    Suse challenge

already this challenge is working for me. I just did a 30 second plank (ok I counted to 30 slowly so it might have realistically been 20 seconds and when you have a dog stick their nose in your face it does make it tricky to hold on) I also did another 5 knee pushups with good form (and by that I mean making sure my shoulders are down at the back and getting a really good dip in) I did some of my theraband exercises but I get tired real quick with them, which I suppose is kind of good... I guess i"ll get a bit more strength and not be so tired if I do them more often. I apologise in advance to anyone reading and thinking yawn, but really having this one simple goal is probably good for me. oh yeah, and the garage, I really want to get a bit of stuff sorted down there. Its not bad, but I've been procrastinating.
  3. re goal no.2. low calorie/low carb. If you get a chance take a look at marksdailyapple.com. full of fantastic information. I think matt (67alecto) is in on the paleo as well (as am I), your carbs can be low, but that doesnt neccessarily follow that your calories should be.... fat is your friend! Good luck. I'll be keeping tabs.
  4. I love ramblers...! yay. wrap dresses are so flattering, good luck on that one. do you sew on your own or are you going to a class with some tuition for it. I did a sewing class a few years back and it was great, made a nice skirt but I have to say I wouldnt have confidence now to attack anything. maybe I'll make that my next level up goal as finding clothes to fit me nicely is a real pain in the ass.
  5. hey matt, I'm kind of glad to hear you're giving yourself a break from chronic g.ym work. You gotta mix stuff up from time to time. Have you tried IF's at all, I cant remember from reading your past journal entries.
  6. hey team mates, great to meet you all. I can assure you I will follow your challenge with great interest. as for team name, no idea!
  7. hey Dantes, if I havent already suggested this, you should try a chiropracter to help with your back, neck, ankle, shoulder injuries. I started seeing a really good one up here in Auckland and my shoulder mobility jumped ahead in leaps and bounds. he even puts my feet back into alignment as well (and I've sprained my ankle viciously a number of times)

    Suse challenge

did one lot of theraband exercises yesterday Got out of bed this morning and did 5 knee pushups. My plans today are to do more of my theraband exercises, all of them, get in some planks and maybe some more pushups this evening. Under the house sort out will have to wait for weekend.
  9. My goals are very simple 1. Gain strength back in my shoulder. Its slow progress because I have a slight fear of hurting it, and I just seem to keep forgetting to do the exercises the physio gives me. doh. - do theraband exercises from physio every day while at work. - work up to a 1 minute plank - which I can do anywhere, anytime - work up to 20 knee pushups (no full pushups just yet, I absolutely must ensure my form is perfect to not bugger up shoulder) Ok I might look a bit stupid doing these at work so they are an at home exercise. 2. Clean out the crap under the house I know, pretty boring, but hopefully achievable.
  10. ok I want to be back in this month, happy to be in a team to help kick asses if needed. My goals are very simple 1. Gain strength back in my shoulder. Its slow progress because I have a slight fear of hurting it, and I just seem to keep forgetting to do the exercises the physio gives me. doh. - do theraband exercises from physio every day while at work. - work up to a 1 minute plank - work up to 20 knee pushups (no full pushups just yet, I absolutely must ensure my form is perfect to not bugger up shoulder) 2. Clean out the crap under the house By the end of the month, I may be strong enough to get back to bootcamp.
  11. I like the grey one. I hate the term rebel pride sorry. Pride goes before a fall anyway doesnt it
  12. good to hear you are smacking your goals Dantes. Bad luck about the back injury. I second Alethea on the chiropracter. I've just been seeing one for the last two weeks for my shoulder and the massive improvement has meant it has been money well spent. I totally expect to be back at bootcamp within the month.
  13. coconut milk or coconut cream in your smoothies. That'll up your fat levels and it is delicious!!! And sweet potatoes are your friends, dont let anyone tell you otherwise....
  14. you could try taking a magnesium supplement. Just be warned though that it can have a laxative effect if you take too much. I too have dreadful sleep issues from time to time. I can get to sleep fine, but staying that way, grrr drives me freaking insane.
  15. that is just hilarious! ever have moments when you just cant win!!!
  16. you're a legend mate, legend!!!
  17. pretty much complete failure for me. These were my goals. 1. No rice, pasta or bread (however, in the interests of the 80/20 primal rule, I'll allow a piece of bread once a week at the most) hmmm a lot of bread eaten, but minimal compared to the bad old days. No rice or pasta though 2. Abdominal exercises - yet to be determined Yeah, absolutely none! WTF. My shoulder was just giving me a lot of gyp, I couldnt even do a plank. I gave up! Me bad. 3. Sprint once a week - ok how hard can that be... get out walking the dogs and bloody well sprint with them.... seriously, come on.... but trust me, it will be hard. Haha, told you it would be hard. Nope, never happened. 4. By end of month, I want weight to be 53kgs and body fat 21.5% (on home scale). Will check figures on 2 August but this morning they were 54.9kg and 22.7BF. Ok weirdly, after all the above, the last couple of mornings I have weighed in at 53.1kg and 21.3bf. Go figure!
  18. well end of challenge and although its mostly been a washout for me, I'm not unhappy. Lots of failure on the grain eating front, but when I ate bread it was mostly sourdough so I dont feel too bad about that. I dont think I ate rice or pasta anytime?? Exercise just didnt happen due mostly to the shoulder. Pain can really wreck your best intentions. However shoulder is on the road to recovery and I have started doing some squats until I am given the go ahead for any upper body stuff Weight this morning was down to 53.1 and body fat 21.3 so I'd say thats a win.
  19. Congratulations and well done. Your hard work paid off!
  20. good run on the weight loss there at the end!!
  21. you have been so good on the exercise front. I am suitably impressed with your commitment. If only I had 1% of it.
  22. I really feel for you on the shoulder pain. Hope it comes right soon.
  23. sounds like you've been kicking ass. Well done.
  24. I've actually been doing some squats over the weekend. Sat and sunday. Thats all but hey its a start. My legs are a little bit sore... in a good way oh yeah, times are a changing. Shoulder is definitely freer at the moment, a long way to recovery I think but I feel positive about it and not in constant pain and that just seems to make everything do-able.... you dont realise just how much pain affects you, it starts to become normal and drags you down.
  25. hell I just realised that my goal at the beginning of the month was to be 53kg and 21.5bf and I'm below both! well I was on friday anyway, had a huge meal last night, could be different today
