  2. So it's been years since I've updated my workout playlist, and new changes are good for jumpstarting motivation. What are some of your favorite songs you workout to? Personally, I go for rock, but since I'm in need of something new, I'll give anything a listen.
  3. 4. Wednesday August 16 50 minutes on the treadmill, took my dog for a two mile walk. Thursday August 17 1 hr, 45 minutes ice hockey, ice skating. Friday August 18 Rest day
  5. Monday August 14 I'm on an overnight schedule for a couple of days, so my workouts were at strange times and are done quietly, so as to not disturb the roommates. Meaning, no box jumps, elliptical, punching bag, screams of frustration, ect. I did a short core workout around 2am; Crunches on the slant board, with and without medicine ball, cross jab, and medicine ball twist, followed by bicycle kicks. Sets of 10-12 push-ups during each rest. Another workout, full body, 10:45pm: 3 Circuits, with three sets of each exercise. 1st Circuit: Bench press (70lbs), slant board sit-ups, kettlebell swing 2nd Circuit: Single arm shoulder press (20lbs), bicycle kicks (70), lunges with medicine ball twist 3rd Circuit: Bent over single arm row (28lbs), single leg skater jumps, windshield wipers For weight lifting, I try to do ten reps for single arm exercises, 5-7 for bench press. For most other exercises, I do as many reps as I can.
  6. You know how in the movies there's that minute long sequence of rigorous training the character goes through before the big finale? Well, these daily logs would (hopefully) comprise such a montage, if I were making one. Imagination is a good motivator. I have five main goals: 1. Burn away the fat that makes the jiggly parts of my body all jiggly 2. Do a pull-up (for the first time in my life) and do real push-ups (not from the knees, proper form) 3. Run a mile without walking\stopping, and in under 9 minutes (running is my worst aspect, shin splints and terrible cardio make it an awful experience) 4. Be a better\stronger hockey player. Skate faster, solid balance, harder shots 5. Find happiness, both with my physical self and in my personal life, wherever happiness can be found My workouts so far include the following; 1. Weight lifting\strength training-bench press, deadlift, shoulder press, bicep curls, triceps, free weights work 2. For legs-lunges (bodyweight and added weight), box jumps, sprints, cycling, running (typically on the treadmill) 3. Cardio-Running, cycling, jump rope, ice skating, punching bag, 4. Core-deadlift, slant board crunches, medicine ball twists, bicycle kicks, occasional planking I recently started keeping a food log (written) and decided to try keeping a log of my workouts as well. This is mostly for me, but any feedback, advice, suggestions are welcome. My schedule is random and so I can't keep a strong routine, but I find the time to make it happen. If you read all of this, thank you for doing so, and good luck in all of your efforts.
  7. ....long enough to write this (The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie, in case you were wondering). About three years ago, I started a job that required some literal heavy lifting, and thus I finally found my motivation to begin my weight loss, strength gain journey. I lost almost 20 lbs without realizing it, and was still 10 lbs short of my main goal. However, that's where the happy story ends. I haven't been able to lose any more since then, despite changing workouts and diets. My eating habits are my biggest problem; anxiety and depression are quite the will-power killers. After far too many bad days and too few good days, I've finally decided I can't do this alone, and thus here I am, seeking advice, encouragement, a good joke, whatever. My weights loss goal is to lose another ten pounds, burn the fat away from my arms and waist. My strength goals are to FINALLY do a pull-up (we'll start with just one), solid push-ups without the help of my knees, and running a mile in 9 min or under. So, I have no idea how this site works yet, but hit me with whatever you've got, and I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks for reading.
