  1. On a regular day I crawl out of bed between 8 an 9...unless my dog persists that the bathroom is more important than sleeping at 4am.. My fiancée and I tend to stay up late after work and I'm going to bed at the midnight/1am mark.
  2. I tried self teaching myself butterfly.... I look like a dying fish having a seizure. Most pool programs across Saskatchewan...unless they are speed swimming, butterfly isn't taught in the life saving society...it is briefly touched on in Red Cross in level 10 but it is a skill not a stroke... I've been working with flippers to get a dolphin kick going. Our pool teachings through the LSS now and they don't teach dolphin kick. But I also work at another pool that does teach Red Cross but I work very seldom lay out there. When I'm guarding a lot of the adults ask for my input on strokes. So if the lifeguards are friendly, ask them for their input.
  3. Currently I'm working on Japanese... I have slacked off though in the past few weeks due to moving to a different place. But I use a lot of music and movies to listen to the language and bought myself a few books. I can read and write the kana systems and I roughly had about 100 kanji but I feel like I forgot them. In future I want to do some mission work in Japan. After Japanese I plan on studying Mandarin and then move onto Korean. One thing I can not get over is when I speak a bit of Japanese. Everyone thinks I am speaking Spanish...I don't think the two remotely sound a like.... A tool I have used to study kanji is putting the character on colourful post it notes and sticking them to my wall across my bed and read them before sleeping.
  4. So is for sure has a gluten intolerance. Waiting for blood results to see whether I'm Celiak or not. Also I did 1000 skips with my personal trainer today.... I feel accomplished of something.

  5. So I just realized where your from and am awed with the fact that here is someone else on the forums that is from the prairies.... Glad to know tha I'm not alone.
  6. So going gluten free and wondering if it has anything to do with my problems.... Not used to it and have to fnd a good number of alternatives....apsta is a bad one.

i prefer brown rice pasta for gluten free pasta..its delicious

  7. It's not just my neck. My neck feels like the greatest culprit probably because in addition to it not be sorted out. I achieve most tension there due to everything else I do that starts in my back shoulders all that jazz. Now that I've looked into it I'm bloated real easy and now it truly is making me wonder whether gluten has something to do with it. When I think about it. Eating gluten free is probably healthier too. I tend to hit starches or wheat quickly because they fill me up and when I'm guarding or teaching swimming lessons they give me energy and enough to sustain me... I'll see what happens for a couple weeks. If problems went resulving then I will start questioning more. I've been through therapy and put in lots of time and money for two years now. Not only is it digging a hole in my pocket I have had no results and went to multiple places... I'm trying everything now...
  8. So, after my orthopedic doctor got back to me and found nothing wrong with my neck. The MRI showed nothing...I'm left back at square one where to go. I was talking with my boyfriends relatives and they mentioned the health benefits of gluten free and the muscles. I don't really know what these are or whether it is true or not. Does anyone have insight on this? At this point I want nothing more than to be rid of this problem. If this is true I think I will attempt a gluten free diet... See if that does help me out a bit... Should I be going to the doctor about this...because they haven't really been helping me out too much lately.... Help?
  9. Is back from China. Extreme jetlag apparently after falling asleep at 7am....and waking up at 4pm....

That was a Hell of a nap!

  10. Before I dealt with some neck issues, I was averaging 30 hours a week in water just teaching lessons and I swim for myself every other day. So about 3 to 4....plus all the laps I end up swimming with the kids... I have been doing 1600 two or three times or a knock it down to 1000 with very few breaks. I've been practicing flip turns and trying to work up to 400 meters without stopping and using a flip turn. On the other half of the days I work with a personal trainer who kicks my ass and made me detest medicine balls with a passion....
  11. I have never been able to do an open water swim....I've never been near open water though.... I have always had a pool. But my lifeguard instincts tell me that when swimming in open water, one must be careful of the current and how strong or weak it is. Do you know what kind of wild life is in the water on the beach? Is there water life that could be harmful? Try swimming in a wave pool and see how difficult it is.
  12. So I'm back at again. Just hoping no injury befalls me this time.

  13. So I'm back at again...I think this is like the third time...but now I have no excuses. Last time I started and my goal was mainly on swimming and time swims for work. I got that down pact I'm still doing that. I floated around on the challenge around December. I died when my neck came back to bother me and put me in a torticollis where I couldn't move my neck. Two months of pain and suffering I'm a lot better...I see a specialist this week about it too... But in any case now I'm back to really getting a higher fitness, this time focusing on building muscle and lifting weights. My goal.....don't really have it established completely yet. But it's supposed to help me towards paramedic training because I have to be able to lift so much and be really strong in my fitness. The how? Well I didn't know where to start. A new training center opened in my city. A Co Worker told me and I was going to join a class...but then I decided I would go with the personal trainer rout when one of the trainers is a qualified paramedic himself. he is now gearing my workouts specifically on working my way up for the strength of a paramedic. Which really excites me. (and kills me inside sometimes) So far I have finished three sessions with my trainer. I can lift a lot more weight than I thought I could...my left side struggles a bit but it's getting there. I have four sessions planned before I leave for about two weeks to China and may or may not get a chance to do a lot of working out...I'll accomplish some....but not going to be as intense as what I have been doing. When I come back I will be back at it again. Once I recover from jet lag. My week (once our pool is working again) will look something like this. Monday- Swim 1000to 1600 m Tuesday - Personal Training Wednesday-Swim 1000 m to 1600 m Thursday- Personal training Friday- Swim or rest Saturday- no personal training but work on what I learned.... Learning to love the agility ladder Sunday-Rest and hot tub. I will probably take the personal training up to three times a week once I get my money settled again once I get back from China. But for now I'm keeping my body from too much... I plan to accomplish the possible and take it step by step and hold myself accountable! Any support is good support!
  14. Great job with the workouts thus far. I wish there were more people on the forums that swam. Swimming was...well still is what I do the most. I wish I had a competitive background...but we didn't have that kind of thing where I grew up. However, while 17 and 18 I trained myself to be a lifeguard and started swimming a lot after that. I started to love the water. I have got myself up to a 1600 meter workout that I can finish in about 45 minutes...so not that bad. Right now the pool that I work at...finally found out the problem with it. Just going to take a bit of time to get it up and running again. Swimming is a great workout. I think its the fact that people are turned away from it because it is completely different from other cardio such as running or biking. I have a hard time running or biking than I do swimming. It's that and people try to do too much too fast as well as there is a fear that resonates with water then there does with running or biking because if you don't know how to swim or struggle...it potentially is dangerous.. .
  15. So should I be concerned of a concussion if I took about 15 hits to the head at kick boxing. Symptoms are mild headache, irritable, tired and didn't want to get out of bed this morning...

  16. It ended up being a problem with the pool itself. There were large amounts of accidents happening in that pool leading us to shock the pool with large amounts of HTH a chlorine, and Soda Ash as well. the rubbing of my bathing suit contributed to that as well. But now the pool is under control and the rashes are gone.
  17. A Swimmer Rash? So this gets really embarresing after a while. I'm teaching swimming lessons and am in and out of the water, moving lots. and I have began to notice it burns to take off my bathing suits and under my arms are rashes. they burn like no other and I try and mopisturize and wash them of chlorine....but is there anyone else who has this problem and in the water lots? I change bathing suits three times a day. I mostly have problems witht the rashes under my arms and my rear... Are there ways to prevent this?
  18. I agree, swimming is a great thing. I'm in the water just about every day teaching swimming lessons. And then I also teach water workout, which is another great way to stay in shape because it is a low impact workout. I try to swim 1600 meters at least once a week and 1000 for the rest. Iwish I could have been a competitive swimmer...I'm learning how to do a butter fly...and failing horribly...
  19. I believe I have disapeered and re injured herself....

  20. Well definitly goign to try again. \i definitly didn't even attempt it toniht...not at all. today I swam my 1500 meter workout. I couldn't even make the attempt to swim my time swim. Supper didn't quite sit nicely/..though I made somethign new... A friend cam over and we made a chicken alfredo spagetti....It tasted amazing but...it just didn't sit nicely and I could swim that 400 to save my life. Sol I made 1500 instead. This is what the swim workout looked like 100m breast stroke 400 m front crawl 50 meter sprints 100m whip kick 100 m flutter kick 100m front crawl only arms 100mflutter kick with flippers 100m dolphin kick with flippers 100m butterfly drill 200m front crawl with flippers 100m front crawl only arms 100m breast stroke I'm going to feel this tomorrow....and I have to teach swimming lessons....and 3 hours of kick boxing but I'm excited for kick boxing tomorrow. I'm lookign at getting my own punching bag for my house so I can use it all the time. And my gym battle is being moved to Saturday because we are doing that time siwm during the inservicve for work soi I dewcide my gym battle will be at work. So my Pokemon look like this today Charmander is level 6 Oshawatt is level 7 Ralts is level 5 Eevee is level 5 Blitzle is level 5 Rufflet is level 5 Tomorrow is kick boxing day and I don't know what the focus is yet...hopefully it doesn't kill me...
  21. The gym battle is the 400 meters under 10 minutes. My best so far is 8:23 and I want to put it under seven if at all possible. I havn't swam that for a long time because the last time I did was before my broken thumb. I want to be able to swim it before I have to during inservice at work. It's isn't totaly hard but I need to know I can do it. I'm thinking of gym battles on the spot basically...kind fo hard actually.
  22. A little late...oops. So on Thursday I had kick boxing. It only went for two hours that night because kick boxing was competing against the college gamees that were going on. But \i still got an ab workout out of it. Kick boxing is providing me a way to get rid of some steam and added stress in my life right now. Friday I DID IT and survived. Friday I had to teach swimming lessons like I normally do. I also had to guard teen swim from 9 to 12 at night. Before that I swam and I made 1500 meters. My workout looked like this 100m breast stroke 400 m front crawl 50 meter sprints 100m whip kick 100 m flutter kick 100m front crawl only arms 100mflutter kick with flippers 100m dolphin kick with flippers 100m butterfly drill 200m front crawl with flippers 100m front crawl only arms 100m breast stroke My pokemon at this point are at these levels Charmander level 5 Oshawatt level 6 Ralts level 5 Eevee level 5 Blitzle level 4 Rufflet level 4 On monday I will hopefully swim my 400 meters under 10 minutes
  23. So I was definitly sore today. My arms and my legs and I could feel my abs hurt from the jump kicks we did. I felt really sore and lessons just killed me. I had orientation at another pool today and just getting around the pool I start lessons next week and I'm excited but at the same time a little nervous because I never know what to do sometimes with a parent and tot class it's iffy.... Anyways I still have not made it to 1500 meters I jhust hurt too much tonight to do it. so I just swam 1000 meters. And after swimming my body feels way better. My shoulders still hurt but they would hurt from throwing so many punches last ngiht... Tomorrow I have another kick boxing night. I think I'll go for the full three hours and then the weekend I have decided is a rest weekend. I'm going to soke in the weeks full workout. I feel happy because people at work say that I look like I've lost weight...but it's that I look more toned and that's what I'm happy about and so I plan to keep it up no matter how sore I feel. Today Oshawat and Rufflet gained a level . Oshawatt is level 6 and Rufflet is level 3. I've now decided to push the gym battle all the way to next Monday. I think that because my body is a bit sore I don't want to kill it when I swim...so I'm pushing it to a later date....
  24. So today I did do a lot...I'm going to feel the pain tomorrow and not be able to get out of bed....but I did a lot today. So for sure I have been feeling under the weather. My throats kind of hurt but not a lot...I've had a bit of a cloudy head so basically a head cold. Saturday I remberber teaching lessons and then sleeping 12 30 to 5 30 straight. My body is just taking a toll. Last night I was sacked out on the couch, basically passed out by eight and I did wake up 3 times through the ngiht but then I had alarms starting to go off at 4 45 so I could start getting out of bed. ...Then proceeded to wake up ten minutes before my shift and was like shit gotta get to work.... Anyways, I spent the majority of my day at the pool. I taught three hours of swimming lessons, nothing new there and then came back home. charmander gains bonus points because I cooked soemthing new....boneles dry ribs and tortalini. It was good and I have left overs for the rest of the week. After that I lazed around on the computer and then travelled 15 minutes out of town for KICKBOXING I was so happy to go again. I\m now lookign at gettigna stand up punching bag so I can let the added steam off at my own house. I'm pretty bad with the world it seems and I just want to punch things....anger managment could be an isue...but I just let it bottle up. I had three hours straight of kick boxing.....We do a warm up which includes push ups that I can't do at all...and a lot of things I havn't done in a while... We also focused on legs and the killer arms.... I'm going to be sore tomorrow....soooo so sore. We also did a lot of kicking and tryign to remember everything I did last year. Eevee gets an extra 15 minutes for completing kickboxing...it was technically two classes...but I'm going to just say one... Tomorrow I will attempt to swim...I may be sore but I hope to accomplish it. Pokemon Standings Charmander- 2.75 hours- level 5 Oshawatt- 2 hours- level 5 Ralts- 1 hour- level 3 Eevee-.75 hours- level 2 Blitzle- 1 hour- level 3 Rufflet-.5 hours- level 2 I now how enough pokemon at the right level to challenge a gym leader. So I think what my gym leader will be is water realated. On Friday, I plan to swim my time swim for NLS which is 400 meters in 10 minutes. I just wanted to stat out easy.
