  2. It's been years since I've gone to a Ren Faire. I guess, for me, it depends entirely upon my work schedule (HUGE deployment happening over the next few months) but yeah, I'd be interested!

I hit some serious motivation challenges this last week and I skipped Sat-Tuesday, 7/20SL 5x5 Dumbbell Dumbbell Squat 5 x 5 x 100 Dumbbell Bench Press 5 x 5 x 100 Bent Over Two-Dumbbell Row 5 x 5 x 100 Hammer Curls 5 x 5 x 70 7/25 6.4 mile run Stepped on something pretty gnarly during my run, and I'm hobbling around a bit now.

  6. WCC is up around Richmond... east of 80. Details here Chabot runs from just north of Castro Valley nearly to Piedmont. It's *stupidly* gorgeous out there, and the hiking is pretty stellar. Depending on your general activity level, a lot of the trails are great for running. Details here . When I was living in WestO, this site was almost always loaded in my browser.
  7. Oh man, I used to love grabbing the dogs and heading out to Wildcat Canyon or Chabot. SOOO much fun.
  8. To be better than I have been. To feel better, look better, & to perform better in all aspects of my life. I like the looks that I get walking down the street now. I enjoy the reaction I get from people who haven't seen me in at least 6 months. But honestly, I love the feeling I get from pushing myself harder and harder every day. I love remembering how much I used to hate exercise and pushing myself physically... more or less reshaping the person I am into what *I* want. And yeah... Tough Mudder in September. Rawr.

  11. I'm one of these folks- pretty much paleo through default. I've been lactarded for years, so cheese and milk never had a lot of appeal to me. About a year ago I took part in an elimination diet mostly to support a friend. Turned out that when I cut grains I felt pretty awesome- unbelievably so. I stuck with it, not actually realizing I was more or less already eating paleo-ish before I hit the site. It works for me but I'm pretty laid back about it. When I go out I'll have a beer or three. But for the most part I don't sweat the small stuff. I eat well, I train, and I'm healthy. I just feel *good*. That's what's important to me. Oh, and I worship daily at the altar of bacon-jesus.

  13. I cook at least two times per day. I always hated the cleanup before, but I've found that as long as I clean as I go it's not an issue at all.
  14. Yeah, last nights attempt at running in my VFFs may have done more harm than good. Went for my standard 3.75mi run along the waterfront today in my vibrams and ended up having to skip the last three quarter miles. My right ankle and my calves pretty much hate me right now. I'll do better thursday.

Got about 2 miles, but didn't want to overdo it since tomorrow is actually my official running day. I've just been chomping at the bit to see how they perform outside. Not shabby at all. I don't think I'm going to end up using them for Tough Mudder, though... seeing a lot of people who run in VFFs that had bad experiences in them. I may be heading to REI this weekend to look for a minimalist trail shoe instead. We'll see what I find.

  17. I think it's all about how you use it. Personally, I hop on and knock out 3/4 of a mile or 5 minutes (whichever comes first) on the treadmill before I start lifting. But on my running days, it's always outside unless the weather is absolutely terrible. That being said, I'm of the same opinion on this matter as I am on religion... "do whatever helps get you through the day". Some people just have some weird block around going for a run outside (my last ex was one of them) but can knock out 45 minutes on the treadmill with no problem.

Last night- SL 5x5 Dumbbell Dumbbell Squat - 5x5x100 Dumbbell Shoulder Press 5x5x70 Dumbbell Deadlift 5x5x80 Dumbbell Lying Triceps Extension 5x5x50 Been feeling super unmotivated this week- had to talk myself into going on the run the other night and pretty much had to force myself off the couch and into the gym last night. Part of this could be due to smoking (slipped up the other last week and haven't been able to put them down yet) and/or the weather change. I am relatively sensitive to barometric pressure changes. I did manage a warmup mile in my new VFF Komodosports. I wore them into work Sunday night, and regretted it the next day. After giving my calves a little recuperation time this week, I decided to wear them for last night's workout. I generally put about a mile in to warm up on my lifting days, and was able to breeze through that with no issues. It was actually easier than usual, as I was paying more attention to my strike and my stride than I was to how much I hate to run
