someone to text pretty consistently as well. At least on a daily basis If either of you are still on NF, feel free to PM me and we can start motivating and pumping each other up! woot!
  20. Went for a Pokemon hunt tonight with my wife. Was pretty perfect weather here for it in Florida... 57 degrees farenheit. 21. I made a spreadsheet to keep it more organized and "check-listy." One thing that really helps me in all aspects of my life is check lists. I've also decided that if I complete all of these goals this monthly challenge, that my loot will be to buy myself a Nerd Fitness T-Shirt Yaaaay! 22. Hi guys! I'm back to try this again. I was on NF about a year ago and fell off the bandwagon hard. 23. @fleaball I just wanted to say thank you for checking in so many times after I obviously bailed on this challenge over a year ago now. I am back to attempt this again and will be starting a new challenge soon. Love the cat gif and you can always feel free to post those randomly on my challenges because I am a total cat lady!
  24. Hello I am looking for ONE person to be my accountabilibuddy (man that is a mouthful) ha ha. Preferably to keep in contact via texting. I'd like it to be someone in the age range of 30-40 and also someone in about the same area of fitness and health as I am... which is pretty much zero on both of those. Someone who is a beginner and that we can lean on each other and communicate daily on what we are doing for fitness and for nutrition and overall leveling up our lives.
  25. I posted in my challenge log and this is my log: Since this is my first "attempt" at a challenge, I am not too worried, but I have not kept to all of the challenges I set for myself. I guess I set a few too many. However, i have seen some good habits forming so i have very hopeful for my next challenge and I will continue to go for this challenge also. Even though I am not doing as well as I expected at my challenge, I am still very hopeful and excited for the coming 4-week challenges. I also switched my walk log app to RunKeeper because rather than MapMyWalk I can set a goal of distance (which comes in mighty handy for that walk to Mordor)
