  1. Huh. I could have sworn I replied to this already...but the tattoo is an awesome reward!!! I've always wanted one, but have never been brave enough. Grats on 100!!
  2. I want to do that. Also. MIR SMASH GOALS! RAWR!
  3. I like your head stand! I have always wanted a tatoo but was never brave enough to get one. That is an awesome reward!
  4. Waiting in giddy anticipation for the bathroom sink goal :D
  5. SOunds great! but the "get money" thing stuck in there looks like it was clipped from somewhere else and maybe you forgot to take that out? hehehe Yay can't wait to hear your progress!
  6. Yay!!! Way to go, I know you can do it all!
  7. Most Excellent reboot. Joo con DOO EET!
  8. Haikoo's Wet and Not So Wild Challenge Character Race: Half-Dryad Class: Ranger Age: 33 Height: 5'2.75" Weight: 127.1 lbs Stats: STR 3.5 | DEX 2.5 | STA 3.8 | CON 5.5 | WIS 4.8 | CHA 2.5 My Goals: 1. Rehab the shoulder (+1 STR, +2 CON) During my first challenge, I had to put all my push ups on hold because I managed to injure my rotator cuff while playing on the monkey bars with my kids. Since then, every time I try to do any above the shoulder exercise it hurts and gets re-injured. It's time to get it back! The Plan: Spend time at least 5 days every week doing stretches, mobility work and exercises geared toward getting my shoulder back to where it is supposed to be. 2. Eat MOAR of the plants and animals (+2 CON, +2 CHA) Last challenge I set out to change my diet and began eating paleo style. I got to about 85% paleo over the 6 weeks and this time I want to kick it up a notch and get to 90% paleo for 5 of the 6 weeks. One week during this challenge will be spent on vacation and I'm not going to stress myself by keeping insane track of ingredients. I have made huge strides in my eating and I know I will not go crazy eating yucky things during this vacation. I get have read mixed views on whether eating some dairy is considered paleo or if that moves me into the primal category, but I will be allowing small amounts of dairy. 3. Swim 100 yards in one shot (+2 STA, +2 STR, +1 DEX) This seems like a simple goal until you learn that I do not know how to swim. Technically, I *kind* of know how to swim. I know the mechanics of the back stroke and the front crawl. I have never swam more than 10 feet and never been in water above my head without a flotation device. During this challenge, Mr. Koo is going to teach me the breast stroke (as the front crawl makes the shoulder injury flare up) and I am going to swim 100 yards. It doesn't seem like much, but this terrifies me. Finished Sept 9! 125%! I swam 125 yards continuously using a very sloppy Elementary Backstroke and the regular backstroke. Woo hoo! 4. Break out of the C.H.A.O.S. (+2 CHA, +1 WIS) Anyone who has ever heard of the Flylady probably knows that C.H.A.O.S. stands for "Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome." We have never been perfect, but due to extenuating circumstances last January, our house got OUT.OF.CONTROL....and then it never got back. It needs to end. The goal is to get the house company ready (meaning all the main rooms and entry way are clean enough that I don't want to fall into a hole in the ground if someone stops over) and keep it that way through the challenge. It is about half way there, as we've done a lot of work this weekend. We will finish the rest within the next couple of days and keep it that way. I say we, because I can't do this one 100% on my own. There are 4 other people in this house, and you can bet I will be cracking the whip to get some help around here. Alright. Bring it on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile, I'll keep track of my food numbers right here: Week 1: 6 of 7 Week 2: Vacation Week 3: 6.25 of 7 Week 4: 5 of 7 Week 5: 6.75 of 7 Week 6: 6.2 of 7 Total: 86.3% paleo... And the shoulder session numbers here: Week 1: 5 of 5 Week 2: 1 of 5 (I really let this one get away from me on vaca, although I did do a lot of kayaking, so at least shoulders did get some exercise) Week 3: 4 of 5 Week 4: 4 of 5 Week 5: 4 of 5 Week 6: 3 of 5 Total: 70% of goal Mini Challenges: #1: Did 50 push ups(first time since I injured the shoulder). In sets of 10, spread through the day. +1 STR !
  9. May the Force be with you! I don't have a lot of good routine advice, but I'll be watching (well, probably literally on G+ )
  10. If you find the magic potion, let me know... I think sometimes women think it looks worse than it does, though. Mine is more than just a little flabby skin ...twin skin plus an annoying scar right under my belly button from an appendectomy. Some skin is not as elastic as others.
  11. Haikoo's 5-7-5 Challenge Character Race: Half-Dryad Class: Ranger Age: 33 Height: 5'2.75" Weight: 131 lbs Post Challenge Weight: 128 lbs I got as LOW as 126 (for 2 days?) during this challenge, hit 127 a few times, but seem to be hovering consistently around 128 now. Previous to challenge, I was NEVER below 130. Beginning Stats: STR: 3 DEX: 2 STA: 2 CON: 3 WIS: 3 CHA: 2 Goals: 5 for Fitness/Health: Eat Plants and Animals (+2 CON) *Follow a paleo diet for the whole 6 weeks. I will get one relax day where I can eat some other things (July 4th), but will not go overboard. This was probably my biggest success. It rang in having eaten roughly 85% paleo! And much of that was strict paleo (no sugar, legumes, very little dairy). This is the first time in my entire life I have been able to take control of my eating and I am amazed. It was hard. There were times in the first few weeks I had to be "talked off the ledge" because I wanted sugar so badly. Now, after these 6 weeks, I find I do want sugar sometimes--but not nearly as bad as I used to. I have let myself have something roughly once a week. Other times I just had a small square of really high cocoa dark chocolate. Also, I have cooked more meals these past 6 weeks that I probably ever have! Good, home cooked meals. The Well Fed cookbook has been awesome and has given me the confidence to actually COOK! Every recipe I try in it is delicious. We have OWNED our CSA box! We have thrown very little away this year. I'm so proud of that! We have also been buying as much grass fed/pasture raised/organic/cage free etc etc that we can. HUGE improvement all around. This particular goal led to a lot more than just "eat paleo" even though that's all I really set out to do. So at 85%, I earned + 1.7 CON Drink ALL the Water (+1 CON) *I am terrible about drinking water. I am lucky to get 2 cups a day on average. I am going to drink at least 8 cups every day! Tea can count in the total when I drink that. This one started out strong, but faltered a bit as time went on. I felt a lot better when I was drinking ALL the water, it's true. My daily aim will still be to drink a lot. In the end I only hit about 81% of my days. That earned me +.81 CON Run at least Once per Week (+1 Dex) *I keep saying I want to run more, so here I go. I may pick up Zombies, Run! to increase the fun factor. Due to heat and general life craziness, I only hit 50% here It was really difficult to fit it all in. Next time I will do better planning. Earned +.5 DEX Do ALL the Pushups (+2 STR) *I once began doing the 100 Pushups program then failed because I got the flu. This time, I'm doing it!! Early in Week 2, I injured my rotator cuff I can no longer do pushups. It is still not healing properly. I am working on stretches and exercises, also resting it as far as trying to do exercise movements that hurt. No points earned hear Get MOAR strong (+1 STR) *I will do this by sticking to the pushups, plus making sure I get to 1 yoga class per week, Turbokick, plus some added excercises as needed. These will come in the form of bodyweight exercises or possibly lifting heavy things. I am not sure how to judge myself here. I was not able to make yoga every week, but I did do Turbokick and other classes. I also spent time trying some new things. The biggest thing was, I deadlifted for the very first time!!! That one is a pretty big deal. Also box jumps for the first time. Also was trying handstands until my shoulder couldn't handle it. Looking back, this goal was just too vague. Due to my branching out to the new strenth training fun, I think I will go ahead and give myself half the point. +.5 STR 7 for My Brain: *I will compose at least 7 Haiku during my challenge. They don't have to be amazing, but just want to get writing a little bit again! (+2 WIS) I am disappointed with myself, here. This was one of my easiest goals and I screwed it up. I just wasn't feeling inspired I guess. I don't know. Only got 43% here. +.8 WIS 5 for Life: Find the Basement (+1 CHA) *Take ALL THE THINGS to the recycle/trash/donation places. They are mostly ready to go. TAKE THEM. Total Fail here, no points earned. Clean ALL THE THINGS (+1 STA) *Get back into some cleaning routines to keep on top of daily chores and laundry. *Keep the house in a state of at least halfway presentable most of the time. Huge fail here. No points earned Exercise the Family (+1 STA, +1 WIS) *Take the family out at least once per week to play or do something active. Complete win here! We managed to do something fun together every week and I am so glad we did! +1 STA, +1 WIS Find the Computer Desk (+1 CHA) *It's under here somewhere...I know it. I only got the desk about half way there. It looks a TON better, but still needs work. I did spend some good time on it, though. +.5 CHA Prepare for Bed (+1 STA) *No more falling into bed because I'm too tired/lazy to wash my face. Stick to bedtime routine! -Wash Face -FLOSS when I brush -Use my inhaler like I'm supposed to -Get into bed at least 7 hours before I have to get out I did pretty well on this. There were a few nights, and a few traveling hold ups that messed with my sleep. Over all, I hit about 83% of my nights with the full routine!! I have broken the cycle of laziness! +.8 STA Over all, I am still calling this (my very first challenge) a success. I'm learned I need to be slightly less ambitious with my goals to keep myself from being overwhelmed. I also learned that summer time keeps us REALLY busy, so I need to think about that when planning summer goals in the future. Also, due to diet I am feeling a lot better, plus lost a little bit of body fat in my belly area, I think (it's so hard to tell!) My shorts are all looser. Not to mention, I CAN COOKE!! So, still had successes. My new stats: STR: 3 +.5 = 3.5 DEX: 2+.5 = 2.5 STA: 2+1+.8 = 3.8 CON: 3+1.7+.8 = 5.5 WIS: 3+.8+1 = 4.8 CHA: 2+.5 = 2.5
  12. Yay Loren! Way to smash your challenge!! and grats on your charity jump RAWR!
  13. Are you sure you are eating enough?? Or the right things? Changing my diet over this past 6 week challenge has SERIOUSLY changed my energy levels. I used to drag all morning long. Now I am waking up earlier and not able to go back to sleep. The only mornings I drag now are the ones where I just didn't get enough sleep.

  15. Oh! Hi Hoyt! If ya live in Madison, you know where Bellville is Are you at Princeton West, then? I always wonder if there are any other nerds there...
  16. The slowly pushing out thing is probably caused by a low or angled cervix. The great thing about the cups is that your cervix can sit INSIDE it, thus does not push down on it if you have it inserted correctly.
  17. I have the Fleurcup and love it. Namelesswonder, if you are feeling that way, the cup may be too large for you. I notice mine does sometimes put a little extra pressure on the bladder depending on how low the cervix is that day, but it has never made me feel sick. It is possible that you are just really highly sensitive and it may not work for you. I would ask on the sites, though, they really know their stuff. I have been using the Fleurcup for 4 or 5 months. I haven't used a tampon since. Other than the first heavy day, I don't even have to think about the thing for hours and hours and I love that. Plus, it's saving me money not having to buy boxes of disposable stuff every month. Win!
  18. I thought this was a really good read: http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2012/02/21/she-has-no-head-no-its-not-equal/
  19. They're Just Toe Shoes... Faux Pas of fashion Whoa, don't break your neck, Lady That's right. They're hot pink.
  20. PT went alright. He gave me some exercises to do. It's really difficult not to use that arm. Trying to do the exercises. Meanwhile other things feel like they are hurting today. BLah!! Diet is still going well, though, that is where I am seeing the most change. I'm getting stronger in other ways! I deadlifted a bar on Saturday, and about 70 lbs today! Getting more strongs! I have not been very haiku inspired this past week, but I will have a go this week
  21. Yay!! Glad you are here! Let's get our awesome on!
  22. Hey! Good beginning goals! If you want those muscles to come out and play, though, you might want to rotate some more strength type exercises to go with your other things. There are a lot of great workouts here: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/category/workouts/ but the beginning strength work out is a great place to start: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/09/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/ Also, rather than say do pushups for 20 minutes (because that's just crazy hard) I would set a goal to do x amount per day...or go to http://hundredpushups.com/ and give that a shot You'll get the best fit by mixing it up a bit Best wishes! You can doooo it!
  23. I picked my cleaning goal yesterday and spent at least a combined hour working on cleaning up my desk. I climbed under, disconnected and rearranged the tower, moving it to a better place, vacuumed all the dust bunnies and junk. Then I got started on decluttering and arranging the top. I'm not finished but it's definitely getting better! I had put that off for nearly 4 weeks of challenge.

    I am Me

Wow! She looks SOOO much like her dad with her hair short like that. This song is MUCH better than the only other song I know from her
