  1. Dang. That's cool. Good luck on the workouts! and quitting smoking. That's quite the challenge right there...
  2. Good luck! Girl scout cookies? I can relate, I did that for a week. Not one bit of guilt, but I don't think I ever want to see another one again... I know that I and several other members of the forum are doing are best to cut out sugar, carbs and other evil things...you're more than welcome to commiserate with us on the cravings for sugar. Or just ignore the cravings and do some sort of workout or keep yourself busy
  3. Welcome to the rebellion! If you're having issues with all of that, what does your diet look like? Do you do any sort of supplements with vitamin D or the like?
  4. Ah, yes, the good ol' fitness industry...or not so good perhaps. I was catching up on twitter and a couple people I follow linked to these (they might help)... http://reversemagazine.blogspot.com/2011/02/woman-are-wrong-about-fat-loss-and.html http://www.mensjournal.com/everything-you-know-about-fitness-is-a-lie/
  5. Good to have you here. Good luck on the goals
  6. Dying of laughter here...though I read it and wondered who actually bought low-fat peanut butter. Isn't that an oxymoron? Thanks for letting us know, but my peanut butter is sitting in the trash can since it isn't quite on the approved foods list for primal blueprint...
  7. I love the sticker idea! Though I dunno, I almost like the idea of 1-up mushrooms as much as 8 bit hearts When are you moving to Seattle? So with this whole food tracking thing, what are you going for? Following any sort of diet plan? Final goal?
  8. It'll be fun! Don't worry, after the stairs of doom (seriously, I saw what you were doing and was quite impressed) anything will be easy What are you changing from going from slow carb to paleo? Any particular reason for the switch?
  9. Welcome to the boards...and dang, I am impressed. March looks like it'll just be "Cut the carbs already!" month. It seems like everyone is doing it Good luck!
  10. I love the declutter stage 1, 2 and 3. I'm going to have to borrow that Good luck!
  11. Isn't it a great feeling? Good job!
  12. Yeah, nothing like sugar and carbs to destroy your life...I love the idea of re-labeling it So I made it back from the grocery store and success! No bad things! I even put back my favorite dark chocolate after finding out that the primary ingredient (should I be surprised?) is sugar. The only problem with discovering these new and improved shopping skills is reading ingredient labels and discovering almost everything has sugar, wheat, caramel coloring, or natural flavors. Seriously? I want to eat food that isn't out to poison or kill me, or give me a better chance (like it's a good thing *rolls eyes*) a stroke or alzheimers. I'm happy I survived my shopping trip, and made it back with actual food (well, if you saw the difference between what I bought last week and this week you would be amazed). Dark chocolate without sugar as the main ingredient. Some blue cheese, heavy cream, yogurt (not a lot, but I'm curious to see how I'll handle it -- it's a test), lots of steak and eggs (over 3 pounds of meat!), veggies, and a bottle of malbec that's supposed to be incredible or something. At least it's better than beer as far as carbs go Oh, and blueberries for when I'm craving something sweet. Much better than my previous habit of peanut butter cups or some m & m's... Now I just have to remember that when I'm bored and have this idea I *have* to snack on something, I get to do pushups or swings or something instead. I don't think I'm quite up to the epicly awesome 10,000 swings in a month challenge that elasticgirl is doing (that's 300 something a day), but maybe next challenge
  13. Good luck on the goals... Cutting stuff out is hard. It looks like there's a number of us going through some sort of cutting phase...solidarity in numbers
  14. Welcome! Don't worry, this is the place to get encouragement and get into shape! Um, the whole geek vs nerd thing can get ugly. I have been told that geeks don't know how to fight, and nerds can hold their own, so I guess I'll go with that I used to think I was a geek, and then really looked at my hobbies and really, I was a nerd...don't worry, it's an easy slope to fall down
  15. Welcome to the rebellion I'm going to have to follow along with watch your diet and see how it goes. I can speak from personal experience that wheat just makes my sinuses/breathing worse, and I don't have any chronic medical issues like you do
  16. If that's the case, I would suggest updating your goals with what you expect in terms of a workout after you read the book...
  17. Good luck on your goals. I know that I'm going about 90% primal this month (my trainer sort of saw to that)... What does consistent look like to you in terms of strength training? Are we talking 4-5 times a week, a certain number of reps, etc...
  18. Any strategies you can use to not eat after dinner? Is there anything you tend to do activity/emotion/boredom that you do that you can change? I know for me that boredom and laziness are a double combo of trouble when it comes to overeating in the evening (okay, I'll just call my case gluttony) and something I've been trying to change. Good luck
  19. Ah, a fellow kettlebell user. Welcome to the board 10,000 swings is a lot. Depending on how bad I eat, I might get up there And don't worry too much about rambling, I'm definitely guilty of that...
  20. Welcome to the boards...good luck on the goals
  21. Yes, it's crazy what kids do for fun I remember thinking that I had done it as a kid, it couldn't be that hard, but I really fail at it too. @Glenndingo, do you think it's better or worse than running?
  22. Ah yes, the warrior dash. I'm signed up too! (though it's in July) Let me know how it works with the vibrams, I have a pair I was thinking of using... Have you been building up to the pushup/pullup numbers, or is this a new goal? Good luck!
  23. Sleep can be hard...what strategies do you have to get on that schedule? I have an alarm clock on the other side of the room that doesn't go into snooze mode. And it's loud!
  24. Good luck on the goals. Hope your dad is feeling better... May I suggest mint.com for credit card tracking? It's online, syncs to an iphone app if you have one, and makes it a lot easier to see your overall financial situation.
