  1. Hi, I started Crossfit roughly two months ago, did a foundation course of two weeks first and I'm now participating in the normal workouts. While no one's actually ever been rude to me or said anything bad about my - admittedly not exactly impressive - performance so far, I really feel like I'm massively out of place. Literally everyone else is incredibly buff and fit and can do incredible stuff while I'm chubby and clumsy and I can't remember the weight lifting moves etc. My social anxiety kicks in big time every time we wait around for everyone to arrive or after the workout when everyone else, even the new people, chat and socialise and I have no idea what to talk about. I've tried to talk to people but I feel they don't know what to make of me because I'm quite shy and introverted and my life is so much different from the other people's there: I'm a teacher, I struggle with mental health issues a lot and most of the time, when I get there in the evenings, I'm already mentally exhausted by the day and just to get into the workout, where I don't have to interact socially with anyone and can just do my thing. So far, I've made slow but steady progress and I love the workouts themselves but the social situation with everyone else being best friends and me sort of on the outside makes it so hard for me to go back every time. Has anyone else here dealt with this?
  2. Brief update: Third session yesterday, we did cleans. Barbells and I will never be friends, I guess, but I didn't suck as mightily as I thought I would.
  3. Good job getting back in the game! I went back last night despite considering taking the next exit and driving straight back home several times on the way there. It was good fun and my muscles didn't bother me anymore after we got a decent warm-up. Thanks for the foam roller idea, I tried that. We'll see what tomorrow has in store regarding DOMS.^^
  4. Heya! I'm completely new here (*waves*) and also completely new to Cross Fit. I literally started two days ago with a 90 min foundation class session in my local gym. There were 6 of us in the group and the other 5...well, let's just say they didn't exactly need the foundation class. One of the guys looked like he could tear down walls with his bare hands. Talk about SLIGHLTY intimidating! The coach was amazing, explained everything really well, adjusted the workout to my - not very high - skill and fitness level and the group turned out to be quite nice, too, though. I really pushed myself that night and despite finishing way after everyone else, I did finish all the reps. So yeah, quite happy about that and also looking forward to going back tonight. Only problem is: apart from my toes and my teeth EVERYTHING in my body hurts like I haven't experienced before. I didn't injure myself or anything but I'm profoundly out of shape and the sore muscles are making me worried I won't be able to work out tonight. Any survival tips on working out despite feeling like your thighs are on fire? Just go and take it slow? Power through? Any folk remedies or magic spells to make the pain go away without doing serious damage? Help!
