  1. Sassy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle this year I'm excited!
  2. when I first started my fitness journey in January I started using MyFitnessPal app to start learning and seeing what I was actually eating. Then in about Feb I started a blog (blogspot - i hadn't discovered NF yet) that I recorded every day what I ate, what fitness I did, how I was feeling etc. I also logged in all my measurements and would post monthly progress photos. It really helped in the beginning to keep me accurate and motivated. I didn't want to cheat that day because I knew I'd have to record it to print (or electronic text, whatever). And then as time went on, it serves as complete motivation and happiness when I look back and see how far I've come. I don't record my daily movements anymore, but still keep up with the measurements and photos and milestones. And I've never shared the link with anyone so it is completely and honestly me, without any fear of someone reading something unflattering. One day soon I hope to share it as a tool for others to be able look at and possibly be inspired, but one day at a time.
  3. I am not a fan of spinach but I know I need it so a bag of frozen chopped spinach is a staple to my freezer. I throw a cup or so of it in almost anything I make (meat, cassaroles, omelets etc), so that I am getting it but the taste is usually drowned out a bit. I always throw it in the microwave for 45secs or so and then mash a fork on it to drain the liquid.
  4. I've done the one legged squats which are intense. And then i do these squat and a halves (I dont know official name) - squat down, come half way up, squat back down and then come all the way up in all one quick fluid motion. Seems simple at first but once you get a few in you start to feel the burn.
  5. I am coming off of a 4 year dating exile after a 7 year relationship. I believe its karma. In the beginning, I met awesome guys who I did not treat well because I was in a different mind frame. Now that I am ready to give it a serious go with someone, I meet jerks. lol. Oh well. I really do want to meet someone and try the dating thing again, but it terrifies the hell out of me and it is almost impossible for me to feel a spark for someone. But that is life. if it is meant to be, it will be.
  6. On Air - The Vampire Diaries Criminal Minds Justified Mad Men Supernatural (well S1-4, 5-7 have been a joke but my early love keeps me going)/The Good Wife Off Air The West Wing Arrested Development Sports Night Jack & Bobby (only 1 Season sadly) Six Feet Under And then I've seen S1 of The Wire so far and it was beyond fantastic but have to watch more seasons before I can claim the show as a whole.
  7. I just started running in the last month. I definitely enjoy running outside better than the treadmill, but tend to stick to the treadmill right now to learn how to pace myself. I have the habit to "go big or go home" in all i do and cannot seem to "jog" when outside, before I know it I am in sprinting mode, which means I'm exhausted after a few laps. I also quit smoking 7 months ago so my body/lungs are still getting used to the whole cardio thing, so the treadmill helps me maintain a better pace so i can go longer without having to stop and pant. One day at a time.
  8. I just finished The Wire S1 - fan-freakin-tastic!!!! A must see!
  9. Ha! I completely agree. I don't belong or have a board, but I will just log onto the regular website and browse what they show when I'm bored. I go through such a mix of emotions. One minute flying high and feeling all pumped for fitness, then drooling over food I can't eat, and then feeling like crap because I can't draw a stick figure let alone design a whole room like a tree... but oh what's that, half naked man? yes, thank you, more please. Oh another save the date picture, my single ass thanks you for reminding me I'm alone, ooooooh books pretty book case..... and so on.
  10. Mikepants - I just went to the one in Jersey City a few months ago. I LOVE that place! Totally rocked some old school Donky Kong!
  11. I agree. No matter how scatter brained a bride is, invitations and confirmed RSVPs are usually one of highest priorities.....
  12. or the "side walk". Start in regular plank position and then tip toe your lower body all the way to the side. then back. and then to the other side. last week, we tried the ones where my feet are up on the wall.... but with my disproportional legs/arm ratio, it takes me forever to find a comfortable balance, and then my feet always slide down. more comical than anything that i cannot master these.
  13. Understand that dollar stores and WalMart will be your very close friends. I've been on my own for a while and they are still my good friends. Good luck, it's scary but exciting!
  14. Ahhh, OKCupid.... I've been on there for a bit. I log on every once in a while. I'm still in my weight loss mode and just starting my muscle building so I'm not overly jacked in any of my photos, but I know what you mean. I have a paragraph about my fitness goals and that I work out 3-4 days a week with a trainer, etc etc. And I constantly get emails with "I hope you don't bulk up too much, wouldn't want you to beat me up" etc etc. I just chalk it up to people being stupid. I roll my eyes at about 95% of the messages I see on there and POF. My biggest issue so far is finding time to date. I try not to move or interrupt my week gym schedule for the awkward "first meeting" because I am serious about my routine. By the time I get home, shower, etc it is close to 8 and then to travel out anywhere outside my area, kinda kills any time you can spend. Some guys are understanding and willing to be flexible, some just get annoyed right off the bat. Whatever.
