  1. Yes, but even if you update ever day, there's still the possibility of ending up on page 2...or 3, or 4. It's awesome to see so many people taking the challenge! And that's quite the workout. I think the crossfit one would kill me...good job!
  2. Agreed. It's getting boring around here without the motivational whip and pom-poms...
  3. A spezzy WoD would be scary...but I'm sure it would be fun
  4. I do it 2-3 times a week. I actually like it now, though the first couple weeks weren't a lot of fun...headaches, crabby, nausea, and vertigo at times... I like eat-stop-eat the best, leangains.com also has another method (though I'm not hardcore enough to do 16 fast / 8 hour eat window every day). I stop eating after dinner, then wait till the next dinner to start eating (22-24hour fast). I usually workout right before the following dinner (fasted training is awesome!). I've found that for me, it's easier to fast if I do a high fat/high protein meal as my dinner before. I'll usually eat eggs and bacon and I'm never hungry during the fasting period.
  5. I was browsing on dragon door's forums and they were recommending this set of video's: http://www.coachkeats.com/?p=332 Maybe it'll help?
  6. I'm assuming if you're going for that ratio of carbs that you're okay with eating wheat/processed grains? If you're having any inflammation issues/allergies/problems losing weight you might think about doing paleo or primal blueprint. I know that I've had success with it, as have others (well, as long as I actually follow it). I think that it's mainly the gluten thing, which seems to inhibit my weight loss...
  7. Progress is also easier if broken up into a lot of little goals. This week I'm going to do X, this month I will do X, which leads to my end result. I always remind myself that no matter what, I need to do something!
  8. @^@%#@#$!^!%@#$@ agreed. This challenge sucks, but today is a new day, new opportunities and I'm here to kick your butt and tell you to work out *evil grin*. Oh wait. That's your job....I'd say you're doing awesome on the workouts, perhaps you just need to find something fitness wise that works for one hell of a f.a.s.t. class and your goals? Or you could just get up off the couch and do some pistols! Then some pullups! Till failure! If you can still move, you're not trying hard enough! Okay, maybe I'm not that good of a drill sergeant. Good luck
  9. Awesome! Good job all around, and congrats on the promotion...
  10. Thanks motherfitness So -- how's everyone doing? I have slight-moderate (hopefully not worse than that) shoulder pains/stiffness that are going to most likely cause me to baby a couple workouts this week depending on how things are feeling. Called a dr and have an appointment on monday. Hoping active release therapy is all it's supposed to be. If not, it's off for z-health, mri's, and an orthopedic surgeon...I'm currently almost pain free, but it's gone back and forth in the last two weeks. I don't think it's the swing days (going to do less of an arc for the swing just to be sure), but I'm going to back off to no weight on the getup days and focus on doing them while balancing a flip flop. I'm sure I could find a camera for everyone's enjoyment I'm also thinking about throwing out my scale. I've been more focused (well, maybe mentally occupied is a better term) on weight loss than just about anything else. I'm tired of focusing on something I have very little direct control over, so I think it's time for a break. I need my mental focus on workouts (pr's!) and prepping good food
  11. Good theory. I'll put it into practice for you +1 set (10 reps) from last workout (new PR!). Eliminated the last 2 minute break, so 12 sets of 10 swings at the top of every minute. Now I'm going to make that 11 per set. I should be able to hit 15-20 swings per minute if I increase the pace, though it's going to hurt for a while till I build up the stamina. Then I'm going to switch to snatches and the 'rite of passage' workout and work towards the US SS snatch test. That goal scares me. I don't know how to do 200 snatches in 10 minutes, but I'm going to figure it out and accomplish it!
  12. Glad to see you back. Hope everything is better Thanks! I'm gunning for another pr today...
  13. Awwwwww. Perhaps a vacation is in order? Seattle is quite nice during the summer. Very little rain (temps around 90), lower humidity than tropical locations, some beautiful mountains, and a warrior dash for something to do!
  14. Why the removal of goal #1? I understand different scales, but there shouldn't be that much of a difference... Hehehehehe. Good for you at doing something evil Though I'm not sure that shopping is as bad as you make it out to be. Shopping can be fun under the right circumstances, plans, and goals. Though with my current weight, the only thing I have fun with when shopping is electronics and home furnishings. Oh, and cookware! I could buy a williams-sonoma store lock, stock and barrel Isn't two weeks of clothes enough? Or buy another skirt or two and do some mixing and matching? Perhaps your sister-in-law will calm down? I doubt with your hatred of shopping that you'll give into her idea of what women are supposed to be, so I guess you just need to brainwash her into seeing your point of view *evil smirk* Good luck on the first day of work
  15. Cheesecake is a temptress who I hate, but absolutely love. Until the experience is over, the sugar high disappears, and I end up hating my scale *pouts* How's the workouts going at the new gym? You teach everyone who's boss yet?
  16. Washington! Gowaduv and I can represent the bearded members of the nerd fitness board. I think it's time to get around to ordering a t-shirt I'm not really sure why I'm doing it, but I guess I just need an awesome helmet. I should be below 300 by then, and I guess it's as good a reason as any to push myself in the workouts. Those nets...well, they don't look like any fun...and no skipping obstacles for me! I'm going to do it and destroy the competition. Well, maybe not the competition, but I can at least have fun and destroy my old self who would never in a million years do something like this
  17. Don't get me wrong, I would love for you to hit your goals , I'm just worried you're going to kill yourself in the progress...and true, there is no time for moderation with that ugly test. Good luck
  18. T-handle! Though I haven't used it, it's supposed to be pretty good. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/tim-ferriss-superhuman-kettlebell.htm
  19. Oh, my apartment is on the third floor. I'm working on it Yeah, arms are sort of a subset of abs. I know that I'll get the arms along with the abs and the rest of the body. Kettlebell workouts are nasty effective brutal things...
  20. Pulled from my challenge log. This is how I'm doing! Workout: Swing day. 11 sets of 10 in 12 minutes for a total rep count of 110. That's a new PR for the condensed time! (I've done 120 swings before, but it took me about 20 minutes). I've been working towards surviving a 12 minute swing session during this challenge, and have gone from about 75 reps in 7 minutes, to 90 reps in 10 minutes, to actually surviving all 12 minutes of torture. Now I just need to remove the one break and I'll hit my goal! By the way, I also made it without any grip issues. Cacophony, thanks for the suggestion about the suitcase style lift and hold. Really made a difference...
