  1. She's looking at the effect of climate change and why a particular butterfly is not moving its territory north as it gets a bit warmer. She is looking in particular at whether the favoured habitat plants and the plants where they lay their eggs are not available
  2. Previously followed my rebel tendencies!
  3. Good luck with your quests - they sound fun
  4. Sounds like you are taking control of your environment. Always a positive thing to do

What's the ACLU (sorry to be ignorant)
  6. Hi again. Like the simplicity of your goals
  7. Agree not overthinking things is often more productive. Good luck with your goals
  8. You'll find the 'walk outside' really important if stuck in hospital all day as resident medic. Good plan
  9. Good luck - I see need to improve my flexibility too, so have similar goal
  10. You will find balance. Life continues to be a wonderful adventure, but allow yourself time to adjust and don't expect to get everything right. My two children are both in their twenties now - kids are more resilient than you think- even when tiny. Will follow and encourage along the way
  11. Hi. This is my third challenge and it feels at the moment as though the druids are my most suitable companions on this journey. My first challenge was fun, and I didn't expect too much of myself so I was pleased I completed it relatively easily. My second was in different circumstances, travelling round the country, providing some logistical support to a friend doing fieldwork on butterflies. I was less successful with my challenge as I found it difficult to organise to regularly do strength training and spent a lot of time in coffee shops trying to recharge electrical equipment ( mostly living in a tent without any electricity or much space!) Undeterred, I'm going to set myself another challenge - still largely with a nomadic life style. These are the four parts: 1) keep to a healthy diet, largely avoiding sugary treats, whilst having a good amount of fresh fruit and veggies 2) keen to improve my flexibility, so look at nerd fitness flexibility exercises and baseline assessments. By the end of the challenge should have fully assessed my flexibility and be doing at least 5 minutes of stretching per day 3) need to increase my strength, low baseline. Find it difficult to find time and space to do complete sets of body weight work out, so aim to use angry birds sections and get to level 2 on squats, pushups and planks and at least try to complete level 1 one arm rows. Aim for 2 of these exercises every day, 6 times a week 4) my walk to mordor. Currently 55 miles from Rivendell. Aim to reach it by end of this challenge I hope fellow druids will encourage me on my way and I will look out to keep you company on your travels too
  12. Good luck with your goals - I might see you in the distance when I get to rivendell. Have a great summer with the Agents
  13. Hi. Your planning for the trip sounds really fun. Always a good way to encourage yourself to get in better shape. Good luck.
  14. Like your goals. Good luck

    Jlailin Grows!

Squirrels don't like chilli or cayenne pepper, so can use scattered chilli flakes or home made dilute cayenne pepper spray on plants which won't harm anything else (although you might miss the entertainment value of the squirrel s)
  16. Can identify with the 'take a few minutes to appreciate what's around you'. We always think of these quiet moments as a waste of time, but actually they are what helps us refocus on the important things
  17. Good luck - hope your ankle is on the mend - I'm sure the getting outside to walk would be good for your head, even if it isn't formally named in your challenges
  18. I'll see if I can find you as an adventurer next time then
  19. Sounds like you made good progress. Hope to see you continue on next challenge ....and Spenser says thanks for all the walks....more please!
  20. Well perhaps I'll summarise progress on this challenge as 'ok, considering the circumstances....' I am enjoying my adventure moving around the country with my friend looking at butterfly habitat, but it is a bit chaotic...well....very chaotic! But beautiful!! Hiking - I did get to within 75 miles of Mordor rather than 50, as didn't do as much walking as expected and did more sitting in the car. Have another month if this, so perhaps I'll be more organised in next challenge Diet - pretty good. Largely vegetarian, but did learn to use a pressure cooker on campstove so will work out some more recipes. And deserve a pat on the back for the amount of cake I didn't eat, despite hours in cafes charging various electrical pieces of kit. Haven't weighed myself, but had to buy a belt to stop my trousers falling down Body weight work out - this certainly didn't work out as planned. But I did do some strength exercises and by the last week managed 60 seconds of plank over 2 sets, 39 squats over 2 sets and 40 pushups over 2 sets, which for me is an improvement. That would mean on angry birthday scoring got 3*** on all three exercises. Still haven't found substitute for reverse bodyweight row Pleased I've stuck with it and will plan out my third challenge. Thanks for the encouragement and hope for your company along the next step of the journey
  21. I thing you did pretty well holding it all together in a stressful situation. Happy to keep cheering you on in next challenge - tell me where you post it
  22. Keep on with the dancing and running - seems to have positive effect on how you feel
  23. We find bread from bread maker keeps well if you save half the loaf in sealed food bag in fridge - we waste less that way (would probably freeze as well( good luck with your challenge
  24. Sounds like you had a fantastic time
