  1. It's important to do workouts that you enjoy and feel productive. There's nothing worse than trying to stick to workouts that you don't feel are being productive. It's good to see that you are changing things up for the better! Hopefully you find something better with this new program.
  2. Make sure that you are reviewing your diet and calorie intake, especially since you are starting weight training. If you keep up with your diet and exercise, then it's only a matter of time until the last of that fat goes away.
  3. I, personally, like to have a mix between running outdoors and running on the treadmill. The treadmill can get boring, but sometimes it's nice to be able to run while not worrying about summer heat. If you have a good treadmill, setting a high incline can be a great way to get a more intense workout in a shorter amount of time.
  4. This "mix and match" method has worked great for me as well. I'm not particularly picky about eating the same types of food every day, but if it is the exact same meal every single day then I end up going out to eat to try and mix things up. I've realized that I just need to prepare a different type of meal with similar ingredients. It's not much of a change, but enough change to where I don't feel the need to go out and eat to mix up what I'm eating.
  5. I either skip out on breakfast or go with something like a small bowl of cereal. Usually its Life cereal or Cheerios. I don't really want to get up earlier than I have to for a bigger breakfast. Plus, eating too much in the mornings gives me some stomach issues when I'm at work.
  6. I think that if you do weigh yourself every day, you need to keep a log of the daily numbers and review them every couple of months. It's true that weight will fluctuate every day, but over time you should be able to see the bigger picture. The more times that you weigh yourself, the more data that you will have about your weight to know if you are making progress or not. If daily weigh ins are negatively affecting your motivation and workouts, then I wouldn't force yourself to keep doing them. Information about your daily weight can be nice, but it isn't as important as other things. What is important is that you stick to your fitness and health schedules. If you do that, the weight numbers will just drop over time.
  7. I think tea is really helpful for those who replace drinking sodas or fountain drinks that have a lot of sugar in them. People who seem to switch to drinking tea instead of those sugary drinks seem to have a lot of improvements, but just drinking tea alone isn't going to make you lose weight.
  8. Hello everyone! I've never been much of a fitness guy, but I recently graduated college and landed a job where I'm at a desk the majority of my time. I want to develop some healthy habits before getting used to only sitting all day. I've been looking around some other forums for fitness to try and get motivated, but this forum seems to spark the inner nerd necessary to motivate me. I'm a huge fan of video games and part of my problem is that I want to just go home and game after a long day of work. Maybe I'll be motivated to work by incorporating my nerd self into my fitness plans. The leveling, guilds, and challenges are all new to me so I'm trying to understand how they all work together. Are there any tips on getting the grasp of things? I see the current challenge has already started but am I able to just jump in it?
