  1. I'm taking a non-challenge this round. I did get the results I aimed for last challenge, but I didn't feel them, as in, it wasn't fun and I just felt drained and, well, not as good as I think I should have felt reaching my goal. So I will try to continue my cardio and my body weight exercises (I'm up to 50 each a day now! ) but I'm going back to basic clean eating. I felt generally better before I set hard-line-limits on myself like that. So I probably won't have any sort of check ins until next challenge.
  2. Today I weighed in at 0.2 # below the barrier mark separating a clinically obese BMI with severely overweight! I'm officially at 29.7 BMI!! And it's the lightest I've weighed since at least 8th grade (I was always a pudgy kid and avoided scales, but I had to to that Presidential Fitness Test and they weighed everyone. I think the next time I went on a scale I was 19 or 20). Also just got my first new car (from a dealership and everything!), so I had a really good weekend and just had to toot my horn
  3. Round 2 Plan of action attack my eating more Stretch the legs with yoga (I noticed some vericose veins behind a knee so I'm gonna take it easy with squats) Pump the juices with more cardio
  4. Alright-alright-alright! I'm feeling Pre-tty cocky about the last challenge. Had a bump or two, and then a not-bump, but not bad overall. Now hubby and I are eating at a level 7 or 8 (I'm still working on whittling down the case of rockstars in our pantry, so I guess that level-3 goal was technically unmet, but we've nixed not-fruit sugars (again, other than the rockstars), no pastas or breads in the house at all. Meals are either salad or steamed veggies and baked or grilled meats (eggs and/or fruit for breakfast). And I'm on track with working out every day (Plus 100 squats a day!! Workin on my Chun-Li quads!) So I'm feelin like I kinda rocked this last challenge
  5. I am! Other than forgetting to check in . . . Thanks Hubby is still very gung-ho about high protein-low carb eatings! So we've already been eating at pretty much level 7 and 8 the last 2 weeks; minus the dairy (mostly in his coffees) and my now-and-then rockstar. I know! I know! One of the worst of the worst. But, hubby used to drink 3 or so a day to get through a drive. And he's just dropped them completely (he's like that, he can go cold turkey on anything and I haven't seen it fail yet. Me, I need the transitions.). But now he's drinking 4 cups of our home-[quad-espresso]-coffee, and we have a pretty cheap espresso maker that makes one cup at a time, then you have to let the machine "rest" for a couple hours before brewing another. So if I forgot to prep any the night before, I'll make the morning one for him and either make me a green tea, or if I'm having a zombie morning, I'll grab a rockstar. I'm about halfway through a case now Otherwise, eats-wise, I did go to "lady's game night" with a coworker, which is basically a bunch of old ladies throwing dice from about 6 to 10 pm. And they cook and eat So that night I did break away from paleo for a meal, had pasta salad, pulled pork sandwich and this amazing not-ambrosia-but-still-fruit-salad-with-some-kind-of-sweet-cream-substance, and chex mix and a couple fun-sized candies and some BBQ lays chips. It bumped me back up a pound, but I argue it was worth it. The one thing I got hung up on was that pasta salad. Oh and deviled eggs. Had like 4 of those. But that doesn't feel like a "speed bump" or anything guilty. That was fun-times with ma' gals Way more fun than I originally planned on having. And I was able to go right back to meat and veg's no problem from then on. And with the squats: I am on point! I have done 2300 squats this month as of today! (with variations, not standard squats, but still . . .) Still have a week to go! I feel like I'm entering Street Figheter II level quads (but I'm probably really still on 1, no shadow and all).
  6. As far as I know, as long as it ends in jpg, it's always been able to upload for me. If you're on your phone, are you using tapatalk or going through the nerdfitness website?
  7. Oops, double posted, oh well, I'll use this for the next update:
  8. Oops, half way through the challenge and no updates :/ Well I think I'm doing good. I've met the 100 squat challenge daily so far. I've done at least half an hour of exercises everyday except rest/ stretch days. I'm already a couple pounds down ! and hubby seems to really be on board this time! Unfortunately it's because he's awfully sick and couldn't stomach much. But he says it's a perfect time to start a diet, and he's starting to feel better and is still at it. The hard part for him will be when he's back on the road . . . Anyway, me=good and feelin like (I can block anything this guy's throwin easy-peasy) Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
  9. Already skimped my challenge. Hubby was passing through the next town over so I met him for dinner and I guess got caught up in a Malt-Shop-Romance moment. So when he ordered a strawberry lemonade soda to share, I slurped half of it up before remembering my challenge. Sooo, took a hit, but it's early yet
  10. As for "THE PLAN," yes I'm a tad late, but I've already got it in action. One of my favorite youtubers is starting a "100 squats everyday" challenge for June. So, Chun Li turns out to be a very apt challenge allegory here, Especially against Birdie! Love it when stuff fits like that Anyway: As stated, unhealthy food is my primary obstacle here. I will avoid eating like Birdie by bulk-cooking (or rather, having hubby cook for me because he's been home almost every weekend) and having a full supply of healthy eats always available in the house. I will definitely avoid sugared drinks (k, Tuesday I only had 4 hours sleep so I did Rockstar it up to meet a friend at the gym). I will aim for level 4 meals, but this will be more of a bonus until next round. I will be on level 3 minimum: no sugary drinks (juices and I've cut from regular silk to unsweetened). Next round maybe I will alter my morning routine to get to black coffee, as I usually spend the first hour just sitting and sipping. And I will ALWAYS keep snacks in form of fruits and nuts in my bag for grab-and-go eats. I will do 100 squats every day for the month of June, and I may have a regular gym buddy She's lost 120#s herself, so just working out with her is major motivation, and she's a single mom on top of that, makes it easier to kick my ass in gear. And I actually really liked the gym. It wasn't awkward or weird or degrading like I always thought it was. Mind, I was a bit preoccupied with trying to keep form and do the work to really look at what others were doing (that girl kicked my a$$ and it was so fun!). And I'm getting side tracked and this is still way less formally laid out than I intended, but that's it. Prep for healthy options to avoid grabbing crap to eat. do something physical every day keep track of it
  11. Well, yes and no. Everyone is "trying to be healthier for swimsuit season" but some of them will bring sweets to work because if they don't want to be "cheating" alone, while one particularly culinary-talented coworker has a tendency to stress bake and share, and she's had a lot to stress over lately . . . So I'm basically trying to stay out of the break room. There is a mini catacomb of rooms behind the break room, so I've been hiding in one of those for lunch.
  12. I like your sense of adventure, but would not recommend. Unfortunately, I don't. At home it's not too bad, because I do keep the kitchen stocked with fruits and nuts and healthy(er) snacks. My big issue is at work. It's a big food-sharing environment (which I LOVE) and someone will regularly get cookies or chips or donuts to share with everyone. And if I'm all tapped out of snacks and lunch, I know there's always junk food in the break room to grab. I'm just pretty terrible at food prep as is I am actually lactose sensitive, so by "cream" I mean probably coconut or almond silk. Or some non-dairy creamer that happens to be there. And I usually use honey as a sweetener because I just really like honey, but I do use a lot of both. I'm going to try to cut down this week for sure, eventually, maybe, work my way to black. Oh, but my morning coffee is actually a quad espresso. I know I need to cut back on this too, but that might be a bit too much for me to cold turkey right now.
  13. Cuz who doesn't want Chun-Li quads?! In this challenge I will be battling poor food habits, as in, not prepping, so I prep. Frankly, a lot will be just having quick-grab-and-go healthy options. I've not had issues lately with craving unhealthy foods, but it's just there, and I should have made a bigger salad, but I didn't, so I eat what's there. Tracking: I am using the lose it app on my phone. But for each thing that if I get hungry and I have something healthy that I brought, I will give myself a star. At the end of the challenge, for every star I have, maybe that's how many dollars I can spend on some shoes, or a shirt, or I dunno, still working it out. Active: I'm still going to try to continue doing something (anything) every day from my last challenge. If I can actually go every single day, something else goodly will happen. Also thinking I might start on the paleo levels. If I do, I'm starting level 3. I'm already mostly good there, but I like juice and creamer in my coffee. Again, still all in planning phases . . . .
  14. Well, that's the end of the challenge I suppose. I've started using the lose it app to help keep track of my eats and visually see where my calories and macros are coming from, which itself has made me think more about what I eat and how far my food will take me through the day. I've noticed that I don't really get junk food cravings like I expected. In fact, if I do have that cookie or donut, I don't enjoy it. They just don't taste as good as my brain thinks it will, and I end up craving some kind of fruit after anyway. (Or dark chocolates. I'll never not like dark chocolates! I digress,) My issue is being too lazy to plan my meals, which I already know and expected. I've tried to keep some quick snacks and meals to go, but I guess I'm still working on watching portions, because what I've been bringing still leaves me hungry. So I'll have to work on quick and filling healthy foods. I have missed a few days of workouts, but they seem to mostly be due to either lack of sleep the previous night because puppy is still learning our schedule, or hubby is home. He's so warm and snuggly, I don't wanna get out of bed. Plus, even after 8 years, I'm still self conscious working out in front of him. Either way, it's a pattern I should figure out a contingency plan for. All in all, my challenge this round was to basically show up. I didn't get 100% but kept more consistent than I expected
  15. Friday Workout 20 minutes of youtube vids Food: Breakfast: Lunch: Tuna taco Dinner: Salad qwith strawberries Plus 2 red velvet cookies and almonds for snacks Saturday: Hubby came home, and it was his birthday, so I didn't track so much. Don't think I did any exercise Food: Breakfast: I know I had coffee and banana Lunch: Brought a Cesar salad kit that I added an apple to. I think I had some popcorn too. Dinner: We went to Denny's because it was late and not much else was open. I had a crazy spicy skillet with eggs, which carried over to breakfast the next morning Pretty sure we had ice cream that evening too. I would've had lactaid chocolate mocha almond Sunday Food Know I had crazy spicy skillet leftovers for breakfast, and steak for dinner. Anything in between, I forget. No exercise Monday Workout Did 20 minutes of youtube vids Food: Breakfast was toast with butter and South Carolinan peach jam P: Lunch was a sandwich with black forest ham Had one of hubby's Atkins protein shakes post exercise Dinner: we got a sam's club rotisserie chicken, put that in naan with some avocado and goat cheese P; and had ice cream for dessert
  16. I actually really liked the gym. I just pictured a bunch of machines I don't know how to use unless I paid some crazy premium to have someone show me. But it was really pretty inherently standardized and structured. And I got to watch the Vegas Knights game on the treadmill's little personal TV! (yay for temptation bundling!) But it did make me feel a tad inadequate, only because I'm usually a kind of person that can do some kind of steady pace for days. But with my meds, I'm still getting dizzy spells with exertion. Something the dr said will go away as my body acclimates to the lower bp, but I wish I knew how long that would be. So we didn't do all that much. Walked for a bit, then did some leg machines. As for Thursday: Did 2 10 minute butt videos from go-to youtube pilates channel so far. But just some low impact because puppy and pretzel kept me up late (again) and woke me up early (again) Also got up to 15 under-table-pull-ups in sets of 5, did Food Had coffee and apple with Peanut Butter for breakfast, and a rockstar, because above. Lunch was a pre-made quinoa salad with artichoke and palm something from Walmart that was awesome! And a tuna taco for dinner because I'm avoiding grocery shopping
  17. I, too, have not done this. I am Mrs. Nomar, formerly Alis in Abernathy, formerly (I think) Missy Nomar (I do have a terrible habit of changing names until I forget . . . . usernames too). I've been around near a year now, but seem to have issues with commitments, so I'm happy to remain Rebel.
  18. Wednesday I did the pup-pilates video again this morning, and another abs video from the same youtube channel. It was low impact, but still difficult and left me sore. Food I had coffee and banana for breakfast, and some almonds for a snack Lunch was a chickarina progresso soup I'm still not sure what I'll have for dinner. Hubby was able to come home again last night (yay!) (I think they might be putting him on a dedicated route in the area so he can be home more. Again, they must really like him ) But I had only cooked enough for chicken me for the week, and I'm 5'2," . . . and he's 6'something . . . so no more chicken. not really all that hungry, and was too tired to cook anything anyhow. I had a sweet potato with butter and honey. Only consumed 995 calories today though (oops ) I have been invited to the gym after work by a coworker. This will be my first time ever stepping foot in an actual, established gym. Except for when I had gym class in school I guess. She has agreed to let me creepily shadow her until I get a feel for it Oh, and hubby says he'll be back for sure in a couple of days because he has a "reset" coming up because his hours are running out. So, more yay!
  19. lol, I have been getting outvoted by them a lot lately. But they're so cute, I can't be mad about it. And thanks, my husband has been getting a lot of home time lately and he's even been granted his request to not have to take truck loads into a state with very tough trucking regulations. I don't know what he's doing, but they must really like him
  20. Tuesday: Got up at 4 am because that's when the new puppy decided it was play time, which Pretzel was fully on board for, whether I liked it or not. So had time to adjust and re-did that Betty Rocker Day 1 video. Sill plan to work on OPM workout tonight. --feeling good today, kinda tired, but not so groggy, despite to 4am wake up call Food: Had coffee, apple and most of a banana for breakfast (Pretzel also likes banana and was too quick for me to fend off first thing AM, got a chunk for her breakfast as well). Brought some taco makins for lunch (chicken, salsa, lettuce, corn tortillas and sweet bell peppers) plus, brought almonds to snack on. *I feel so prepared * Then I had boss's birthday cake . . . it was tres leches P: Was still kinda full for dinner, just had a salad.
  21. Sunday: Forgot the actual numbers, but I think I got up to 20 each of sit and push ups and squats. I wanna say I did like 12 under-table pull ups. Food: Coffee for breakfast, made an egg and cheese sandwich for Brunchy meal Dinner was badly fried (came out more smooshy) zucchini "fries" and microwave-steamed broccoli (also not as crisp as I hoped) and a slice of tri-tip with cran-cherry juice. And a scoop of ice cream for dessert. Monday: Hubby was able to come home late Sunday night because he had a load passing through town So he arranged to take his 10 hour break home last night and he didn't have to go again until the afternoon! So I skimped exercise today in favor of relaxing with him. Food: Regular coffee and a nature valley bar. Lunch was a splerge, asp expected, because hubby is home. We split a "Belly Buster Burger" from the gas station down the road (it's one of those semi-travel stores with a restaurant attached), with fried potato curls. Was still pretty full for dinner so just had a microwaved sweet potato
  22. My doc did confirm that it is a common side effect of my medication and that I'll feel "off" until my body gets used to having a normal bp (it was crazy high for at least a decade). All my other blood work seems normal. He did recommend to just keep exercising and the dopamine release should normalize my energy. I have been feeling better the last couple days, until we got the puppy, who we're still trying to get to stay asleep for a full night. Thank you though. Didn't think anyone was actually following this, so please excuse any previous internal dialogue portions.
  23. Saturday: Still tired, puppy kept me up, and Pretzel was whining because she kept wanting to check on the puppy. No cardio. I'm planning to work on push ups, sit ups, squats and under-table-pull-ups, because I can't pull up yet. Food Had morning coffee, a banana and nature valley bar for breakfast. Also got some work coffee with creamer Brought chicken soup for lunch, which I'll fluff up with leftover veggies And an apple snack Dinner will be tri tip, and maybe a zucchini. I could eat a zucchini.
  24. Friday: Skipped running because Pretzel was way to preoccupied with her new puppy! Also didn't sleep as well as usual because the new puppy is way more vocal than Pretzel was at that age and cried and whimpered all night! and yet, still had energy to run around with Pretzel first thing in the morning! So, I was too tired to tempt Pretzel with a w/og this morning anyhow. But I will say, I do miss it. So that's a major checkpoint on my journey, when I get comfortable enough with an exercise I miss it when I skip it, even if I can't muster the energy for it. Maybe I'll do something on my lunch today, or tonight, . . . I'll post about it later. Food: I ate a banana and Nature Valley bar for breakfast. Brought an apple and Lentil Progresso soup for lunch Had some leftover tri tip for dinner, but with veggies this time, and some wine, but I only drank 2 gulps before the sleepies hit. Oh, and a bowl of cereal for dessert
  25. Wednesday Workout Skipped the run because hubby is home and will want to nap with Pretzel, but she won't be allowed in bed if she's all dusty and dirted. We did, however, do a Pup-pilates routine from one of my favorite youtube "digital trainters," but Pretzel, bein a lil 'Daddy's Puppy' got a little too distracted with hubby about halfway through and made me finish it by myself (I've gotten so spoiled for her attentions!) Also did my work-up-to-OPM circuit, which I will find a better name for. Food: Coffee. Breakfast I ate a Nature Valley bar . . . I probably had a lot of co-worker's desk candy as well. Rockstar was definitely involved. Had an apple and a Del Taco Shrimp burrito for lunch because hubby spoils me when he's home. Dinner was salmon and salad (which is our go-to decadent "celebrate because he's back" meal. Thursday Workout Tried to go out for our w/og (walk/jog). But Pretzel was very curious this morning and stopped and sniffed a lot. But I ran into this the other day, and started just doing squats every time she stopped for a sniff, until my hamstrings started crying then I started doing butt kicks. We didn't go very far today, but I still feel like I at least did something. I intend to practice OPM-ing this evening Food: Coffee. Ate a banana and a nature valley bar for breakfast, also poured another cup of standard-brewed coffee from work with some delightful italian creamer someone brought. Brought makins for a tuna melt for lunch (bread, tuna, cheddar, mustard), plus some fruit for a snack. Dinner will be tri tip (which was roasting in a crockpot with a chunk of rosemary overnight, I am so excited!) I did have half a pint of Open Nature cashew milk caramel cluster ice cream
