  1. Social media may be something to curate or minimize, if you can. It always, always gives a skewed, partial story. Can you develop affirmations or mantras that will help you remember that and push against either the false perfection or the trouble-talk types of social media postings? For all of the illusion that Instragram or Twitter or ?? are reality --- they are no more real that a TV show. Do you have any friends/acquaintances who have young kids? They probably can give you a more balanced perspective. It is both true, for instance, that sitting for my grandson when he is sick and fussy is a royal pain .... but then he smiles at me, and it is all so worth the frustration.
  2. Winding down the challenge with Friday ..... Week 3 S M T W Th F S Strength Cardio Social MINDful Eating 10 We bought a baby sled to pull LTL around when snow finally comes: Today, we have dense fog ... it's just ..... wrong. But it does make it easier to do the last minute wrapping, baking, and cleaning for the holiday.
  3. Since there is usually too much food at these things .... that's fine. I have trouble internalizing this too. I hope you enjoy all of the festivities!!
  4. If they still have the baby sleds, we're going to express optimism and buy one. He only weighs 20.5 pounds .... we can pull him on grass, if necessary. When we pulled him around the house in the laundry basket, he loved it. Yesterday was a very social day between the party at noon and then going to see hubby's family in the afternoon. I managed to stick to a lot of salad, a little roast beef, and some veggies at lunch. Vegetable soup for supper. And a few cookies. Nutrition-wise, I'm doing OK ... which is great while in the midst of the holidays. I took a walk in the woods, but am otherwise recovering from Wednesday's CrossFit. It was a great upper body workout .... and I have a lot of room to improve. 🤣 Week 3 S M T W Th F S Strength Cardio Social MINDful Eating 8.5

  6. Having studied Aristotle and ancient Greek, I sympathize with the boar. We eschew the boar's head for BBQ ribs on Christmas Eve.
  7. Wednesday .... CrossFit!!!!! Week 3 S M T W Th F S Strength Cardio Social MINDful Eating 8 We're into the week of celebrations and food and parties. The Rotary party is today at noon, and then we are heading up to hubby's sister's house to spend the afternoon with their family. My goal is to eat reasonable amounts and not give into the "all or nothing" mentality that equates a bite to a binge. Breakfast and dinner can both be focused on health-enhancing foods. Christmas is going to be a warm and wet affair. I've held off getting a sled for LTL because I don't know if/when we will get snow .... it could be too cold for a baby to be outside when it finally does arrive. So .... playing it by ear as we are planning the long weekend.
  8. Definitely!! I like this box because the coaches are totally non-judgemental about scaling enough to do workouts consistently through the week. I'm a little stiff this morning from Monday's workout, but I am planning to go because I'm sure the warm up will work it out. Monday ....   11. Monday ... CrossFit was accomplished. I have so much fun there that I wonder why I talk myself out of going sometimes. I am working on adding vegetables, nuts, and beans to more meals. Last night, we had chicken soup and added chopped, frozen spinach ... you really can't taste it, but it added to my "leafy vegetables" count.   12. Sunday of the last week of the challenge .... We had LTL over at our house again and got a stroller ride in the woods before the winter winds started up. When he went home, I got out to do some Christmas shopping and went to the library. I've been studying local natural history, and they have a lot of books on the subject. Week 3 S M T W Th F S Strength Cardio Social MINDful Eating 6 Today, I'm hoping to get to CrossFit. Still have sinus congestion, but the cold symptoms are gone. I have a feeling that it's going to be a rough winter for colds etc. So, gotta get a workout when I can.
  13. As a first-time grandmother, I am feeling the scaries again and remembering how scared I was at times as a new mother. Being scared is valid ... this is a big change!! We're here to listen.

  15. We had a good day with family yesterday, although it was long again. Car repairs never take as little time as you think they will. But that gave me a lot of time with LTL and our daughter. We even got a stroller ride in the woods. LTL wasn't ready to walk around the yard in his boots, but he let us hold him and walk around. But I think I did pretty well this week considering how bad my cold was.
  16. Thank you! I got a walk in, did some housework, drank loads of herbal tea, and rested. We caught up on the Dr. Who and GBBO Christmas specials. The worst of the cold symptoms are over.   19. Ugh. I'm still working on kicking out the invaders. I did a lot of reading and watching holiday specials, although I did order some Christmas presents. I had planned to see a friend for lunch, but she has COVID ... LTL has a third ear infection .... poor baby. We did a lot of holiday baking early ... and I'm going to see if the local bakery is making holiday breads this year, just in case I'm not feeling up to it myself.
  20. Viruses love me. I have a head cold. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So, I am embracing it as the opportunity to catch up on reading and watching some TV. I did get out yesterday and went to the gym to do strength training. "I'll just walk on the treadmill ...." turned into a solid jog of 2 miles. Just casual chit chat at the gym. Still in the red/orange zone as of this morning.
  21. Hope you feel better soon and that Lil' Bit recovers. I watch the GBBO whenever I need to have something on that I don't need to focus upon.
  22. Starting off Week 2, Sunday was a solid day. Ignore the red for "MINDful Eating" since it takes a while to earn points: Week 0 Week 1 Week 2 S M T W Th F S S M T W Th F S S M T W Th F S Strength Cardio Social MINDful Eating 10 9 5.5 It was music Sunday at church ... so two anthems each at two services for the adult choir (we sounded good!), and various handbell choirs. Next week is the children's program. I am loving December back at our home church. I made the walk in the woods into OCR training by carrying the 10 pound sandbell. With icy conditions, that really was a solid challenge. Today ... the zone system is my friend. I woke up with a sinus headace at 2:30 am. It's not totally gone yet So, we're in the red to orange zone this morning.
