  1. Yesterday was good for exercise and calorie burn but once again I lost control at the end of the day on diet. I guess it is a good thing I left so much wiggle room in my goal or I would be failing in a big way. As it is, I really should be near my weight loss goal if my calorie consumption and burn estimates are correct. I guess tomorrow's weigh in will tell how close they are. Even if they are off some, I still have a week left so here is hoping for the best.
  2. A so so day today. Off target by a fairly large amount but overall still a deficit. I think I need to not count on evening walks to fill out my calorie burn target because it is the monsoon season here meaning it is raining most evenings. I also have to be careful when I do really good for breakfast and lunch and then start thinking I have so many calories left I can just go crazy a bit, because I do. Ended up a good almost 450 calories over target when initially it was looking I would be under target. Live and learn. Now I better get to bed, because I could very easily go in and snack on something else if I don't.
  3. Good day, on target for both diet and calorie burn. Got 2.6 miles of walking plus 30 minutes on the stationary bike. Total deficit was right on the money.
  4. Today was not a bad day. I was a little under on burn calories but pretty close on calorie consumption. Overall I'll take it given recent bad days.
  5. Another less than stellar day. Rain prevented the last walk of the day and I should have rode the stationary bike to make up for it but work got in the way. I guess that will happen. I was doing good for diet until dinner, then I broke down and got seconds because there was only a little left. You know, when I was finishing it off, I realized I wasn't even hungry and just eating because. Then I further broke down later on while working and had some banana chips. Well, I still got a calorie deficit today, but once again it was only about half of goal. I did force myself to make this entry because it will help me not repeat again tomorrow. Doesn't guarantee it, but I least I am showing myself that I still care and I am still trying.
  6. Finished the day slightly over on consumed calories but burned extra calories with an additional walk. The day is slightly over target for my calorie deficit which is always good.
  7. Well, I haven't been logging every day as I intended, probably because I really had a bad several days in a row. Today, I am rededicating myself. There are only two weeks left and I can still make my goal. I lost 8.6 lbs the first week, then this last week I actually gained about 0.6 lbs. This is ok, though, my plan was to be down 5 lbs at this point so I am still ahead by 3 lbs. Today is going well so far with a reasonable breakfast and a reasonable lunch. I also got in a small 1 mile walk and a body weight workout. I will go ride the stationary bike now and have one more 1 mile walk this evening. As long as I can stick to a reasonable dinner I'll be good for the day.
  8. Day 8 was good, on track and had my first weigh in. Lost 8.6 lbs, probably all water weight but still happy. Then day 9 was not too good. I over ate and failed to walk or ride the bike as much as I should have. It was worse even than my Friday night beer night. Still I had total calorie deficit but it was off goal by almost half. Today is starting better. I didn't eat breakfast, not really to make up for yesterday, it just got too hectic and then it was lunch time. I did already get in a 2.7 mile walk and body weight workout. Another walk later today and just being reasonable on my diet and today should be good.
  9. I usually log at the end of the day, but I gotta say, weigh day in and I'm down 8.6 lbs for the first week. Damn, I'm happy about that
  10. Day 7 was good. First it completes the first week of the challenge so that's good. Second I was very slightly over the calorie burn with 5 miles of walking today. The diet was right on the money... ok 2 calories over. Of course that is my estimation and could always be quite a bit off. I guess I should get some idea if my estimations are close tomorrow because it is weigh day. According to all my calculations I should be down 3.5 pounds. I only need 2.5 to be on track for the goal and I'll be quite happy with that. If I have no loss, or even worse, some gain then I will be disappointed. I am pretty sure though, that I haven't gained anything and probably even lost at least a little. I guess I'll see.
  11. Day 6 was a better day than day 5 I was just a shade over on the diet but got some good exercise in including 5 miles of walking and 30 minutes on the stationary bike. Thanks to several days of exercise that has been over goal, I am still on target on average. Just a couple more days until the first weigh. That will be the real test of whether or not my calorie intake and burn estimations are close or not.
  12. Day 5 ended up a bit of a disaster. I went to happy hour with friends and had one more beer than I intended but it was the nachos that did me in. I thought I could have just a few, but once I started I ate my share, and it was a big plate of nachos. So I completely blew my dieting calorie deficit today. I did get in a workout today though and extra walking for the planned night out. For the day I do have a total deficit, but it is way off target. I have managed to keep from snacking more after I got home, which is good. My normal routine is to have a few beers, indulge in pub food, then snack more when I get home. Ok, next time I will stay away from the nachos. If my friends order something to share they will have to eat it themselves. And if they order too much because they are counting on me, well I guess they will learn. I will try to mention to them, next time I can, that they cannot count on me to help with those type of finger foods. And also next time I will stick to the two beer limit I set myself. There is a good chance we won't be meeting for happy hour again for at least a few weeks so maybe that will help also.
  13. Day 4 also a good day. Slightly under on the calorie burn and slightly over on the diet but really both are negligible. On average I am still ahead. Now I need to get to bed though because the snackasaurasus is stalking me. If I don't get to bed soon I will be raiding the refrigerator.
  14. Day 3 is another good day. Got a workout in, walked about 2.6 miles and spent 30 minutes on the stationary bicycle putting me 263 calories over my planned burn. The diet is also pretty good so far. I am only 62 calories over planned. By my calculations and if (a very big if) my calorie burn and consumption estimates are right I should have already lost around a pound and a half. I am trying to hold on to the weekend to weigh myself though. Since I used to weigh myself daily, this is a struggle. The other upcoming challenge is to maintain my pace when my wife leaves for a few days. Changes in routines can be distracting. Oh and happy hour Friday is also approaching. I haven't decided how to handle that yet.
  15. Day 2. Not a terrible day. I over ate by 165 calories by my estimation. That's not too bad. I also under performed on exercise by about 107 calories. Both of these numbers are of course just estimates and are probably well within the margin of error. However, I like to try to keep closer to my goals since I fear I may be over or under estimating in my favor. Still not too bad. I did ride the stationary bike today for 30 minutes and walked less than yesterday at about 2.7 miles. This gives my knees a bit of a break and I think the stationary bike actually helps my knees as I feel a bit more limber and a bit less pain after riding. I'll probably keep this mix up for a least a few days until my knees recover a bit more.
