  1. Sure, I get all that. I'm trying to do things by the book But I'd like to know if there are any exercises that concentrate on my trunk, so to speak. As it is, I can complete the workout relatively easily. The 12kg rows were difficult the first time, but today they were ok. I can't really add more weight there right now. Should I add weight to the squats by holding a kettleball? And the plank: well I can hold it for 30 seconds (the third time gets a little tough at the end), but I'm shaking/quivering. And I think it comes from my lower back. Which is why I'd like to build some strength there. We all have problems there, sitting in chairs all day hunched over computers... So, yeah, that's it. Just want to try and maximize what I'm doing. I know I won't see big results for a while.
  2. Hey guys! I've been working on the NF beginner bodyweight exercises for a week now and I can feel something of a difference in my shoulders. But I'm still not 100% convinced and would like some help in trying to work out how to do the perfect workout for me. I've uploaded 2 pics of me from this morning. One of my biggest problems is my core strength. Abs, Obliques, Dorsals. In the body weight workout, I do 30 second planks, not 15, but I can't stay still: I "quiver". And I feel it in my lower back and obliques the most. I feel like this is where I could do with some extra workout, but I don't know how to. Some small things: - I do not really have the cash to go out and buy weights right now. I have 2x 6kg (around 13 pounds) Kettleballs, which I'm using for the row in the body weight (both at the same time, so 12kg), and a number of tiny weights my wife has bought at several times. You know, the pointless ones - I weigh 68kg (around 150 pounds). I would like to reach 70, I never have. - My stomach may look worse on the pictures than it is. I have a sunken chest. So I would like to work on my chest, too. I can have access to a pull up bar, though I workout in the mornings and the bar is outside, so I'm not sure I would leave the house until the summer. I am only working out every other day. The other day I walk and play with the kids as usual. I'm not doing any cardio. I eat well. Plenty of fruit and veg on average, and I try to spread it throughout the day. I started taking a post workout whey protein powder for the extra protein without too many calories. Does anyone have any suggestions? TL;DR: Not fit, want to work on strength, looks and abs, obliques and dorsals. HALP!
  3. Well, 3k is only since I started! I'll see if I get gains over the next few weeks. I've never weighed 70kg before, I'm at my heaviest ever already. I just saw Steve said you can't really eat too much, only too little I'm nowhere near fit. Nowhere near where I used to be.
  4. Thanks, Defining. I've got those 6kg kettles, so I use them (don't have milk jugs). I'm a lot under 25%BF, I imagine, though I don't know for sure. I'm 5'8", and weigh around 68kg (about 150 in freedom units). I'm trying to eat well, and am tracking my calories and protein intake. I've eaten around 3000 calories a day, around 150g protein. Plus I eat plenty of fruits and veg normally. I'm a healthy eater, just skinny and never really been into weights, gym work or anything. I used to be a swimmer, plus played underwater hockey. So I kept fit. But with kids it's been hard to find the time for anything. On repeating the circuit, I thought that higher weights lower reps would give better results? I need a new pullup bar, there's one in my garage but it's high up and I don't 100% trust it. Was installed by previous owners, and I see no other possible use for it...
  5. Hey all! I'm Tom, the Stomalomalus. And I want to get "beach body ready". What the hell? Why am I here then? Why aren't I doing some stupid ass beach body ready workout? Well, you know why? I don't like them. I don't get it. And you know what I did get: the explanations here. So that's why I'm here. This Thursday I started the body weight workout for the first time. And I bought my first ever protein shake. And it was good. But I feel like it may not be working me hard enough...and that's why I joined the forums. I'd love some advice on what to add to my workout to make it fit me. The only problem: I'm broke as hell right now, and only own 2 6kg kettleballs. No other weights. I'd love some more workout for my abs, I feel like my stomach could do with a lot of work, along with shoulders and chest. The plank is the hardest from the Beginner Body Weight Workout, but I've been doing 30 seconds, not 15. Should I simply move onto the Advanced? And as for weights, should the first thing I buy be a barbell? Or should I get dumbells? I used to have a set back in London, but haven't bought them over (I live in Hungary). Oh, and great to meet you all!
