It took me so long to read all the replies in this thread.
Would be happy to receive the answer too. As it's addiction thread, I'll dare to share my story with you.
I will not write it too long, want at least someone to read it and react.
I met my boyfriend 7 years ago. We were teenagers. Didn't think about the future. Just enjoyed the life. Of course, we tried drugs, alcohol, everything that was available.
Luckily, we didn't become addicted to drugs but became addicted to alcohol. A few years we drank every day. It was rarely that day passed without at least a bottle of beer. Usually, that was something stronger.
A few months ago I started seriously thinking about the quality of our lives. I dreamt to be a doctor. I didn't go to the university. I've decided to change something. Better late, than never, yes??
But I'm so shy to go to the doctor and ask for help. I don't have friends who can help in such a situation. Just my boyfriend. So I've talked to him and he agreed to try to leave this "drunk gap".
I've read so maaany articles on the Internet. Here https://addictionresource.com/drug-rehab/for-couples/ I've read about couples rehab centers. It takes so much courage to ask for help. But I'll do my best.
