  1. Thanks for the rely Elastgirl, I like the meme, I have known many people that used that as a Motto. I would like to share mine with you. TANSTAAFL! It is a term used throughout one of my favorite books by my favorite author, Robert Heinlein. It was used and introduced in the book "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" and stands for There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch ! I use it as an expletive, a stand alone statement and as a motivational term. If you have time and have not read the book it is worth the time, and it is a good thing to keep in the back of your mind. TANSTAAFL! 2. Well, So it begins! I had a meeting with my new workout partner lat night and we have all of the things set to start our program. I was also able to help him with other issues he is dealing with and I got him to commit to a discipline program, and I joined with him and started it again as well. It's pretty simple. for 30 days: Get up every morning by 0500 Do 100 Squats, 100 sit ups, 100 push ups ( or as many as you can with the goal of completion) The a cold Shower Drink at least 4 l of water a day. Make a to do list every night with 5 things to accomplish the next day, and do not go to bed until they are completed. For him : No Soda or Alcohol for 30 days For me: no more than 2 cups of coffee a day I am stoked. I had completed my Discipline challenge just 3 week ago, and was still mostly doing it, but my friend saying he wanted to get more discipline in his life was like a big neon sign in front of me. I just finished a 30 day program to try and do the same thing in my life and I had been telling myself to do. it again, but was vacillating. Bam a friend in need and here I go again! Positive outlook, positive changes. So I guess Arthur Ashe had it right " Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome." The outcome will be there but if I don't abandon the journey, it is just perpetually in process and there I can grow. I am thankful that I am able to help my friend and see that Collecting underpants does come in handy. TANSTAAFL!
  3. Well I posted in the Newbie thread for my challenge goals. Thanks for the positive nudge.
  4. It's just a step to the left! That's right this is the start of my time warp back to where I should have stayed! Main Goal: Begin progress toward fitness levels to start doing things I used to do again. Start doing things I used to do that I can at current fitness level, no putting off living. Goals for 4 weeks Fitness Get into the gym weight training 4 days a week ( Follow pre-planned work out major muscle group exercises) Continue to swim 4 days a week (Keep working on number of laps for overall time in pool) Eat clean, 5 days a week clean ( 7 for bonus power up)- Eating Keto diet, and start being Paleo lite. Lifestyle Go to two live performances, or perform myself ( karaoke counts) Travel to at least two different parts of the country. Complete PADI re-cert, so I can start diving again. ( complete online course and schedule pool sessions as available by instructor) I have already started on these, as I meant to get this all down last week, but was busy with work and getting ready for some of the things I already accomplished. I made it to a different province this past weekend with a trip to Fujairah, and it was great. helped a friend move and had some fun exploring a new town. I also went to Dubai Opera with a friend last night for Don Giovanni with my friend Thea and it was also fantastic. Attached is a picture of us In the Opera house at our seats 2 mins before up curtain.
  5. Well, I have been working out and eating much better since I came back from a fantastic vacation in Amsterdam in July. I had such a great time, and was just annoyed at how tired I was at the end of each day from walking around. I had talked to my wife about all the places I had been in my life and all of the places I still wanted to go, and had actually made the comment that I doubt I will make it to them because I am so out of condition. Well I have had a dream most of my life that if I had a Magic lamp and got a wish, that it would be to be able to make my body into any condition I wanted overnight. Funny I never thought that that condition would be flabby and weak. Well we all have the ability to make our bodies what we want, and I am going to change mine. I just went over the Mindset of the Big Why. It is also on my character page, I am tired of being a Use d to. I want to be a Doer again. I used to climb mountains, I used to shoot rapids in a canoe, I used to dive deep into the ocean. I need that back. I need the things that made me who I am again. I am only in my mid 40's and I look back over the last 15 years and look at what I let myself become, and what I stopped doing and why. Enough. I will no longer compromise with the time I have left and wait until later to do the things I want to do, and it starts with being strong enough to do those things. Thanks for reading this far if you did. I am hoping I can help others and get help in return.
