  1. Did some squats on Friday. Nothing crazy, just worked up to a single at 455. Hit a benchpress PR on Saturday. Worked up to a single at 365 Also: CGBP - 2 sets of 2 @ 315 Incline Bench - 1 set of 5 @ 225, 1 set of 5 @ 255 Incline DB flies - 1 set of 12 @ 40 per hand Incline DB Press - 1 set of 5 @ 120 per hand (did this later in the evening after some drinking with a buddy... starting to see a problem with having my own gym...) I'll be hitting Deadlifts tonight and will hopefully set a new max above and beyond last week's efforts.
  2. Thanks for checking for me! It is a curious development.
  3. Wow, so much walking! Reminds me of my big city days when I would do similarly epic walks... those days are over. I still cover a lot of miles, but it's on my ass in a car.
  4. For some reason my instagram links don't work Let me know if you're legitimately interested and I'll repost. You can visit me on IG @thebasementpowerlifter too and we can follow each other for lifting inspirational goodness.
  5. Alright, been a while since I've posted. Between the crack known as Instagram and the wellness challenge at work throughout the month of October, I kind of hit the wall in regards to my log updates. It also didn't help that the last time I tried to do one of these I timed out (or something happened) and the post I had written didn't actually post. Anyway, back at it! I've been battling a cold for the last four weeks that at various times has been manageable or debilitating depending on how the virus feels that day. It hasn't affected my workouts too much, as on the worst days I
  6. My buddy and I have a tool we use for explaining the volume of weight I lift to illustrate to folks less conversant in weight training exactly how much I'm lifting. He created this converter to assist, feel free to use this tool when explaining your efforts to others who may not be as into the gym as you are. https://nuggetconverter.weebly.com/ Also, it sets a value to the volume. This may help people understand how baller you are should, at any time, one offer you a challenge wherein you can win the monetary value of whatever weight of something you can l
  7. Awesome, debt sucks! Crush it anyway you can!
  8. Good job! I gotta get my ass out on more walks too!
  9. I'm not sure what @Laghail 's overall game plan is (so I should shut the fuck up), but it's common to go for a few months doing higher intensity, lower rep stuff. I did it for over a year once, basically working up to heavy doubles or singles, to recoup some lost gains I had and then blew past those into new maxes ... but I don't know if that's recommended for most since I was only doing this 'instinctively' as powerlifting programs weren't as prevalent 8 years ago... and by gains I mean bench press gains, so I'm not sure if this technique would have been as useful if I was properly focussing
  10. I really don't have much more to add to what @Juni0r83 said. He knows his shite. The only thing I would say about rows is that a little body English is fine in my opinion, especially when you're pulling them that high into your chest. At a certain point you're going to hit a spot in your ROM that is not going to be able to handle the weight that you can handle for like 90% of the movement. In these instances, I don't think it's a detriment to 'cheat' the weight a little. This is especially true if you're trying to build power and explosiveness, which can contribute to solid ga
  11. Since last post I've done deadlifts, squats, bench presses and power cleans. More deadlifts to come this Saturday. Been so long I can't say too much about these workouts with any accuracy. The whole famjam is under the weather, but my crazy toddler son still wants to be up early and run around like a crazy-ass. Oh well. Oh! I did achieve one of my bench goals the other day by doing 20 reps at 225. I was going to do 5 as a bit of a cool down but they felt so easy, I kept going. No wrist wraps, no elbow sleeves and feeling like total crapola. Best of all I had reps in the ta
  12. Hey, that's good advice I gave you! You'll be polishing my knob in a month you'll be so happy with your GAINZZZ!!!
  13. Getting stronger through laziness. It's the only way to fly.
