  1. Day 8 One week down 3 to go. Then I am going to let some rice come back into my diet for sushi dinner night. I am doing pretty good. Yesterday was a long day at work so getting up to go to the gym was wicked hard this morning. I did go through and lifted extra heavy. I know I am going to be sore tomorrow. On the bright side my one arm rows are up to 18kgs and my swings are at 24 kg. I could have actually gone higher for my heavy ones, but I didn't want to rock my socks to hardcore. Next week my trainer is going to be out of town. She is going to post homework for us to do but I am going to see if I can drop into classes that week, since she is having subs. While I like body weight workouts I like to limit them to the weekend. Foodwise I am doing good. Still logging it all. I am eating a bit more, but I am still getting hungry wicked early around 11am or 10:30 for lunch. I still need to pack breakfast and lunch for tomorrow. I better hope to that.
  2. Day 6 Going Strong. Prepped alot of food for the week. Got some meatballs in the fridge, some burgers. Plus picked up some chicken sausage that has a readable ingrediants list. Meat-wise we should run out of quick options by Wednesday depending on what I take for lunch. I also have some hard boiled eggs in there for quick breakfasts, and for tomorrow I already have an omlette to heat up at work, I just made extra this morning. I am hoping to do some crockpot chicken later this week. I have a feeling I am going to run out of fresh veggies before then. I did stock the freezer a bit so we do have some frozen. So yes, foodwise I am doing well. Today was another checkmark on my calender. Exercise wise I also did well. Instead, of redoing the workout from yesterday we went on a nice two hour walk up a giant hill then around town. On our way back we picked up some groceries. So all in all I did get at least two hours of walking in. I did really well this weekend. My SO and I have been talking about the diet changes that are going to continue with me after the whole 30 is over with. So, there was even progress on that front.
  3. Day 5 Today went well. I did the homework workout which was I think the 300 workout. It sucked horribly and my time was17:08. I plan on doing it again tomorrow morning, hopefully I will do better. To be honest I prefer the body weight workout that is posted here on nerdfitness. I need to make it a habit to get some exercise in on the weekends besides the homework if I am only going to be doing kettlebell classes twice a week now. I was going 3 times but she started offering small group training and I wanted to see what I thought of it. To be honest at the moment I leaning towards just going to the regular classes once this package is up. Don't get me wrong it is totally kicking my ass, but I don't think it is for me. Foodwise I did great today. I also went grocery shopping and did some grocery shopping online for some 'rarer' goodies that I didn't want to have to travel to go get. My SO is still sick and I am hoping I don't get it. I really need him to get better, I am not used to him getting sick. In 9 years he ahs never gotten sick like this and its throwing us for a loop. Also, I miss cuddling. Anyway, besides that I am doing well with the hardhat challenge. I am focused on my goals. Life is good.
  4. Day 4 I am doing well. Been tired as heck. I missed the gym yesterday morning because I overslept. My SO is sick as a dog and I think I have a milder form of it. I got the homework workout from my trainer and have to complete it this weekend. I am hoping to do it twice once on Saturday and once on Sunday. I am keeping track of my food on myfitnesspal, though it is saying I am not eating enough. Then again I am not tracking cooking oils or condiments unless I use alot. I am going to up my breakfast since that will be an easy way to increase my food. I really wish protein shakes were allowed. I got some paleo protein mix that is pretty good and comes in handly when I really want a latte. Instead, I have a protien shake and call it good. I also have been eating alot of soup since my office is so cold. Usually chicken and veggie which is so good. Anyway, I am doing well on the food front. For once not that well on the exercise front but I am going to remidy that this weekend. Life is good. Now, I just got to beat this cold and so does my SO.
  5. Day Two Today I felt alot better. Hungry as can be but better. Around 3ish I started to slck off and couldn't concentrate but I did my best to stay on task. Foodwise I did really good. I stayed on track, thought I ate alot for dinner. I made myself my dinner then a few hours later I was still hungry and ate what was going to be my lunch. So I am going to have to get a salad for lunch tomorrow but my breakfast is planned. I am hoping to get to bed early since I am beat and 5:30 wake up time to go to the gym is early. Note to self: remember to take a photo of my measurement log at the gym
  6. Day One of Whole 30 This will be my third, and I am really excited. I tend to do really well with the whole 30. I like yes or no answers, they tend to make me feel better. My plan is to use the whole 30 as a stepping stone, I know Steve isn't a fan but little changes never stick for me. Bigger ones tend to last longer, and this time I have worked out some of my issues with the peeps around me. I had to be honest with myself that I can't keep eating like I do. No matter how much I am in the gym I am still gaining weight. I am hitting PRs, gaining muscle but gaining fat as well. Over the last couple of weeks as I cleaned out the snacks, candy and other goodies around the house I feel felt the sugar craving. It was pretty bad. I had chocolate in my hand and just wanted to gobble it down. My mouth was watering. It was scary. So, with my gym doing a fat loss challenge, encouragin the whole 30 I decided to go for it again. I did well today. Not perfect. I couldn't eat my salad at lunch so got some soup but the one one that didn't have wheat or added dairy had rice. It was a trade off, one I didn't want to make on day one, but my throat was so sore I couldn't swallow much. Four cups of black tea later and I could talk. After that I was doing well but my throat is acting up again. I am working on the perfect breakfast for me. PErsonally, if wheat and dairy agreed with me I would have breakfast sandwiches every morning for the rest of my life. I love them, they are just so good. Since I can't eat them, I have been working on something simular and as quick. I baked sweet potato slices to replace the hash browns and am going to scramble some eggs with peppers, add some hot sauce and it should be pretty good. Lattes are gone, no more for 30 days, which is good since the dairy didn't sit well with me but they were so tasty. Back to ice tea and Americanos if I need something stronger. My weight in this morning sucked. I couldn't even look at my measurements and was glad that Red was taking them. I need to snap a photo of them on Thursday and add them to my tracker. Stats: Female 5ft 4 SW: 197.2 lbs {Gym scale} GW: 150-160 lbs {depends on my measurements at that weight} Real Push ups: 5 Pull ups: 0
  7. Feeling awesome at the moment. I got to deadlift in my kettlebell class today with the barbell. I miss barbell work sooo much but not enough to actually leave my kettlebell studio so workouts like today with deadlifting are just awesome. I am going to try not to ramble about my workouts too much in the coming weeks since that is the one part of my life I have down. But yeah, it was awesome. Breakfast and lunch were awesome. I resisted the donuts at the meeting I had this morning. Lunch I got a salad, not perfect but better then a sandwich. I did have a macaroon made with almond flour. It was awesome and totally worth it. I only had one which is pretty good for me. Dinner I made a huge stir fry. Chicken, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli scrambled egg, over zuccinni. It was really good. Lunch is prepped for tomorrow and so is Breakfast. Dinner I have to remember to put in the crockpot tomorrow morning. I remembered my vitamin D today so... Overall I will give myself an A. Mini Goals: Clean up Breakfast and Lunch - Check Take Vitamin D daily - Check Limit Lattes to the Weekend only 2 at max - None
  8. I am getting back in the game. I have had ups and downs since I last kept track here. There are several changes that I want to make for my health and I decided to come back to the forums. I am trying to make some permentant changes and a log helped me in the past. I might end up doing a few more challenges in the future but for now I am going to stick here. My main quest is to lose my stomach. My doctor isn't too worried about my weight since I have an active lifestyle and eat pretty well, she is concerned with my adominal fat. I carry alot of my weight in my stomach and losing inches across the midsection will decrease the risk of heart disease, which drastically runs in my family, along with diabetes. Everytime I clean up my diet, my weight drops, now I just need to make the changes permenant. Master Quest: Lose inches across the midsection, currently at 41 inches at my belly button Mini Goal: Clean up Breakfast and Lunch - No more buying breakfast sandwiches - Only eat out for lunch 1-2 times a week, then eat smart - No grains for either meal, rice only if I go out Take Vitamin D daily Limit Lattes to the Weekend only 2 at max Length of mini goals is for 6 weeks. As these become habit again, I will slowly phase in other habits. I made my lunches for Tuesday and Wednesday, since Monday I have a lunch meeting. Breakfast is made for tomorrow. Vitamin D is in front of my laptop. I can do this.
  9. Congrats on the mood improvement. I know when I get in a funk it can be hard to get out.
  10. I upped the plank alot faster than any of the other beginner exercises. When I do that routine I try to hold it as long as I can, of course one of my goals is a 3 minute plank, so I gotta get alot of plank time in. Good job on getting the exercise in. I know my first day wasn't as awesome as planned. I second the exercise in the morning, once its out of the way you don't need to worry about it anymore.
  11. I feel you on the running. I ran on friday to time myself for my challenge and it was not pretty. Have you read 'I will teach you to be rich'? Its a personal finance book, one of my favorites. As for 'fun' books I will have to think of some non girly ones... Anyway, great job on the first day.
  12. I got a job offer today, and I am so freaking excited. It is exactly what I wanted, benefits salary everyone! I am in the best mood ever now. Oh and the best part, is that they want me to start on Monday.
  13. Thank guys! I am going to be facing those hills again today. I am just so happy that this is something that I can 'see'. It is a awesome sign of progress that yes, I am getting stronger and healthier.
  14. Just keep the photos in a safe place, they will motivate you to do more. I have found that exercising in a sport bra does wonders for motivation. Especially when you are in front of a mirror. Then again this is just in my apartment, I sure as heck an't ready for anyone else to see me in a sports bra and pants.
  15. Being an adventurer is a good place to start. Plus as you evolve you can move around classes. Welcome to the boards.
  16. I think it would be a great addition to your updates. I look forward to seeing how you do.
  17. You can move around. The levels just refer to the challenges that you have finished. I am a level 2 adventurer, but after this challenge, I think I am going to move to a different class. Not sure on what yet.
  18. I love your challenge and can't wait to see you succeed.
  19. Keeping track of what you are eating is such a good goal. Once I started tracking, without meaning to I began to change how I ate because I didn't want to track certain foods.
  20. Maybe for the six week challenge smaller groups can try to make it.
  21. Quest Completed 10 Push ups in a Row 8/1/12 New Level Unlocked
  22. I have a general idea of the plot and started writing. I hope to get a good chunk done this weekend. I have always wanted to be a writer so maybe this is the start of that dream coming true.
  23. So last night, like every Thursday night, I rode my bike to my Kajukenbo class. I didn't stop on any of the evil Seattle Hills, I just kept going. IT was freaking awesome. If anyone knows the Settle Area I rode from lower Queen Anne up Capital Hill on E Pine Street. No omg my legs are burning. I just kept going. Just for refrence on Monday's ride to class, I stopped 3 times on hills.
  24. The nachos at Browns are awesome. I loved the Delmars Farmers market. The troy one is also really cool
  25. I did actual real push ups. No inclines, no knees, just push ups. It was awesome. I just made it to 10 but that was enough. *happy dance*
