  1. Hey guys! Looking forward to taking this journey with you. Let's do this damn thing
  2. Hi all, I'm new to the rebellion! Woohoo! I'm a 28 year old woman ready to make some change. I'm excited to join the community. I few words about me as an intro: I was an overweight kid. In fact, I've always been overweight. Not like, super-overweight or overweight to the point where it interfered with my life, but not fit and not healthy. I was diagnosed with a severely underactive thyroid at birth, and as a result, even though I'm medicated, it's always been very difficult for me to get my weight under control. Put it this way, I can eat just like all of my friends, no worse, and I'll always be bigger. This may sound like a negative starting mindset, but it's something I've come to accept. I don't mind being bigger as it's something I've come to love about myself, but I do want to be fitter and healthier. I'm coming at this this time from a place of wanting to be the best version of myself I can be, and to do that, I need to make some changes. On first impressions, what strikes me as different about the Nerd Fitness Academy is the focus on mindset. I think this has always been my biggest problem. I want to change that. I want to learn, slowly, how to make adaptations to my life to be stronger and healthier. I've had success with fitness and health routines before. Just two years ago, I managed to follow the Focus T25 course for 4 months. I lost weight, I was fitter, my clothes fit better. I dropped two dress sizes. I even had (very faint) ab lines. However, I did it because I wanted to look good on vacation. I thought my mindset had changed permanently because I felt so good, but guess what? As soon as I got back from holiday, the workouts stopped. I went back to my old ways. Now, I'm 5'9" and 220lbs. I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I've gained 40lbs in the last 2 years. I want this time to be different. I'm starting to go through some more investigations on my thyroid function, and am hoping to see a specialist in the next few months. I think that may be part of the story. But I can't let that make me complacent. I need to still be the best I can be. I was spurred on to join when I stood on the sclaes yesterday and saw my weight at 220. I've gained 14lbs since Christmas. My weight is just climbing through the roof. It can't continue to go up. My thyroid may be partially to blame, but I'm certainly not helping with my current diet and exercise pattern. I've just joined the Nerd Fitness Academy. I'm hoping this will be different. I'm hoping I can get back to the same fitness mentality I had, but for the long term. No quick fixes. Just a change. End of autobiography! Hello everyone!
