  1. The light burst in, blinding the writer at work midst her cylindrical cocoon of books. Wind whipped and curled outside the library as another flash from Thor's hammer smote the tallest tree, tearing it in two pieces as Mjølnir shook the skies with an almighty crack! Screams once human became animal shrieks as fear sent shudders throughout the shelves and chairs within, smacking into and breaking windows, skittering massive towers of books into the annals of history to be lost to all time. Luckily Captain Devil Heart, heart of the Devil, Tasmanian beast of the deep southern forests arrived, shrieking and spinning violently, reversing the storms destructive polarities, delivering a quieting centre where a deep calm stilled the chaotic forces at play. The books settled, the shelves and the chairs stopped where they lay, the people sobbed. It was a sodden mess inside the library now. The writer peered between the shards of her window, she saw Captain Devil Heart, grunting happily, heading back home to her secret hole that no-one could ever find. As the people began cleaning the mess, saving nearly every book and all of the people, the writer wrote this, recording what had happened for all time. Fin.
  2. I lost 1kg! this week. Pleased and proud. Here is a pic of me being proud Thanks again Nerd Fitness for your support and encouragement
  3. 'Schmoopy' heehee, gorgeous word! Yes, you are here! Bah! Whats four days or so anyway, in the overall big picture. Sometimes we get patches like that. I'm a bit muddled by our time zone differences, but I'm guessing you still have three to four days this week to drink more water and hopefully squeeze in a gym trip for one or two, or three! of them. The week is not over yet.
  4. Thanks. I live in hilly country, there are tracks everywhere - I just have to allow time gaps long enough for me to get out there into the big wilderness lands. Great advice about using clothes for even distribution.
  5. Update time. Weigh the same, but waist circumference is down today. I wonder if I can keep it that way! Very long days at work are challenging my staying power with what I eat. I eat well (not much into junk food but fond of cheese and crisps) and can easily over eat during the evening when I'm tired. I hasten to add, I haven't been consuming them crisps! But cheese (too much cheese) has been a temptation. Anyway, my work is quite active, lots of lifting and walking - I get hungry too after long work days and lack the energy to convince myself to lift weights - which is a better, more intensive way get my body busy building muscle. Gets a bit circular! Anyway, my problem, just using you all as a sounding board! Thank you for listening
  6. Wow, those are great goals. I'm inspired, I reckon I should give rucking a go too. It's gotta help with endurance, and thats what I'm after in the long term.
  7. Brilliant work, Drake Alexander, it's an inspiration and joy to read of your exploits against the Shadow Organisation, around here they can never win!
  8. That is such a hurtful start to getting fit, but you have done good allowing yourself time for the self care/ love. You may need to allow times for this in case the feelings swell at an unexpected memory or some such - it's good to forgive ourselves for those times we get derailed. The fabulous-ness is that you're on it and firing, picking up and tracking goals, seeing how they work for you. I've had a life time (I'm 58) of setting big, small and medium exercise and weight goals, it's taken me a life time to realise these too need to be adapted to my particular personality and needs at a particular time. It's amazing, I am getting thinner and stronger - but slowly. I think it's fantastic what you're doing, looking at yourself and seeing how a goal fits and can be adapted - without ever letting it go! You're still coming back, that's that the way to go.
  9. Ah yes, I usually follow exercises (body weight and other types of strength building) on the You Tubes at home, but memorising that circuit sounds like a very good idea. When I follow along I have to find a routine I feel like using, this wastes time. When I'm in a hurry, if I have it all inside my head then I remove that block - thanks Cirilla for directing me to that link. Thank you! Mind you, I do have to modify the jumping jacks to side stepping butt kicking jacks because of the knee...in time perhaps I'll be able to do them properly. I've been seeing the doc about the knee - I have to say though it already is sooo much stronger than before I began strength training activities. But I have to keep going, I don't want it to stop my from fulfilling this Larapinta goal.
  10. Gah! I wish I felt happy about walking. I just love a good workout that uses so many muscles and so much cardio and strength building all in one compact little session! Anyway, you are doing brilliantly, I'm most impressed and look forward to more of your story Cirilla.
  11. Thank you for those encouraging words Cirilla and Elastigirl! I have indeed been back on track. Great workout yesterday, and I did get to work on that sculpture a bit too. Larapinta - so exciting!!!!!! The trail (from memory) is around 223km - but many people choose to do sections. I hope to do as much as I can, or all of it - just gotta keep strengthening my grumpy knee, and get as fit as I can. https://www.larapintatrail.com.au/ Any advice on endurance preparation is appreciated. Although I'm guessing I mostly need to get out and walk more - I struggle with this because I'm so time poor because of all my hobbies, job, family and friends. Hmm, gonna have to change my priorities....
  12. Fabulous 40 min workout yesterday, why'd I have to spoil it all...out at a friends home, they have an outdoor pizza oven and make brilliant pizza...the history is now recorded no doubt in increased body fat percentage on me! Ah well, today is another day. I have a workout planned and big slashes in carbohydrate consumption.
  13. Hello there I'm a grandma wannabe....hopefully in time I'll get a chance at that. So pleased you're here Rock N TN, and good to meet you too Elastigirl (I too love the kettlebells) and Sloth the Enduring.
  14. My bad weeks eventually get consumed by my good weeks. Bad weeks are a touchstone I use to measure up my good weeks. I'm proud of you for all the things you've already done, hang in there!
  15. Getting the body ready for a Spartan Obstacle Race! That is a fantastic Idea, and well worth getting the body primed for.
