  1. When my father visited one time and saw that I had The Doors records, he asked me if I was dropping acid...
  2. I seem to be fumbling a lot with this challenge but not in a very bad way. I am still going on daily walks and keeping up somewhat decent nutrition (mixed with some poor nutrition but in moderation). Weight is being maintained at a low level that I have never been too in quite some time. Body composition is changing for the better through measurements. Completely failing at the goals I had set but somehow not ruining myself or regressing into old ways. I'm going to have to go back and read some more NF articles and get pumped back up for a respawn. WIll put some more thought and structure into the next set of goals for sure.
  3. I just have to hop on here and share the success and importance of measuring your body not just by the scale. I have kind of needed a respawn because I was getting too comfortable moving back into some old habits (while maintaining new ones such as no liquid calories and walking). So I decided to measure my body for the 2nd time since I started NF. After about 60 days, I am down 20 pounds, took an inch off my neck, 4 inches off my chest, 2 inches off my waist and thighs, and actually gained 1.25 inches on my biceps. This absolutely reinvigorated me and is getting my ass back on track with the NF lifestyle. Not sure how often one should measure oneself but I have a spreadsheet built now ready to go to keep me motivated. Break out the fabric measuring tape folks!
  4. Well, we can be NF buddies so we have that going.
  5. No walking buddy for me. Moved to a new place and its damn near impossible to make new friends when you are 30. Don't have an app but that seems like it would be a good thing to have.
  6. Hello Folks, Here again for my second 4 week challenge here at Nerd Fitness. After a lot of thought, I still really don't fit into any specific guild lifestyle yet but the journey must continue so I am here with you fellow rebels in the journey of self improvement! Not a lot of thought has gone into what to say in this post so I'm just going to keep it simple with some continuing goals for the next 4 weeks. Nutrition -During and after my first 4 week challenge, I have begun to dabble in keeping track of all my nutrition intake using My Fitness Pal to get a better idea of how my food is actually working for me (taking notes on whats going on physically and what not). Id like to spend this next 4 weeks going in a little bit further with nutrition capturing and really dialing in my macros and establishing a method of eating that I can be really comfortable with so eventually move on and just eat good food and not worry about charts and graphs! So every single day this next 4 weeks, I will keep track of every drop that goes in and capture results (weight loss/measurements/exercise). -With the holiday season in full swing, one of my major goals will be to find alternatives to some of the holiday staples to keep myself on track without feeling like I'm missing out (is there a very good alternative to eggnog because I have kicked that stuff back every holiday?) In addition to this goal, I will share one of these holiday alternatives with the family to share this journey to wellness. Fitness -When I first started here at Nerd Fitness, I never really exercised on a schedule or that often to begin with. So when I started, I began with the first module in the academy. I will be decimating the first boss tomorrow (just did a 7.5 mile hike up at a 2k ft elevation so I'm resting today). Not sure what work will go into beating boss number 2. So this week, I will work on doing the workouts every other day consistently to build up my comfort with getting a routine down. -Increase the time of my daily walks to 30 minutes, even on rest days. Walking is good .
  7. I will most likely segway into the warrior guild for strength training but currently am not established quite yet enough for that lifestyle. I've been pretty adventurous lately and have been trying to get out and explore the world, hiking and such. So perhaps id fit into the Adventurer guild at this moment. This morning I am hanging out with me, myself and this cup of black coffee brainstorming about some good challenges for myself before Sunday!
  8. As a rule of thumb, every time I get paid, I "pay myself first", I put 10 percent away in savings right away. Pay my bills and the rest can be used for groceries and extras.
  9. I guess this counts here because my work contributes to it but my company made it to the top 100 wines of 2017 of the world according to Wine Spectator at number 25. Tons of hard work leads to something eventually. Not only that, we are the only California sparkling wine on the list! http://top100.winespectator.com/lists/
  10. Two eggs (usually jumbo) usually cooked in butter (hard to hit the fat macro target), whatever sort of veggie is lying around, and black coffee. I get fresh eggs from the farm daily so I'm a bit spoiled on that end. These yolks are natures gravy....just wipe up the plate with the veggies. Does it get boring? Hell no because veggies are delicious and is great nutrients to start the day.
  11. Well folks, I made it through my first 4 week challenge ever and it has been an amazing start to my life here at Nerd Fitness. The goals I had set were rather simple but I see that these small goals have added up into some impressive gains. When I first started taking my fitness and wellness very seriously about 50 days ago, I weighed in at a wopping 285 pounds. Still a somewhat strong dude since I spend my days as a farmer of sorts but when you don't take care of yourself outside of works, things tend to slide downhill. I really needed something so finding NF has been a blessing. After completing this 4 week challenge, I am now down to 262 pounds. Will be having some fun trying to get together the next set of challenges....still not quite sure what guild id fit into in my current stage of life but I will figure it out soon. Thanks for the check ups and comments ladies and gents. It was fun and I cant wait for more.
  12. Have to make sure the cast iron is seasoned and also that there is enough fat in the pan when you are cooking!
  13. Post hardcore-post punk-prog rock: some of the greatest modern music you'll hear today. Thrice, Circa Survive, Manchester Orchestra, O'Brother, Brand New, Coheed and Cambria.
  14. It was a 3 piece set from Aikok (german manufacturer). It didn't cost a hold lot of money and the general consensus seemed to be that it was a big wow factor for the price. Don't have to put any pressure to cut stuff...I know knives like that exist but I just haven't had one for the longest time so I was a bit surprised! Tears of joy were had...now I can finely chop things into the damn shapes I want. Can de-crown a head of broccoli in a fraction of a second. Many joyous days in the kitchen to come!
  15. Killing it. Got myself some loot earlier than the end of the challenge but I saw some stuff on sale on Amazon...got myself a kitchen scale and a real chef knife set. So I no longer have to cut with the dull piece of crap I have now. Bought some cheap vegetables the other day and had a field day on practicing my slice and dice skills. Still have all my fingers so that's good. Looking forward to start the next 4 weeks!
