  1. Yea he is going to keep on at me about eating healthier too. I have always liked anything sweet most of which is bad for you donuts, buns, cakes, I am cutting this down which is the easiest way that I will stick to. Had session today and covered 2.8 km mostly running. He has noticed I do recover quite fast after running. I did push myself today and glad I did. He is going to be setting me targets soon on an app that calculate how far you run. We have a 5k on Sunday which a few of us from the charity are running including my PT. So even tho we did sign up at different times it will be used to show us both what I can manage.
  2. To be honest I’m doing this as something to do and work towards. I have never been into fitness or running so just starting to get into it now. As for him as a PT he may not be the best I have no idea. I get on well with him he’s had a PT a few years back and regularly runs marathons now. Honestly if it wasn’t for this man offering to give me sessions I wouldn’t have started. So I’m not really bothered about every detail I would rather get doing running practice and exercise. He is doing it for free as I am a regular at the charity. I have told him some things I would like to aim towards being able to run 5 km then 10km as there is a 5km run this Sunday that a few of us from the charity are taking part in. I know I will be running some then walking some. In April the man who’s being my PT does a 10km run fun day for anyone to join in to mark anniversary of him getting brain injury to show how much progress he’s made. I am going to be joining in with that too. Not sure how much I’ll manage to run but will do as much as I can. Also one thing I have mentioned to him which may be part of reason for going on exercise bike is I heard that they were on about doing a cycling event in Ibiza sometime in future and I would like to give it a go. My PTs answer was I wouldn’t manage it at the minute as it means cycling most of day for a few days. So it may be something I work towards. i have also said I am going to walk the 3 Yorkshire peaks in July next year so working towards that. There is a few of us from the charity going to do it. My PT woman that works with him and a few men who attend the charity not many as most wouldn’t be able to walk that far.
  3. I have just started sessions with a personal trainer. Well I say started, a man who runs a brain injury charity I go to has passed personal training part 3 exam and offered to give me sessions. So we do know each other through me going to the charity. The woman who works with him has encouraged me to start practicing running. The man heard me on about it and offered to give me personal training sessions. Up to now I’ve had 2 around half hour sessions. First one last week was warm up on exercise bike followed by slow jogs of up to a minute round the building. Then back on exercise bike. Also did stretches before and after. Today was same with much longer slow jog with walking when I needed. Never thought I’d get into running but I am enjoying it. I would like to know how to increase time I can run for. Also what would be realistic session length? My PT says half hour as longer would be too much. I know with rests I could do longer. By rests i mean walking instead of running not actually sitting down resting. I have got him to agree to an hour session Thursday I think he’s only agreed cos I insist it won’t be too long and he knows it wouldn’t be worth me traveling there for less than an hour. So I have got to prove I can manage.
