  1. I love nomnompaleo's krabby patties I think I have made them 4 times since the beginning of the year I learned today that I have not been 100% compliant like I thought I had been. A few days last week I had a piece of gum after lunch, and according to newest Whole9 blog post, I screwed up. I am claiming ignorance on this one and will not let it happen again, but I am also not starting my 30 days over because I am hardheaded like that.
  2. I think I figured out that the hunger yesterday was actually dehydration, which also explains the dull headache I was rocking all day. Whole30- so after reading their latest blog post which goes over a whole bunch of "can I have.....?" items, I learned that I actually was not compliant a few days last week when I had my normal piece of gum after lunch. Yeah, sorry, I am not starting over for gum, I just will not chew it for the next 21 days. Fitness-2 miles on the TM before Power class. So a 2-for-1 day. Sleep-I am not sure if it is the better sleep routine or the whole30, but I am falling asleep faster and getting up easier in the morning. Meditation-still doing it and my brain is still running amok.
  3. I am going to run into interesting issues this weekend. Since it is Father's Day and my dad's birthday I will be expected to travel to my parents', which is carb mecca. I think I mentioned in another thread that last time I was there the only low carb food I could find was cheese wrapped in salami (which will not be an option this weekend). I am going to have to literally pack all of my meals.
  4. Good evening, anyone that is listening to myself talk in here! I had the kibbeh and veggies for lunch, kibbeh and tebbuleh, for dinner... but I can't seem to feel full. I am hoping the last bowl of mushroom soup takes care of it. Day off from the gym and running bed in 1.5 hours!
  5. WooHoo, weekend over and I survived! Yesterday (Sunday) was another long day. I ran in the morning and moved the last of the stuff out of my old house (and its all now stacked in my tiny 2nd bedroom), then I rounded out my food purchases for the week at the grocery store, AN DEN I made Whole30 approved tebbuleh, kibbeh, and mayo (all theclothesmakethegirl recipes). Everything seems to have turned out very well and will be my dinners for the next few nights. So for Week1 I hit all of my goals (minimally). I am really going to have to prep for this weekend. Father's Day and my dad's birthday mean a trip to my parents' and I know how difficult/impossible it is to find Whole30 compliant food in their house. I think last time I was down there (not on Whole30, but eating paleo-ish) the only low carb food I could manage was salami wrapped around a hunk of cheese.
  6. today has felt like a very long day. I did drag my buns out of bed and made it to the farmer's market. I forgot how poorly setup this one is, I am not sure if I saw all the vendors. I did however (between the market and local farm stand) manage to score: ground lamb, beef steaks, soup bones, 3 herb plants, 2 doz eggs, tomatoes, broccoli, and a kohlrabi. Not sure what I am going to do with the kohlrabi, it was a .75 impulse buy. Whole30- still going fine. I finally finished up the beef stuff and have moved on to nomnompaleo's crab cakes and Whole9's cream of mushroom soup as my meal/leftovers. Exercise- ugh, yeah, I need to get that final run in tomorrow. But I did register for the 10k, that counts for something right? Sleep- weekends are soooo nice for sleeping. Meditation- still doing it.
  7. @cme25 I am going to the farmer's market tomorrow morning and what I can get there will determine my meals for next week. Luckily (?) I live alone so one big pot of food can last me most of the week. @bonita I haven't had anyone close to me do whole30. Online support is nice, but I would like to do this sometime with a loved one. hush, dj, you know I am getting back into running after a year off so I need to take it slowly . As for the story, even of you haven't heard that particular one, you can figure out how I went: her neck was sore, swore it must have been from doing squats holding a baby, "oh well, I guess I can't go to that kickboxing class that I really wanted to go to...". a few days later she whined for hours that she couldn't turn her neck, swore she pinched a nerve "darn, I guess I can't run eventhough you all know I really want to...", later decides she needs a chiro "*expletives* this chiro doesn't take my insurance, for some reason I can't try a different office, I guess I will just have to whine about my pain for another week or so..." --Haha, yeah, great example right there of why I am done with that place. ok, back to the challenge: whole30=good; exercise=will run this weekend, so good; sleep=so good; meditation=enjoying it
  8. Whole30 is going pretty well for me. I also did not have a "hangover" like I did when I attempted it last summer. I *may* be a bit grumpy today but like Tin Man I think it is just normal end of the week grumpiness. I need to get myself reorganized. I think crabcakes, mushroom soup, and salad for dinner tonight and leftovers for the rest of the weekend. I will not sleep in and hit a farmer's market saturday morning and hopefully snag some lamb, beef, eggs, and produce. What I make for dinner next week will be dependent on my purchases... but I am really hoping for some WellFed Kibbeh and maybe some bulgurless tabbouleh.
  9. You must have missed that one. A certain Brazilian needed something new to complain about/an excuse to not work out...
  10. Paleo chili or nice meaty homemade spaghetti sauce should freeze and reheat well. For the sauce, if you have a zucchini you can julienne or a spaghetti squash you are already a step ahead, if not, think of it as italian chili and eat it as is. I try to keep “emergency†precooked chicken sausage in my freezer for nights when I have no time or energy to cook. I check the label to make sure it is minimal ingredients, no sugar added, gluten free, etc and don’t beat myself up too much if someone says it isn’t really paleo. It was a better choice than ordering a pizza. ETA: apparently the brand I buy has added sugar. Whoops. Oh well, they are delicious and I am not going to stop eating them on occasion.
  11. Day 4... Going fine. I had more left over beef and cauliflower rice for dinner. I will be happy when it is gone tomorrow. We will see if I have the will power to make it to the large farmer's market tomorrow, if not I will hit the small stand up the road for eggs and tomatoes. I made it to Power and pilates and am planning a run tomorrow or Saturday. Meditation again tonight. I am looking forward to sleep.
  12. Be cafeful, we know someone that got a debilitating injury to her neck from doing body weight squats while holding a baby. :look:
  13. Good morning, DJ. How's the challenge coming along?
  14. Day 3 Whole30 - Still no big deal. No hangover, no wanting to kill all the things (well no more than normal). Dinner was spaghetti squash with leftover homemade pasta sauce. I had a protein planning fail so I had to add some precooked shrimp to the sauce. It was suprisingly tasty. I took the day off from they gym because of an appointment after work, but tomorrow will be power class #2 for the week (and pilates) and run #2 will be this weekend -possibly with my mom - which hits my goals. Meditation before bed, which is in less than an hour
  15. Good! I really think it is something you just have to suck up and get through because it does get better
