  1. A great tip I heard recently, in regards to communication with the spouse: if talking face to face leads to fights, try going to different rooms and leave each other voicemails. That way they (and you) HAVE to listen. Emotions stay down and hostility doesn't erupt. You can't argue or fight with a voicemail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. It's not something you'll regret. Yeah, there are people who get hurt, but in my opinion it's because they push themselves past their capabilities. If you're smart about it you're extremely unlikely to get seriously hurt. And they're so much fun. I honestly can't say enough good things about them.
  3. The object is to finish the race, not win it. (Although you can certainly try.. Lol). All you need to finish these races is heart (because they let you do burpees if you can't complete an obstacle). There was a 300+ lbs grandma who finished the race, it just took her longer. You can do it for sure Although I certainly understand the desire to be an absolute beast when race day comes around. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Update: Not actually meditating, but at the same time I'm more centered and mindful and "in the present" so I guess this is a win? My trainer is determined to break me. Because I'm a Spartan. Lol. So I'll definitely be a beast come race day. And he's been a MAJOR help in rehabbing my shoulders. Like, I can move my arms again. Almost 100% pain free. Diet: I'm eating more carbs than I want, especially at night, but I'm almost eating a metric ****ton of fruits and veggies, and lost 5lbs in 2 weeks. I am now below 180 again (but just barely) No luck with the Race Team though. Looks like I might be running solo. Which is cool. I'm pretty sure it disqualifies me from running the Death Race, but I can still do the Trifecta. And I'll get to really push myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I've been on the DL for a while, but here's the 411. My work schedule makes it HARD to workout while in camp. But this week I've been home, so I had 2 sessions with my trainer and I am SORE. I've missed this feeling of power that comes from exhaustion and DOMS. And I figured out why my trainer tortures me so much. This is almost a verbatim quote "You're the only athlete on my client list. I must break you!" So basically I like the guy. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You're doing great girlie remember the kids fable about the turtle and the rabbit? Slow and STEADY wins the race. just keep plugging away and one day you'll look back and say "WOW! Look how far I've come!" Keep being awesome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Update: No progress. Too tired/not enough time to workout. I do some push ups and squats every now and then, but not enough to do anything useful. I'm just so tired and there's so little time outside of work. I'm sure part of my problem is nutrition and the other part is sleep (or lack thereof). But I'm doing the best I can. My career is not conducive to a proper healthy lifestyle. No meditation. I just sleep on the bus. That's the only sleep I can get lately ( because the guy who had the room next to me is the type of dude who needs to be hugged. About the neck and face. By a boa constrictor. Keeps his tv too loud to sleep until midnight and his alarm blasts at 3 and the. He's banging around. Work happened. No luck on the Spartan team though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Congratulations on the new kettle bell. That story put a big grin on my face Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Church is taking a sick-day. I'm not SUPER sick, but if there's one thing I've learned in 5 years working construction, it's that if you nip an illness early your life is more pleasant all around. Work sucks anyway, who wants to do that sick? Then the illness gets worse instead of better and gets prolonged into days-off. So sure I'm missing out on a days pay, but the benefits outweigh the cost, in my mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Quick update while I actually have Internet/cell service: No workouts this shift. Thank goodness I've been spending my days climbing ladders, scaffold and steel and hauling rigging around. No formal workouts though. Meditation is kind of happening. I guess. Or I could just be dozing for 2 hours per day on the bus. I'm not really sure. Diet is an free for all. Today I cut out most of the bad habits though. Just hit chocolate can tempt me now when I'm stupid-cold. Like I mentioned above: Internet/cell reception is spotty at best, so I apologize for not keeping better tabs in you guys I understand I'm up here to work, but a little consideration for my life would be nice. Because if the way they schedule work, the kitchen, etc. my day looks like this: wake up at around 4, pack lunch, get on bus, 1 hour ride to work, work 11 hours, 1 hour ride home, eat, shower relaxing in bed by 8:30 or so. I'm getting so sick of my line of work. Thank goodness I have a few other pokers in the fire. Hopefully one of them pans out for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. So basically I'm grown to hate my career. The gym at this new camp is basically nonexistent, the kitchen only serves food for 1 hour after we get back to camp, and I'm sick of being cold all the damn time. So basically. No progress. Except meditating. I have 2 hours of bus riding a day where I kind of sleep, kind of meditate. Diet: I basically shovel down whatever food I can get. I eat fruits and veggies during the day, but supper is basically a carby free-for-all. The only saving grace is that, lately, I spend my days climbing through steel and hauling rigging around. No formal workout though > Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I'm in no condition to do it either. Lol. I haven't had a decent workout in months, and lately my only exercise comes at work. They're so much fun though. And since you're not racing against anyone, you can go at whatever pace you need to. Really, the only way to fail is to quit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Is it possible that you don't feel confident in your accomplishments? Because I think you're awesome, and I know you've come a long way towards mastering all the things. But maybe you still feel inadequate? Like if you talk about your accomplishments your friends will say "Wait. You had to work towards that...?" Cuz that factors into it for me. I know intellectually that (even though I'm not currently at my peak) I can do things that most others can't, but I still feel like a noobie on his first training day. Like I've accomplished nothing and EVERYONE is more advanced than me. Just a though. Oh, don't forget to keep being awesome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. It'll probably help to accompany the slogan with pictures of guys (with "excessive" body hair) whom women would actually want to see shirtless... Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. So far it's all good. Little cold, but no cramped ninja stuff Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Holy moly! Look at all the collectables..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I'll second this motion. Right down to the angel wings and shame. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. @alienjenn: thank you. I'm hoping to have 3 more medals and a trifecta medal to go on there by next fall. @Elastigirl: lol. I bet you have plenty of awesome stuff that you just don't think about anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. That's been my experience as well. Waxing isn't necessarily the only way to go, but there's no getting around the fact that you need someone else to do it for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Monday update: Had an appointment with my trainer yesterday and he tweaked my form on Squats and Dead Lifts. I AM IN PAIN!!!! I'm sore in muscles I swear I didn't use. I LOVE IT!!!! And he had me do 1000m on the rowing machine. Official time is 1018m in 3:58 Church is BACK! So today is a recovery day, as I'm traveling up to a new camp, so I'll begin a workout tomorrow after I've explored and got my bearings. As for goal 4: I've listed, in my phone, the three races I'm going to do; Sprint, Super, and Beast. This week I'll begin looking for a team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. News/update: Worked with my trainer today for a real workout, as opposed to a consultation/measurement day. I've been doing push ups with perfect form, and now I can say the same for squats and dead lifts. We spent about 20 minutes a piece on form and now I'm 100% confident that, not only will I NOT get hurt, but the only limiting factor to my squats and dead lifts will be my strength. BOOYAH! And I nearly died on the rowing machine. Turned it all the way up and managed 1000m in under 4 minutes. I don't know the exact time, but by the time the thing spooked down and came to a stop I had managed 1018m in 3:58 CHURCH IS BACK!!!! AH-ROO! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
